  • "The food is simply divine! Best seafood I've ever found. The scallops are the best I've ever had in a restaurant! The Scalibut is a Fin's exclusive and one of the best meals of my life. Go, you will love it!!"

  • "Everything we ordered was spectacular and like nothing we ever had before. The Lobster Ravioli was extraordinary. The Jumbo Lump Crab Cake was wonderfully fresh, and the sauces were exceptional. For entrees,my husband had the wood grilled salmon, and I had the Scalibut, a delicious combination of scallops and halibut. Everything was fresh, light, and delicious. The service was also wonderful. The hostesses were lovely. The wait staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. We barely had room, but couldn't resist the Salty Malty Ice Cream Pie for dessert. The perfect way to end a perfect experience."

  • "We've been living in New Orleans for two years now and just dined for the first time to celebrate our Anniversary. What an experience! Except for gumbo and shrimp rémoulade (which were delicious) they don't really focus on creole or cajun preparations, e.g. barbeque shrimp or blackened fish. However, don't pass them up! The menu is printed every day based on what fish come in that morning. This is New Orleans, after all, and only fresh fish will suffice. Their smoked sizzling oysters are amazing and combine the best of raw and charbroiled styles. The salty malty ice cream pie is a dessert revelation. We both ordered it and would have been disappointed had one of us ordered something else to share. The service was impeccable!"

  • "The food was excellent! The restaurant décor was really nice and had a very comfortable feel. I had the lobster dumplings as an appetizer and the Scalibut as an entrée, which were both outstanding. And, of course, the continuous southern biscuits! They were delicious! I would definitely recommend this restaurant :)"

  • "I was not pleased with this experience. Have been going to Fins for many years. The wait staff did not bring their A game and food was average. Hope this gets fixed."

  • "Food was great and we were pleased with the service until the end of our meal when I had to get up and look for our server. Would still go back for delicious seafood."

  • "Food and wine was outstanding. Ambience was energetic like I like it; but often it was just too noisy. Waiters had to yell which made it worse. Our service was good but not up to what I would think their standards would be. Server always seemed rushed. Apologized to us several times for being behind, and unfortunately was just not overly likable. Again, go for the food. It made up for other shortcomings."

  • "Excellent food, but is the worst service in all New Orleans "

  • "From the minute we walked in, this was a perfect meal. Seated immediately at the reservation time. Good suggestions from our waiter. Service was not rushed. The food was divine. All in all, it was the perfect most outstanding dining experience. Highly recommended. Do make reservations to be assured of a table."

  • "Well organized, responsive and experienced staff; excellent menu, wine list and specials. Gumbo served tepid and immediately replaced. Smoked oysters bubbling hot and delicious. Sheeps head, red snapper and fish combo great. Hot apple pie and molten chocolate exquisite. Our second visit to this 13 yr old restaurant and better than ever. "

  • "Excellent food, service and prices for the quality of the food. I will go back to this restaurant every time I visit New Orleans. Wish there were more restaurants like this in New Orleans, gourmet but with the Louisiana taste still."

  • "We love GW Fins! Our group had had a huge lunch, so were looking for a light meal. Only I ordered an entree, the red snapper with shrimp and rice,, just crusted so on the outside. My wife ordered smoked sizzling oysters....FANTASTIC! Plus side orders of mushroom risotto, roasted cauliflower, and fried kale that was a vibrant green and melted in your mouth. Our guest had a wood barbecued shrimp appetizer, along with cauliflower and risotto. We ended our meal with apple pie alamode, a bit heavy on the cinnamon to my taste, but still a great dessert. GW Fins is on our must go to list on our annual visit to NOLA."

  • "Only distraction - individual clearing our table was a little too eager and we felt rushed. Food was excellent."

  • "Excellent food but service was not as expected! Careless waiter and not very attentive.I follow a special diet and he was unaware of the options available for me."

  • "Everything was good at Fin's......but, honestly not over the top fabulous. The hostess was less than gracious. Our waiter seemed in a hurry to get our order and get us out of there. We were there for a 25 th anniversary, and they did decorate our table and bring a complimentary dessert. Food was good. I would go again, but there are so many delicious restaurants to choose from in NOLA, it will be a while before It comes back up on the list. I think it is too stiff for kids....."

  • "We usually visit GW Fins once a year during our visit. There was four of us and we all loved it. We ordered shrimp etouffee as an appetizer (not on the menu) and the blue crab pot stickers and both were great. We had two orders of the scalibut and two orders of the center filet. Everything was delicious."

  • "Such delicious seafood! Best dinner we had in New Orleans."

  • "Joseph was exceptional as a waiter as well as his assistants.....as if they read our minds! I had a delicious beet salad and halibut entire and my husband had a shrimp salad and the chicken main course. Both were delicious and beautifully presented. We will be back and we highly recommend G W Fins."

  • "Enjoyed an amazing meal and service this past Saturday. The Scalibut is a must have and our server Sean offered up an amazing blackened grouper that wasn't on the menu. A perfect dinner on our weekend getaway to New Orleans."

  • "This is an excellent restaurant in a sea of great restaurants. Service was very good - not rushed in anyway. A great spot for entertaining business associates or for special occasions."

  • "My second visit to GW Fins was as good as the first. Love the Key Lime martinis. I had wood-grilled grouper, and it was perfectly done and delicious. We had a table at the window so we were able to watch the ever-evolving Bienville street scene. As our host pointed out, you never know what you'll see on New Orleans streets!"

  • "Had a lovely date night here- the sizzling oysters and the bluefin tuna are a must try! Also we had a couple of their signature cocktails and they were amazing as well. This restaurant gives you a break from the chaos of bourbon street, which I loved!"

  • "We celebrated my husband's 65th birthday at GW Fins when we were in New Orleans, and what a great restaurant; wonderful food and ambience. The food and service were top notch. We shared the lobster dumplings to start; they were extremely light and so, so good. I had the parmesan crusted sheepshead fish (a very mild fish) for my entree, and my husband had the blackened swordfish. Both were outstanding! For dessert my husband had sorbet and I had the Salty Malty Ice Cream Pie....every bit as good as it sounds. They also brought my husband a plate with a candle and happy birthday written in chocolate. GW Fins is definitely a restaurant not to be missed!"

  • "Down here once a year for French Quarter festival. Reserved a table at GW for two nights. That's advertisement emogh."
    Dined on 4/11/2014
  • "The appetizers were Lobster dumplings, Blue Crab pot stickers, smoked sizzling oysters and whole Cajun shrimp. Our table chose the Sheepshead, Blackened Swordfish, Yellow Fin tuna served rare, the gulf Snapper and the wood grilled Grouper as the entree and each preparation showcased the fresh product but did not over power the flavor and texture of the fish. The baked apple pie with aged cheddar and praline caramel ice cream was the only sweet we shared and it was fantastic. Hard to imagine coming to the Quarter and not eating at GW Finns."

  • "Although not "old fashion" New Orleans seafood, that would have very rich sauce, GW Fins' seafood is so fresh and prepared with "lighter and less filling" recipes. Three of us shared 6 small seafood plates -tuna, oysters, sheepshead, 2 preparations of lobster, and crabmeat - all were fantastic. Also loved there gnocchi and the mushroom risotto. Our waiter helped direct us to our final choices and made the entire experience worth recommending highly. I think New Orleans has some of the best food and restaurants in the world. GWFins should be one of your choices while in New Orleans."

  • "Our first time in New Orleans and I did a lot of research about restaurants in the area. I was truly delighted at the choice of GW Fins! Especially because I made the reservation for 4 first-timers. The service was excellent, the drinks first rate and the food was delicious! Did I mention the salty malty was divine, with the perfect combination of salt and sweet. Don't let the contemporary feeling of the place throw you, this is a friendly place with good ambiance and great food and drinks. Just right....Well worth your time and money, enjoy!"

  • "Sorry but I just don't think the food is that great for the price. There are MUCH better options in town."

  • "Rated very highly on tripadvisor so we checked it out, and it was very good. Food was excellent. Only issue (and it's a minor one) is that you do seem to pay a lot and get great quality, but the quantity of the food seemed a bit lower than hoped for. But I was overall happy and would likely go back."

  • "first trip to New Orleans. First trip to GW Fins. The food was very good. I had the Swordfish, split the Smoked Oyster appetizer and apple pie desert.. Both were very good. Not a place to go if you want a relatively quiet evening or in a hurry. The noise level was very high and it took over 90 minutes from start to finish. We placed the order for desert when we placed our order for the meal and still waited after we finished for it to be served. After a long flight to get there and not eating since 1130 it was a long wait at 930 p.m. for dinner. Pricey compared to other restaurants we ate at but still good."

  • "It was a great dining experience. The food was stellar! Lots of delicious choices. We really loved the 'scalibut' ~ a fillet of halibut stuffed with scallops. YUM! Despite being very busy the noise level was not bad. The booths have high backs and give you the feeling of privacy and keep the noise down. We absolutely LOVED this place and it will be on our reservation list on our return trips to N.O. I highly recommend you give G.W. Fins a try! :-)"
