Diner Reviews
  • "Wife liked the Chicken Parmigiana. I loved the Salmon, Potato, and Green Beans. Hostess was not particularly helpful; waiter was okay. View was very nice. We do plan to return."

  • "Had Seafood Ciopponi. Sauce was good but that's about it. Seafood, clams and mussels were very, very small, fish was overlooked and overall a bad choice on my part. Will not go back."

  • "View of the marsh area was great. We didn't stay for the sunset, but we imagine it would be a spectacular view of it from the outdoor patio. We loved that the menu didn't have too many items and the pricing was at the upper end of reasonable for a resort area such as myrtle beach. The waiter made the dinner great. It was a little muggy but a tiny breeze made it bearable. All in all a great dining experience."

  • "A somewhat secret restaurant that is worth checking out. The service was great and food was outstanding! ! I highly recommend the grouper! It was the best I have had anywhere. I recommend this restaurant for the view and quality of the food."

  • "Our family makes a visit to this restaurant every year. They never disappoint."

  • "Gulf Stream has been a favorite of our family for years and it continues to be one of our top three in the area. We love the sunset views, the delicious food and excellent service. From seafood to steaks you can't go wrong. Gulf Stream has never disappointed us."
    Dined on 7/15/2014
  • "Another wonderful dinner and sunset view. My date had the special - yellow fin tuna blackened (rare to perfection!). I had the Nawlins Shrimp appetizer which is the best shrimp and grit cake in town. The crusted baked potato and fresh green beans accompaniments were tasty and plentiful. Will definitely be back."

  • "Food is always wonderful!!!! Love the views of the inlet, and sunsets are amazing!!!"

  • "Went here for our 1st anniversary as we were married on the beach last year. Very nice view of sunset and marina however, service could have been better. Server did not know a thing about the wine list and brought the wrong wine that we ordered but did correct it. She was not attentive enough as I had to request refills several times for both of us. Food was very good but too limited of a menu. Was "ok" for a special dinner in my opinion but a very nice place for an average dinner out for most."

  • "Excellent place for dinner on the inlet! Great food and service. Love it!!"

  • "My wife and I enjoyed a nice anniversary dinner. I recommend for a good conversation and great service."

  • "When you walk in the door you get this awful dirty dishes smell. My family and I almost didn't even stay for our reservation from the smell. Our waitress however was fantastic I don't think I ever saw her once not running around doing something for someone. As far as the food goes describing it as terrible is giving it more credit it then it deserves. There were six of us and only 1 of the meals could be described as decent. The appitzers in the words of the 10 year old in my family they were gross. The view is beautiful and the service was good but if your looking for great seafood this is not the place."
    Dined on 7/10/2014
  • "Slow service, fishy salmon, stringy and tough tuna, horrible attitude from the long straight haired waitress, hot and humid inside, NO parking, and slow food preparation. But other than that, it wasn't too bad."
    Dined on 7/10/2014
  • "Fried seafood over battered, over cooked and too salty. Calamari and oysters are mostly batter. Crab cakes are safest option. Side servings are plentiful. Lots of low priced wine choices. Go for ambiance and service not for the food,"
    Dined on 7/9/2014
  • "Excellent service from Randy!!! Excellent food, had party of six. Fabulous sunset!!!! Plus extra Mon. fireworks after dinner on the roof on the inlet."

  • "My husband and I celebrated his birthday with dinner and a magnificent view of the marsh at sunset. The menu at Gulfstream is limited. The seafood is fresh, but our server told us it is not local. We enjoyed Shrimp n Grits and the fried seafood platter. Our visit was relaxing and pleasant. We would return."

  • "Initially picked, this restaurant, along with one other, because of the fact that they took reservations. Just moved to Surfside and did not want to compete with the tourists for wait times. Was pleased to find that the reviews, I have researched, were spot on !!! Now that I am a resident I will be using Gulfstream as my go to place ! Best Mojito that I've ever had !"

  • "The view was good. The service was disorganized, the cost was high for so so food. Our dinner can out before our appetiser and dinner had to be "recooked". Really puts a bad spin on a birthday celebrations. Very disappointing."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "Noisy... Couldn't hear anyone at our table. Food was good but the atmosphere made it difficult to enjoy the meal."

  • "Our dining experience on the Fourth of July was excellent! I am a "nutritarian"/gluten free eater. Our server was a student in holistic nutrition and was able to advise me on suitable choices. One of the specials was tuna. I got it very lightly blackened and it was one of the best I have ever had. So grateful to have a scenic Inlet view restaurant with our server, Mandy, to make our dinner an exceptional evening."

  • "The Gulfstream is one of our favorites at the beach, mostly because of the views. The menu is only so-so and the service used to be good, but here lately, it has been going downhill. The server we just had on the 4th didn't seem to know the menu very well and when we asked her questions about it we got wishy washy explanations with a snide attitude about her. The menu was very limited on the 4th. We had a hard time finding something that we wanted. It wasn't their normal menu, which is also limited, but this one was only one page long for everything. We were overcharged on drinks given that they were very small. They played loud music during the dinner and fireworks, which took away from listening to the fireworks. But it was a nice view!"

  • "Restaurants say they serve Maryland crabcakes but they never seem to quite get it. However, the Gulfstream does. They were filled with wonderful tasty crabmeat and just barely enough breading to get them to stick together. YUM! Our dinner companions had the yellow fin tuna that was a special that evening. Each one had a very large piece and cooked perfectly for them. The green beans were fresh and plentiful. The baked potato was large with buttery salty skin - so tasty without having to add lots of butter and sour cream. We had a wonderful view of the inlet and the service was attentive. We will definitely be back!"

  • "Great food and service was excellent.I highly recommend the crab cake, she crab soup, and the fried shrimp. View was excellent."

  • "A very nice restaurant with a phenomenal view. Seafood platter was very good, and my wife thought that the Chicken Parmesan was great! The service was very good, and the best part is that this restaurant takes a reservation, which during the summer months is something to consider! We highly recommend!"

  • " It's been a long time since whole family was together and it was the first time we have ate at Gulfstream Cafe They made our whole evening memorable In one word OUTSTANDING Will be back for the crab cakes Pawleys Island SC"

  • "Best restaurant we found while on vacation. Great service, great food!"
    Dined on 6/27/2014
  • "The price, the wait, the noise level ... all have been excuses I've heard that folks did not like Gulf Stream. Well, these hurdles exist at every restaurant in the Summer. The food is amazing, the view is as well. We return to this location for these reasons every year."

  • "Our overall experience was great, I ordered a side salad that was served at room temperature, it obviously had been sitting out of refrigeration for a long time. The restaurant was really busy, however, I still expect a cold salad."
    Dined on 6/27/2014
  • "Our lunch was excellent. I had the 220 Salad and my friend got the black and blue burger. Our food was on time, tasty, and our waitress was very attentive."

  • "We were seated promptly at the time of our reservation. I asked for a table out on the terrace. Our waiter was very prompt, brought us our drinks quickly, some good crunchy bread and took our order. My wife had the filet mignon, which she asked to be cooked medium well. It came back seared on the outside very well but the inside was very under cooked, so much that we had to send it back to cook it some more. By the time it came back, she had filled up on bread, soda and eating my hush puppies. I had the southern fried seafood platter, which consisted of fried shrimp (4), fried oysters (4), fried scallops (very small in size) and 2 pieces of fried flounder and the afore mentioned hush puppies. The food was OK. Probably won't go back"

  • "My crab cake dinner was especially salty. I could barely eat it. The spinach was impossible to eat."

  • "We have eaten at the Gulfstream several times and the food is always excellent. The brunch buffet has an great selection of tasty items, as well as made to order omelets. We chose to eat outside on the deck, which gave us a wonderful view of the marsh and inlet. The wait staff was very attentive. They even bring you warm cookies at the end of the meal. This is a Sunday brunch you don't want to miss."

  • "Enjoyed Sunday Brunch, a little something for everybody. We visit Myrtle Beach almost monthly. Always try to get to Gulfstream as you will always get Great Food, Service and Value."

  • "We were there with family & friends and the meal & ambience was very enjoyable. Next time I think we would prefer a table instead of the round booth. Too much sliding around for seniors."

  • "best restaurant on north side of inlet. Very scenic, Extremely friendly professional waitstaff, and of course, the food was delicious"
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "We made reservations which was the best way to go. We were sat quickly and we choose to sit outside on the lower deck. The view was great and we watch the sun set which was amazing. The food was great but expensive. Our server seemed very busy and distracted. He forgot to put my soup in the system so I didn't receive it until I ask and got after my meal. But we still had a great experience and would recommend it to anyone that is in the area."

  • "As a resident of Garden City this is one of my favorite restaurants. I can't seem to avoid ordering the Grouper Francaise. So light a refreshing!"
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "Food was excellent. Hubby wanted grilled instead of fried shrimp, very accomodating. My grouper was delicious, menu did not indicate fried...light crust, would have preferred grilled. Service was good. Corner table gave us a great view of the inlet."

  • "Large portions, salmon had great flavor maybe a touch over cooked if you like your fish cooked medium rare, blackened mahi was great, calamari typical fried but not over done, attentive service because it was a slow night, green beans were delicious We sat upstairs on bar area and was quiet since it was early and we liked the view"
