Guild and Company
What a find!We were in Burlington for UVM graduation, and found this gem for our last night dinner. The bartender made amazing, classic but inventive cocktails, and the food was outstanding-- and the ambiance was cool and inviting. A little out of the way from downtown, but not too far and easy parking. A definite must go!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMFrom the moment you walk inFrom the moment you walk in the door till the moment you leave you are catered to on the highest level. The wait staff was excellent, food was the best and the entire experience was fantastic.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic Tasting MenuWonderful experience at The Guild and Co. during Vermont Restaurant Week. Everything was cooked to perfection, the ingredients were fresh and in season, and the wait staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Will definitely be returning.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMVery, very great eveningThe service was fabulous (Kahlani was our server), the decor wildly creative, the steaks melted in your mouth. Highly recommend The Guild experience!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways exceptional! We try to eat here at least a few times a month and we always leave satisfied. The ambience is unique and inviting, and the service is exceptional. We always recommend this restaurant to our friends and family!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMRib-eye for two a must.Table side carving,
Rib-eye for two outrageous,
A Haiku for Guild.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a great night out withHad a great night out with two other couples. Food was supurb--even the ketchup! Wine was excellent. Pricey menu but worth it.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMNot as Expensive as I Thought! My husband and I have been waiting to go to Guild & Co since it opened, but were intimidated by what we heard about the prices on the menu and the long wait, even if you have a reservation.
We went on a Friday night, about 6:45pm. We had a reservation, and got seated immediately. I suggest if you want to avoid the wait, arrive before 7:30pm.
The asparagus appetizer is divine! I highly recommend it. The brisket was also very good, and although my chicken sandwich was a bit dry for me (I am pretty picky), the herb aioli it came with made up for it.
And for prices: the steaks are expensive (and I assume worth it), but everything else was the average price you'd find at any other non-chain good restaurant.
Bottom line: We'll be back!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAttentive wait staff withoutAttentive wait staff without being overbearing. When my daughter and I weren't happy with the "cocktail of the day", we were offered other choices with no questions asked and were not charged for the cocktails. The ribeye steak for two was a good deal with salad, two sides and two accompaniments included. The meat was tender and delicious- cooked to perfection. A salmon tartare starter had a nice pairing of spicy kick and tangy flavour. My scallops were equally good but I would have enjoyed a few more. A very good meal but a tad pricey for the Burlington area.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMSecond time dining at theSecond time dining at the Guild and it was excellent again. Great food, great hostess and wait staff and looking forward to our next visit.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love Guild and CompanyGuild and Company is one of our favorite restaurant in the Burlington area. Reservations are recommend since they are so popular(even week days), and it seems that the patrons enjoy a wonderful leisurely dinning experience. The staff is very attentive and knowledgeable. The food is top shelf!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMI brake for steakIf you like deliciously prepared steaks this is the place to go. Pricey yes, but worth it. All the sides/accompaniments would pair well with their steak offerings and were clearly prepared with the same forethought and quality as the main course.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Food was absolutely fabulousThe Food was absolutely fabulous and we had the best service ever. Our waiter was so attentive and had great suggestions. It was our first time here and we will absolutely be back!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic food. Dry aged filetFantastic food. Dry aged filet mignon was absolutely amazing. We had a party of six and everyone was blown away by the taste and quality of the food. We look forward to returning.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat's not to love?We had a great experience. The service was PERFECT. That goes a LONNNNG way...but then, the ambience, and the FOOD were superb, too!! My crabcake was not remarkable, but it was good....I will have a steak next time I visit. My date's Fish was wonderful - crispy, fresh perfection. I really appreciate the cocktails - keep it up, I'll be back at the bar for a snack and a cocktail! The cheese choices for our appetizer were yummy and local - thank you, LOCAL is important to us. There was plenty on the menu for everyone, even a vegetarian, good move! Definitely enough choices there to make us come back and bring friends and know everyone will be happy. LOVE the ambience.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe new standard for fine-dining.Dinner was *exceptional*. I enjoyed my new 'best meal I've ever had' from start to finish. The service was impeccable, the atmosphere was perfection, seriously there was nothing about our experience at Guild & Co. that wasn't outstanding. My menu for the evening: steak tartare which I sadly did not get a picture because it looked so amazing we had to dive right in and it was SO good it made me giggle with the first bite, fresh, warm and crusty bread with fresh-made whipped butter, a properly made Caesar salad for two, a 30 oz. in-house aged, locally raised, table-side carved rib-eye for two served with a side of potato and leek gratin, a proper cup of espresso and finally and toe clenching good carrot cake made by the in-house pastry chef.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant could notThis restaurant could not have been better. Everything was perfect from beginning to end4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMVery attentive service andVery attentive service and great food. Delicious steaks, great sides, mazing fries, interesting apps. Good for groups and couples.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is our second visit toThis is our second visit to Guild, and the food was even better the second time (which was a difficult hurdle to clear)! I had the chicken special, which was far more than a boring chicken dish-- the components were masterfully prepared and I thoroughly enjoyed the dish. My boyfriend took care of a 12oz dry aged ribeye which was cooked to perfection and more succulent that the sirloin from his last visit. The service is great, the drinks are amazing (try a tequila daisy) and we enjoy the diverse menu options.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMEpic meat-eater experienceI'm not normally a steakhouse kind of gal, but we wanted to see what the hype was all about, and Guild definitely lives up to the hype. We finally had a chance to try the World's Best Beer from Hill Farmstead Brewery in Greensboro, and my first sip was so evocative and complex, it was almost psychedelic. Wow. We started by sharing the rabbit terrine, delicate and delicious, and complimented by perfectly grilled bread, pungent coarse mustard and lip-puckering cornichons. For dinner we shared the bone-in ribeye for two, which came perfectly cooked and carved tableside with two excellent sides: rich creamed kale & spinach and a lovely potato leek gratin, some grilled onion on the side and Cyrus Pringle sourdough. Really a perfect Sat night.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, awesome steaks,Great food, awesome steaks, incredible service. The noise level was just a little more than what I had anticipated, even considering we had early (5:30) reservations on a Saturday night. Will most certainly eat here again.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAside from the noise levelAside from the noise level (a bit hard to hear others at our table) the overall experience at Guild and Company was excellent. It was our first visit to the restaurant and we came to Burl, from Newburyport, MA. We loved the interior and the food was first-rate. Burger was to die for, Bass was perfectly prerpared, and the Meatloaf was extraordinary (Not your mother's meatloaf, but my Mother thought it was superb!)4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMTastyMy date started with a salad which came in a good size portion of a bowl. I had the 10 oz sirloin and my date had an 8 oz filet. Both steaks were ordered medium and were fantastic. We both also got the buttermilk whipped potatoes which was delicious. The accompaniments we got were blue cheese butter which my date liked and I got the steak sauce which was sweet and tangy very delicious. Overall good experience me u is a little pricey. Our server was great very friendly and always smiling.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThe waitstaff was very attentive. The waitstaff was very attentive. Wonderful evening.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had excellent food andWe had excellent food and service and enjoyed the decor. Had been here before and liked it. Only problem is, it is a very noisy place! We will return because the quality of the food and service were so good.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service was outstanding,The service was outstanding, our waitress and the extended wait staff were extremely competent, cheerful, and friendly. The food was excellent. My wife and I had the bone-in Ribeye for 2, gratin potatoes, spinach & Ceasar salad. One of the best meals we have had. We were in the upstairs room with the fireplace, great atmosphere. We will be back for sure.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMVegetarian friendly & great steaks!Wonderful service. Excellent food. We had several vegetarians in our party and they were thrilled with the great selection of delicious vegetarian dishes. The steaks wre great, too! A great find.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe menus (adults' and childrens')The menus (adults' and childrens') are terrific, lots of local, delicious choices, perfectly prepared, artfully presented. Atmosphere stikes many good balances: quiet enough for a conversation -- energetic enough to feel fun, hip; could dress up and have a formal evening -- or go casual; romantic -- good for a group, families.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat addition to the restaurantGreat addition to the restaurant scene in Burlington!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was good, ambience wasFood was good, ambience was good, service was superior, nice atmosphere, prices although expected are a little high so that it deletes it as one of my regular places to dine. The place was busy which is a great sign for the Burlington,Vt area. Clearly a welcome addition and an accessible location.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways amazing! The food was excellent and the drinks were superb! The Guild will not disappoint even the toughest food critics. Our meals have always been perfect and the drinks are excellently crafted and always delicious.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful meal on a weekendWonderful meal on a weekend night, loved the crab cake here, will return soon.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMMust-Go!Delicious steaks and even vegatarians fare! These folks know how to cater to all clientele.
They're a cut above other places when it comes to great food, quality, and service.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe thoroughly enjoyed ourWe thoroughly enjoyed our excellent meal, the friendly service, and the atmosphere of Guild & Co. - we're going to have to return multiple times to sample all the amazing things on the menu. For our first visit, though, we ordered the ribeye for two; in addition to being one of the best deals on the menu, it was cooked on the bone and cut at the table. This dry-aged steak was perfectly prepared, tender, and flavorful... and a very generous serving for both of us. Sides were excellent (each of us chose one of a very nice list) and the steak also came with a choice for each of us of one accompaniment for the steak - lobster butter, blue cheese butter, a red wine reduction, béarnaise, etc. - mmmmm. AOh heck - just go. You won't regret it!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat steakhouseGreat first visit . Steaks were perfect . We dined with children and they do have a kids menu. Drinks good , dessert good. Overall great time. We will be going back soon !3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMI loved it, it was my girlfriendI loved it, it was my girlfriend birthday and she loved it also3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time. Love the interior,First time. Love the interior, great color choices. The wait staff is attentive and friendly. We shared the ribeye for two. Our ceasar salad had good flavor but quite a few pieces of romain had large noticeable brown rust spots. We asked for our steak "medium rare" and it was very rare, not that big of a problem because we don't mind it that way and stilled enjoyed the flavor. The one thing that we both found extremely irritating was the bartender was constantly chipping away on a piece of ice. So much for a relaxing and quiet atmosphere.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything about our dinnerEverything about our dinner was amazing, except for the steaks. For all the hype and talk about being a high quality steakhouse, I still left unimpressed. I've been around the block and have had some mind blowing steaks, but the ribeye was OK (a little overcooked, but I'm not picky in that matter) and my date's fillet was just satisfactory. Our sides were amazingly delicious (creamed spinach and buttered carrots), the appetizer was also very surprising and tasty (cured salmon and urugula), and our dessert was delicious (pumpkin cupcake). Honestly, it could just be that I was expecting something that could not be delivered. I guess when it comes to a 50 dollar steak, I expect a very strong product.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe visited for an apres skiWe visited for an apres ski dinner. I showed up with my 10 year old son who noticed that he was the only child in the spacious dining room. We found the staff helpful and knowledgeable. The appetizers put us off to a good start - especially the oysters. Both entrees were outstanding, and we particularly enjoyed the creamed spinach. We were surprised by a complimentary dessert of panna cotta with a citrus gelee, and in spite of being too full to have ordered a dessert, it miraculously disappeared. We highly recommend this restaurant, they are off to a great start and are very attentive to the comments of their patrons.2/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
