"The place was great. I had requested a private table (had stated a booth) on the reservation because it was my boyfriend's birthday and instead was placed at a small table for two that couldn't quite fit all the food we wanted to order. Aside from that, the food was good. The crab cake was yummy. We both ordered steaks although his ribeye was not very good (he said the sauce made up for it). The service and atmosphere were great. I would come back and order some of the fish selections the next time."

"I've never had a bad, or even average, meal at Gumbo's. The gumbo is the best. Their food is excellent, especially the seafood, and plated well. The service was OK, but not special on this occasion. It was busy. Overall, a very satisfying dining experience."

"The seafood gumbo, made with a peppery dark roux, was excellent. The crab cake was excellent, too, with lots of spicy flavor and a good texture (crispy on top, chunky and soft in the middle)."

"I ordered fish and my friend ordered a steak. Mine was cold when it arrived. I sent it back and the dish returned tepid, not really hot. For the cost of the menu items, the food does not deliver a very good return on investment."

"I have eaten at Gumbo's Downtown Austin location a few times in the past, and based on my visit to Gumbo's Bee Cave and my last visit to Gumbo's Downtown Austin, I will not be returning.

On our trip to Gumbo's Bee Cave: we were seated in the bar area even though we had reservations, we had to ask for bread instead of it being provided automatically, and the quality of the cuts of steak were poor. This is not acceptable at these prices (I've had better steaks at diners).

It's a bit disappointing because, years ago, Gumbo's used to be so good...I suspect a change in management or ownership has led to cutting corners."

"We made a reservation for Valentine's day and it was great. We did not have to wait a second to get to our table, the service was great and so was the food. We had a great time and we do recommend this place"
