Diner Reviews
  • "We recently went to Guillermo's for Easter Sunday Brunch. We were seated promptly and waited upon quickly. For their brunch they offer one main dish from a menu and then there is a buffet, as well as almost bottomless margaritas all included in the price. There are Mariachis strolling around playing while you enjoy your brunch. I highly recommend Guillermo's Restaurante any time, Lunch Dinner and especially the brunch. The staff, (most of whom are family) provide great service."

  • "The service was Fantastic. The food however was not. The best thing we had twas the hot green salsa they brought out with the chips. Guacamole was very good-not great. The Camarones a la Diabla was the most disappointing dish. I asked for 7-8 spicy. It came out very very bland. As I always have this dish on my birthday I was sorely disappointed. The flan had a very thick consistency which did not allow me to fully enjoy the flavor. Reason 50% of the total dining experience was good, mainly due to the service. Oh did I mention when I asked for more green sauce to put on my shrimp- 10 minutes later I was told they were out and might have some soon, adding if you still need it by then. Guess we are down to 2 stars"

  • "Family owned and you will know it by the service. Prices are fair for the food and quality. Drinks are waterey for the price. I would go back, but have my pre--dinner drink first."

  • "Guillermo's was a great find! From its impressive margarita menu to it upscale authentic Mexican cuisine, this place has it all. The chips, salsa, and guacamole were some of the best ever, while the Shrimp Diabla was to die for. The fajitas were simply outstanding as well. We really enjoyed sampling different margaritas. The live acoustical guitar performance created an authentic ambience as well not to mention the great service! Not a cheap place by any means but well worth the price of admission! Definitely will be back on our next visit to Palm Desert!"

  • "Usual great meal. We had carne asada and something that came in a stone mortar & my husband said was excellent ……and 3 beers ….and the usual chips & dip to start, all for $56 ( pretax & tip). In spite of the reasonable price, the service was attentive & courteous , efficient and the staff are all friendly and act like they own the place ! I have been recommending this restaurant because we enjoy going there , and it looks like it is getting busier each visit, thanks!"

  • "Is one if the few times in southern California that I experience a real , Mexico City restaurant . I order a chicken in mole verde, and was accompanied with rice and veggies. Came with veggies and real Mexican white rice. If you like hot salsa , they have a chilango salsa real spice ."

  • "We only have the opportunity to vacation in Palm Desert once a year but we prioritize a dinner at Guillermo's. This Family run business creates and serves authentic Mexican food! A wonderful selection of dishes that you will enjoy. The service is friendly and attentive. Guillermo himself will come and check in with you at your table. Add Guillermo's to your must try while in Palm Desert."

  • "We've found the Palm Springs/Palm Desert to be curiously not up to par when it comes to Mexican food. It's mostly bland and boring. But not Guillermo's! We found it by accident and now eat there every year when we're in the area. It's really awesome! And one of the better places for Mexican for Vegetarians (as one of us are) if that matters to you."

  • "Very expensive and terrible margaritas Almost 100 percent lime juice. Food was mediocre at best. my wife had a dish that had prawns, they were without any flavor. I had a house specialty that included everything that was just a lot of food. I asked for a extra shot of tequila in my second margarita hoping it would improve the flavor and was charged the eleven dollars plus an extra nine for the added tequila. It is a restaurant that will not see me again. I must say the outdoor ambiance was nice and the waitress was very good. My wife and I agreed that there are far better Mexican restaurants to try in the area."

  • "It was our last night in Palm Desert and wanted Mexican. I read the reviews and they were right. It isn't authentic Mexican food, but they do have a lot of choices from filets to fish dishes. The service was great as even the manager stopped by. We had fajitas and they were very good! We were seated by the kitchen so it was a little loud and servers were standing around, but our server was good! It is a small place and in a small strip mall, but they had a nice guitar player so everyone could here him!!!!"

  • "I have been to Guillermo's several times now and the food has been exceptional every time. Depending on the time of the year, they may be really busy or you may be the only one there. Service has been pretty good each time I have been there, even when they are busy. The fajitas are outstanding."

  • "Great true gourmet Mexican fare!!! It's not your usual beans, rice, tortillas...much better with true flavors served with care and expertise. Family runs it. Servers are sons, daughters, nephews, nieces. Favorite of concierges!!!"

  • "Completely understaffed and unattentive to the guests. we had to ask for menus, ask to get a drink, ask for chips/salsa, and then wait nearly an hour for our food to be served. it was a complete waste of time. the hostess seemed incredibly inexperienced and couldn't attend to the guests nor was she friendly."

  • "We have been eating here for years, and find both the food and service continue to deteriorate. They don't know how to manage reservations and we waited half an hour for a table. It took an additional half hour to get menus. The food was bland, the portions were stingy, and the margaritas were weak. We will not be going back."

  • "Will definitely return. Attentive server (William), very good food. Could carry a conversation without yelling. Order an entree or special with the diablo sauce. It is delicious."

  • "The service was okay. The hostess didn't greet us, talk to us or anything. It took me a minute to realize we were supposed to follow her as she gave no direction or verbal cues... She sorta just walked away. The person who cleaned up tables took the water in the glasses and threw it in the parking lot (we dined outside and thought this extremely odd), and the girl who brought out silverware and plates (not our waitress) didn't give us a clue as to what was going on either. We waited nearly 10 minutes before someone came to take our drink order. I went here based on reviews and would not visit again. The food was okay but nothing to write home about.... With the exception of margaritas and churros dessert. Those two items are spectacular!!"
