Was there on a Monday and was
surprised at the crowd for a typical off night for restaurants ... found a perky young hostess who seated us immediately and watched as the restaurant quickly filled with patrons. 3 hungry businessmen were impressed with the beer options (They serve Chimay!) and the dinner options - opting not to go gastro pub food but with full course dinners. The short rib and the crab cakes were awesome, and we split some appetizers that arrived promptly. Will definitely go back and sample some of the "fun bar food" and sandwiches."

A last minute decision to eat out
after an 8-hour car ride; tired but hungry. Service was prompt and very good throughout the meal. I heard some were unhappy since they ran out of Bud Light, but we hate the stuff so didn't care. Calamari was gone for the night, too, which had us a little sad. Braised short ribs were very good. Scottish salmon was slightly dry but very tasty. Broccoli steamed just right. We like the menu variety and always have a good meal."

I asked the hostess for something
and she just turned her head and walked away Very rude and they have lost a good customer. I will go to Kelly' s or the Grog just down the street"

I had the crab cake sandwich and
it was great.! Lots of flavor and little filling mostly crab meat. Staff was very attentive and service was quick."

It was our first time and it was
after a Villanova basketball game but the hostess staff could have singlehandedly strangled the business Saturday night. We had a reservation for 7:15pm. At 7:30 the hostess at the stand, surrounded by waiting patrons, said she had no idea which party was next to be seated. I had also witnessed others questioning the wait times they had been repeatedly told by the hostesses. The food was good but eventually people are going to realize it might not be worth the hassle."

We arrived on short notice with a
group of 11 and the staff was very responsive in getting our group seated and hungry swimmers fed. Very attentive and cheery table service. Manu is varied and the food was good. Just right for the situation."

Gullifty's was a good casual
dining option when I was a student at Villanova. Now, after my children have graduated from there, it's still a great stand-by. Great service and good casual dining."

It's nice to have a
family-friendly option with a good selection of beers on tap. We arrived during a rush with lots of big parties present already, but were seated immediately. Our server was very attentive and took great care of us without rushing us through. Our kids had no problem making selections from the wide-ranging menu and everyone was happy with their food. It was unusually noisy due to a large college-age birthday party happening adjacent to us, but that just made it seem kind of festive. The menu has definitely improved over the years since I first went there so very very many years ago."

The food and service were
excellent. Our waiter was very knowledgeable, and all of the food was tasty. I strongly recommend a reservation, as they were very good about holding reserved tables and seating you when you arrived, as opposed to the 20-30 minute wait without a reservation."

We can always count on Gullifty's
for a good meal."

This spot is one of our go-to's
for a casual no-fuss dining experience with a variety of menu choices and very good food."

Gullifty's events manager was
quick to assist me on the reservation and everything turned out perfectly. The staff was attentive, yet not obtrusive and even offered to take our group picture when we were getting ready to leave."

Our party was sat right away. But
our table was a long table and the restaurant was soo loud that it was impossible to talk to people at the other end of the table. They have great selection of beer but they removed a lot of choices from the menu. Some of my favorite things are no longer offered. Food was good but nothing special. Our server was nice and polite. We would go back but maybe request to sit upstairs. It was so loud that it was hard to enjoy our evening."

Good varied menu. Kids portions
were very small and only large enough for a child with very small appetite. We had to order more for our 7 year old. Food was good - not great.... salad dressing too heavy Restaurant a bit dreary looking but Overall a family friendly place that we would return to occasionally"

Gullifty's is one of my go to
places for work lunches. The food is good, have a nice selection of salads, and seem to accommodate special requests easily. There is ample parking, though current construction has changed things up a little. Parking is a bit trickier, but still plenty. It's a nice place to get good food and talk business."

We ate in this restaurant in
August and September. Both visits were very frustrating, and we will not eat here again. In August they could not bring members of our party any water because "they did not have any glasses.". There were plenty of glasses for beer though! They also did not have enough silverware, and we had to ask for it repeatedly. We returned in September because it's location was convenient, but this visit was not any better. We had to ask for water 4 times until a manager brought it for us. They did not seat us on time for our reservation. It seemed that tables were empty for quite a while before they would seat people at them. It seems that there aren't many experienced adults running this place."

Service was very poor due to
Villanova's Parent's weekend. They gave our food to another table then brought it to us after someone at the other table touched it. They were delivering the wrong food to the wrong people all around us."
Dined on 9/22/2013
Outstanding pizza and barbecue
wings. Below average buffalo chicken salad and above average short rib entree. Homemade oreo coffee ice cream was one of the best I have ever had, with the exception of Springers. Our server forgot my son's entree and asked if he still wanted it....not so great, but when he got the full rack they were so good he forgot about it. Pretty bar but weird display of t-shirts in a bakery like glass case in the bar detracted from the upscale look. Fun and energetic crowd of all ages were there since it was Villanova Parents Weekend. Would definitely go back again."

My parents were visiting from out
of town so I booked our reservation a few days prior. Gullifty's website made it quick and easy and I was glad to make the reservation ahead of time! It was a Saturday night and the place was packed by 6:30. It only took a few minutes before we were seated and our host made some excellent recommendations once he came to our table. Despite how crowded the restaurant was, the wait staff worked tirelessly and our food was served in a timely manner. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone for any occasion! I will definitely be coming back!"

My husband and son had to send
their meat back because it was too rare, but the kitchen overcooked it. My meat was too rare also, but I ate it. The caesar salad was dripping in dressing and we didn't eat it."
Dined on 9/22/2013
We've noticed over the past many
months that there seemed to be a movement afoot to "upscale" the menu. Seemingly, it has come full cycle. There is a totally new menu with fewer offerings (not always a bad thing) and many of our "go to" items missing. To that point, the quesadillas, turkey club and pot roast are all gone. The potato soup was good. The flavor of the short rib sandwich was overpowering. The crab cake sandwich was pronounced pretty good. The strawberry pie dessert was, as in the past, exceptional. All in all, we probably will not return."

Renovations of building in which
restaurant is located are unsightly and unpleasant."
Dined on 8/22/2013
I have eaten at Gullifty's twice
and I have enjoyed my food both times. I had the salmon during my last visit and I had the lentil-stuffing portobello mushroom this time. Both dishes were excellent. My whole family tried the pizzas and enjoyed them. The restaurant was very loud inside, but the atmosphere was great."
Dined on 8/25/2013
This restaurant used to be a
favorite of ours 15 years ago; when I was in the area with friends last week we remembered it and decided to go back. This place has changed from upscale to way downscale. The fajitas had no sauce or flavor whatsoever--they were dry and tasteless. The atmosphere was awful."

visiting Villanova from out of
town and found this on Open table. great atmosphere, neighborhood pub/restaurant with good food and friendly service. good college town restaurant."

A pleasant surprise..hadn't been
to Gullifty's in several years...greeted pleasantly by the hostess and had a very competent waitress, Sydney. Outstanding menu for any time of the day. We were there for dinner, ordered flat bread with duck confite...crispy and delicious. Shared top rib with a bone (normally boneless)...very flavorful and crispy sweet potato fries. Shared strawberry pie for dessert....just O.K. but will be back for other selections."
Dined on 7/12/2013
Food is satisfactory, though
waitress forgot to bring an ordered side dish. In short an ok mid-level place, especially if you have kids."
Dined on 7/6/2013
Our kids loved Gullifty's when
they were growing up on the Main Line, so we thought it would be a fun place to meet a group of old friends from 'back when.' The food, even though under new ownership, is the same, but more expensive: still generous servings of filling, ho-hum food - don't bother if you've become foodies like we have, spoiled by our exquisite Philadelphia BYOBs. And the noise level, which I found nearly unbearable in the old days, was as bad as ever: loud music, bad acoustics, too many TVs. But the service was excellent, always a challenge for servers when you're a group of eight or ten, and everyone else in our group seemed to enjoy the energy level."
Dined on 6/29/2013
We have been visiting Gullifty's
for years. Recently the decor, menu and staff have turned over. It took a few visits, but we are back to enjoying our meals the way we always have. The staff is more comfortable with the new menu. The beers on tap selection has risen to what it used to be and the food and service are back to outstanding. Change can be painful, especially with one of your favorite restaurants, but everything is back on track, and we are really enjoying ourselves again!"

new menu fun...tasty...our
waitress...fun cute attentive without hovering...perfect!"
Dined on 6/14/2013
We were 8 people, 3 of them
children celebrating my sons 40th birthday. The service was excellent and very pleasant and the food was also very good. The restaurant was not crowded at the time so it was good for the kids. We enjoyed our meal and visit and my son was the one who chose it. This is one of his favorite places."
Dined on 6/10/2013
Gullifty's has always been the
type of restaurant where the quality of the food and the quality of the service varies from visit to visit (and we have been going there for over 27 years). The latest iteration includes a new menu with prices that seem a bit higher, and not necessarily justified for some of the entrees. It appears the goal is to upscale the restaurant although it remains a location primarily for locals and college students, not those looking for a more upscale meal. Our meal was good, although $7.00 for French Onion Soup, for example, is a bit steep, for example. As a result, we're likely not to return when burgers and soup and a soda make the meal about $25 plus tip."
Dined on 6/8/2013
I've always ordered the same
thing: the vegan burger. It's delicious, wholesome, filling, and healthful. Now with the new menu (and new head chef), it's gone from the menu. In fact, now there is nothing on the menu that is vegan. I will not be returning."

Just hubby and me on a Friday
night; salad with filet mignon was very good, odd that it arrived a few minutes later than my entree; even our waitress was surprised. They got the 'medium rare' order perfectly. My BBQ flat bread was good but, other than onions, they weren't overly generous on topings, could barely find the meat or BBQ drizzle. Still...it was tasty. Service was very attentive and the young men bussing were always quick for clean up."
Dined on 5/17/2013
All of us are Gullify veterans. We
like the food and usually the atmosphere. For this visit we had to wait 45 minutes to be seated (plus I got there 15 minutes early to hopefully speed up the process). The noise level was so high; I think the music was turned up louder, making us shout at each other. By the time we left, however, the noise level was normal. Gullify's has a very good, predictable menu. We will go back but not on a Saturday night."
Dined on 5/11/2013
We went there for Mother's Day
brunch. The place was lively and the staff handled it commendably. Food was OK, not terrible, but nothing special either."
Dined on 5/12/2013
I went Mothers Day. It was
crowded, but not out of control. The music playing was very loud, which caused everyone in the restaurant to have to tell at each other, which made the noise unbearable. The waitress was at the other side of the table taking our order, I couldn't hear what she was saying. Turn it down!"
Dined on 5/12/2013
Got a reservation for an evening
meal and still ended up waiting over an hour. The host informed me when I got there that someone was at my table and that I would have to wait a half hour. It wasn't until after much haggling and effort that they finally moved a few tables together to fit my party and I in. Not a single person apologized or even seemed to be bothered by the situation. Gullifty's fully dropped the ball on this one. Id advise anyone to not make a reservation because it clearly has no meaning in this situation."
Dined on 5/11/2013
Always a bit difficult to narrow
down to one choice. Everything is fresh, from the burgers and pizza to tuna or steak. You could live on their bacon - but that is not advise. Incredible selection of draft and bottled beer. Used to be a bit more suitable for kids... but the renovation has expanded the bar and increased the noise. Still one of our favorites. We go for great food that fulfill any mood."
Dined on 4/26/2013
Don't let the construction on the
outside fool you...this place is a solid find once you get in the doors! The food is creative with fun flavorful combinations that will sure fit anyone's palate! Wide selection of beer and wine. Great night out and a price point that cannot be beat for the excellent quality of food you get! We definitely plan on visiting Gullifty's again in the near future!"
