Diner Reviews
  • "Nothing to say but perfection, everything was really great, atmosphere, menu, wine list, service, this is the best place we have been in the usa with an innovative menu printed every day."

  • "A great French Quater restaurant. Of course it being Quater restaurant it was a little loud but that did not matter. Everyone was so nice. It was our anniversary and they made it special. Great service, our server was awesome. The food was even better, ordered the Scalibut, a must have! I would definitely go back and I would definitely recommend."

  • "My husband and I had dinner here while in NOLA. The food was AMAZING. Probably the best swordfish I have ever had. New Orleans certainly knows how to do blackened! From appetizer to dessert it was just delicious."

  • "I'm not a huge seafood person, but GW fins was amazing. Our waiter was very friendly and very helpful in helping us pick which option we wanted. Definitely recommend you try it!"

  • "GW Fins was very good but I would rate as great. We had some waiter issues with level of detail and attentiveness. Food was very good. Would we visit again. Yes we would but perhaps with reduced expectations."

  • "restaurant in New Orleans! The flavors absolutely explode in your mouth! The menu is incredible and the service spectacular!"

  • "One of the best fish restaurants we have been to anywhere. They only serve fresh quality seafood and won't put on menu anything less. The soft shell blue crab appetizer was to die for. Lobster potstickers great. Very good Caesar salad. Drum fish parm crusted with crab on top orgasmic. Red snapper with kick to it was heavenly. Blackened swordfish best we have had. Salmon great also. Very good side dishes and waiter Oliver was attentive and personable. Desserts were just ok. Very comfortable and not too noisy. Prices were a bargain for the taste and quality compared to what we get in seafood in Los Angeles. Don't miss it"

  • "As always, GW Fins stands out above the rest. No comparison."

  • "If you enjoy great food and want to experience this in a romantic and elegant setting, G.W. Fins should be your next destination. The service is very professional, albeit not as chitty-chatty as I had hoped. Portion size is appropriate and the wine/drink list is nice."

  • "GW Fins is our absolute must go to spot for the best food whenever we visit New Orleans. Ryan was our waiter for our Birthday/Anniversary dinner & was so helpful. All I can say is we will be back!"

  • "We loved GW Fins. In New Orleans for a conference and this was far and away the highlight of our trip. Loved the lobster potstickers (melt in your mouth!) to start and the swordfish entree. The dessert was a peanut butter chocolately to-die-for creation. Service was impeccable. Not a bad thing to say about this spectacular dining experience."

  • "This was our second foray to GW Fins. I hadn't thought it possible to top the first visit, but it was even better, with exquisite food that rolls across the tongue like a heavenly harmony. This is seafood taken to the ultimate level. Each bite holds a complexity of flavors that combines subtly with interesting hints of the unique and unknown. It is irresistible--like a siren song playing on the palate, begging for more. And afterwards, trying to keep the memory of the flavors alive, truly a wonder where the whole is so much more than the sum of its parts. It is not just fresh fish or fresh vegetables, it is the epitome of truly fine dining. New Orleans is known for its incredible food, but GW Fins is the only place I recommend."

  • "Good restaurant EXCEPT for the noise level. We had to shout to be heard by others at our table. Ruined the experience. Might be better for lunch or when it is less crowded."

  • "GW Fins lives up to its reputation as one of the best restaurants in New Orleans. After our dining experience, I'd put it at the top of my list in a city filled with great restaurants. Service was perfect (thanks Jason!), and every single dish the three of us tried was delicious. Perfect for a special celebration where you want everything to be just right."

  • "I have been coming since 2006. At that time I met Gary Wollerman. Since then he has always stops by the table and leaves you a personal feeling of welcome. It is a nice romantic place with quiet atmosphere and well behaved customers. The quality of the food and services can't be beat in New Orleans. My guest always comment on how delicious their meal was and that they like that menu was printed for that day. The dinner is well prepared and presented as well as hot and timely."

  • "We came for the Fins Feast, a three-course fixed-price menu that was attractively priced. The service was five-star all the way, from being greeted by name throughout the meal, to menu recommendations, and more. Our waiter was amazing. The food was delicious and creative. This was a very special evening at a very special restaurant! Thank you for making it affordable!"

  • "This place delivers outstanding seafood as usual. Not your run-of-the-mill seafood house. It uses only exceptional products and it is prepared exceptionally without being overly eclectic. And the biscuits... what more needs to be said."

  • "Fantastic food, wonderful wait-staff, and the low noise level made for a great anniversary celebration."

  • "We were in New Orleans for the Essence Music Festival. Based on a friend’s suggestion, we decided to give GWF a try. Best decision ever. The warm buttermilk biscuits are a great way to start any meal. The lobster dumplings with the lobster butter sauce will all but melt in your mouth. The snapper is seasoned to perfection, complimented perfectly by the shrimp etouffee. The blackened swordfish creates a party in your mouth. Make sure you save room for dessert because the chocolate molten lava cake and the salty caramel ice cream pie are the perfect combination to send you into sensory overload. This meal was nothing short of amazing, and the service was impeccable. We enjoyed every minute of our dining experience!"

Skip the Lobster Ravilolli (different name but same thing - it was ok) ENTREE: Drum - white fish (good9 Snapper - Outstanding large portion - yummy sause with seafood around it Filet - perfect ! Was smooth and perfectly prepared. Daughter savored every bite. Dessert: Creme Brûlée - large portion - took the rest home ... Heavenly. Service: Up beat & friendly."

  • "GW Fins is a hidden gem in the french quarter. Knowledgeable and friendly service! Comfortable ambiance with a notable wine list. And to top it off GREAT food. Excellent meal from start to finish. Would definitely return."

  • "After being very excited to try this restaurant due to many recommendations from friends and coworkers, I must say I was slightly dissappointed. I think due more to my heightened expectations than anything else. The food was excellent as was the service. The tables were very appropriately spaced unlike some resturants downtown that make you feel like you are dining with strangers. Would definitely return, although not a place to be frequented weekly if only because of the price."

  • "My wife and I had an anniversary dinner here. Food, service, atmosphere, basically everything was fantastic. I only wish I could afford to eat here more often. Everyone was going beyond our expectations to provide the best possible experience. This restaurant receives our highest recommendation. Brandon set a new bar for service. The food speaks for itself. Mere words cannot describe how good this food is. Thanks to the staff for a great evening!"

  • "We could not have asked for better meals and service! Our fish dinners (Jolt Snapper & Drum) were perfectly prepared and the waiter was very attentive. The lobster dumplings were light and tender, very tasty. The meals were delicious and beautifully presented. The manager was very pleasant and accommodating, giving us a window table with a view of the street, which added to our dinner entertainment. ; ) We MUST visit GW Fins during our next visit to NOLA! A fabulous experience!"

We had lobster dumplings for starters and as entrees, hubby had salmon and I had the Scalibut. Both meals were delicious. We shared a bread pudding for dessert and that literally melted in my mouth."
