Diner Reviews
  • "They did a great job with the kids. It was my wife's birthday and they were wonderful. Children's menus and great service."

  • "We had a nice night... oysters were not very good although you always take a chance in VT with those.... steaks were great but service was just "Okay". Not much of a wine list in the chardonnay category for moderate costs. Good night out otherwise :)"

  • "Prices are high but the steaks are exceptional. For foodies looking for artfully plated, super creative food, this misses the mark. However the steaks are AMAZING. For the prices charged I would have like to have seen much more creative / interesting sides - potatoes, fries, braised greens, and maple butternut squash were great but was expecting more like what is the standard at places like Kitchen Table Bistro, shelburne farms inn, etc. Loud ambience reminded me a bit too much of other steakhouse type places rather than fine dining. Maybe since it was a busy Friday night it was louder than usual. Will probably go back and try it again when I'm craving local grass fed beef expertly prepared."

  • "Three adults ate for $125 - no desert, only 1 drink ($10). Quick, friendly service, very good food. We will definitely be back."

  • "It was relatively easy to get a reservation for Friday night. The space is pretty big. Specialties include grilled meat and steaks were outstanding. Salad had tasty and fresh vegetables and all sides were delicious. Shrimp and grits appetizer was excellent! Carrot cake with salty caramel sauce was top notch! Would go back any time."

  • "We chose The Guild for our anniversary dinner on a Monday night. The atmosphere was comfortable yet clean and sophisticated. We split the filet mignon (one serving is a whopping 10 ounces, so splitting was a perfect 5 ounces). We finished the dinner off with a piece of house made mocha cake to share. We indulged in a bottle of wine (it was half price for a Monday night promotion). A lovely dinner and a perfect place to celebrate! The service was perfect and we were even treated to an amuse-bouche compliments of the kitchen."

  • "I had heard good things about the restaurant from others but was warned it was expensive. We love real fires in fireplaces so were pleased to see that there were two real fireplaces, one in the more casual side and one in the more formal dining room. We were seated in the formal dining room which was OK but definitely lacked the atmosphere of the casual room. I wish we kne to request a table in front of the fire because one opened up but we weren't allowed to move there because someone had reserved it for an hour later. The food was excellent and the service was excellent but it was in our opinion, overpriced. I don't feel that a restaurant in Burlington can really ask for New York and Boston prices."

  • "We dined at the Guild for a special occasion. The service was excellent and the food was amazing. I would go back in a heart beat and recommend it to anyone."

  • "On a whim we stopped in to the Guild Tavern, which rose like a phoenix from the ashes of the old Ground Round. What a delightful surprise to learn that what was once a run-down sports bar is now a vibrant and creative restaurant with a focus locally sourced foods. We have enjoyed dining at the sister restaurant in downtown Burlington but had not expected to find such a delightful place along the strip of Route 2 through South Burlington. I recommend it! Only negative comment: it's pricey, but a nice treat."

  • "Great place to take out of towners. Especially those that fly in at dinner time! My guests were grateful and shocked that we met five minutes from the airport. They stepped into a lovely setting with quality food."
    Dined on 3/28/2014
  • "Excellent service, very attentive to requests Restaurant was full, noise level was very loud Recommend installing sound absorbing surfaces & a sound white unit, would improve atmosphere Cost of order was about 10 -15 higher than expected Food quality was very good, limited selection compared to other restaurants in the area"

  • "This is my second time dining here and I have been pleasantly surprised with the service and food both times. Nice beer and wine selection. The kitchen treats prior to the meal are excellent, tables nicely appointed, and excellent service."

  • "Juicy perfectly cooked burgers! Best Onion Rings ever tasted. 1/2 price brews some nights."
    Dined on 3/25/2014
  • "We had the aged rib eye for 2. It was good, but not great. I honestly couldn't tell much of a difference between this steak and a cheaper one. The sides were excellent, but small for the price. Service was very good. The ambiance was okay, but they really need to paint the ceiling a dark color (it's currently white) to set the place off."
    Dined on 3/24/2014
  • "My First chicken was raw. My replacement was burnt on the outside and raw in the middle. The food is very bland with no taste Very expensive with poor service and poor food. We will not return. Ed."
    Dined on 3/23/2014
  • "The food and service were top notch, and although a bit pricey, it was worth every penny. There were also no problems at all, everything even went smoothly with the flowers I ordered from an outside vendor. Highly recommend the Guild!"
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "My boyfriend and I were a little set off on the price of the meals, but the food, service and overall experience was worth every penny! We were sat over in a corner spot, felt very private. Ordered the rib eye dinner for two. I had a special drink made by the bartender that was very refreshing! We would go again for sure. The only bad thing is the price. But again, it really was worth it."

  • "As we waited for our guests to arrive we ordered onion rings as an appetizer and we were so unimpressed with the lack of sause and small portion. They also for the high price were fair at best. Much better onion rings at Texas Roadhouse or Outback Steakhouse for half the price. The ambience and service were very good but when our friends arrived we decided to bolt and go somewhere else. It is my opinion that the place is overpriced but I will have to be fair and say that a good place with high prices should make sure that the appetizers are top notch cause that experience made us leave before we could give them a fair review."

  • "Extremely great food and great friendly informal service. We are regulars at the Guild and greatly appreciate the recognition by the Guild staff of our loyalty."

  • "Guild is so well done. The food is delicious and the ambience relaxing. We can't wait to go there again."

  • "The steak for 2 was good but for the price I expected great."
    Dined on 3/1/2014
  • "The food was amazing, highly recommended. I would absolutely go again and again just to taste that wood fired steak again!"
    Dined on 3/16/2014
  • "The filet and the ribeye were the best I've ever tasted. The food had so much flavor. I understand why the prices are so high but it will have to be a special occasion place for us rather than a place we go often. They do have other offerings that aren't as pricey but once you have the filets you will crave that flavor. You probably won't order steak anywhere again."

  • "Take my word for it, everything about the Guild is Amazing !! Don't walk, run for a magnificent dining experience !!"
    Dined on 3/13/2014
  • "Without question, the food was very good. However, the price was more than a little high for the food and service. I understand that the food is high-quality and locally sourced, but it just doesn't command the prices charged"
    Dined on 3/8/2014
  • "I have had a better steak. The meal was good but just not worth the money. I thought my side dish was better then my steak."
    Dined on 3/8/2014
  • "A restaurant in Burlington, or really anywhere now, should be able to accommodate a vegetarian. They told me that because I could not have cheese "that makes it very difficult"."
    Dined on 3/8/2014
  • "Great food, very loud though, my husband and I practically had to scream to have a conversation. And it was really busy so service was very slow. Still a great place to get a great steak though."
    Dined on 3/7/2014
  • "We always have a wonderful dinner with great service!"
    Dined on 3/7/2014
  • "Excellent steak! Cooked to my liking However my friend's "mixed grill" steak was tough and chewy but the salmon was very good."
    Dined on 3/6/2014
  • "I've eaten at the Guild Tavern/Guild & Company a number of times and been pleased enough to continue returning. However, my Steak Sandwich (first time I tried it) was a disaster - a too thick gravy overpowering a somewhat tough pile of overdone and tasteless beef product on a doughy roll. Sides were well prepared, well presented and tasty. Service was very good."
    Dined on 2/25/2014
  • "This is a boisterous yet sophisticated place to bring a bunch of friends or co-workers for great drinks, apps and entrees. One should understand that things are somewhat pricey but what you are paying for is meat and other ingredients of the highest quality and freshness that you can't get anywhere else. The cocktails are fantastic as are the desserts. The staff is very customer oriented and a lot of fun. Our server had a great sense of humor and was super responsive and helpful. The menu is quite creative and the burgers are outstanding. Oh and they have two fireplaces you can request a table near."

  • "We have always enjoyed friendly, efficient service, incredible food and drinks and a warm welcoming atmosphere. This is our favorite place! Can't say enough good things about the Guild."
    Dined on 2/27/2014
  • "We frequent The Guild because the dry aged steaks are the best in the area, the service is always top notch, and everyone is friendly and accommodating."
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "I found the food was good, but I didn't find it special. The dishes were simple, and I was expecting more flavors and uniqueness for the price of the food. A really nice restaurant however, and the ambience with the fireplaces makes it warm and cozy. I ordered the salmon, it could have had more flavor. I also tried the meat dish with the mashed potatoes and the crab cakes, it was good."
    Dined on 2/21/2014
  • "The food is ok/decent, but not spectacular. The combination dinners are overpriced, as are many menu items. The tiny (maybe 3 oz.?) steak with a few small shrimp with a half cup of vegetables and watery mashed potatoes does not warrant a $29 price tag in this market."
    Dined on 2/20/2014
  • "Just a wonderful place to be. The waitstaff is well versed with a things menu. There was no rush even though we were a party of 6 on a Saturday night. Great selection of beverages. Presentation was lovely. A great way to celebrate someone special or just to get your fix of fine meats!!!"
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "While the services was very good and the ambience fine my order of steak frites, medium rare was tough as shoe leather. I will not be returning."
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "We made reservations and our table was ready within minutes of our arrival. We each had a cocktail - very tasty! The meal was relaxed and cooked just as we wanted."
    Dined on 2/21/2014
  • "My outrageously priced ribeye was mostly fat and bone. I am aware that ribeye's are a fatty cut but for $48. Sides and bread were good. Not into that much open seating ,creates more noise. Wanted a more romantic experience. Sita"
