  • "Guid's has been a Father's Day tradition at the Malibu location for at least 10 years, continuing in West LA after Malibu closed We have decided that this restaurant is no longer what it once was. The last few visits have been total disappointments. E.g., last Sunday: They cancleled our Open Table reservation, even though we were there & seated at the specified time. The service was abominable. Different servers came by, asking if we had been given menus, told the specials, etc. Were they waiters, bus boys, or some guy off the street that had been given a white shirt and black tie? 15 minute wait for an ice bucket; 20 minute wait for tartufo. Never did arrive! And, most importantly, the food quality has noticably deteriorated."

  • "They were super helpful with our group's needs and dietary issues. One couldn't have spicy food, one couldn't have dairy, one with an egg allergy, etc. We were there for a birthday celebration and wanted something with a low key vibe but upscale. This was the perfect place. I had the white-fish fish special and told my companions that it was probably the best fish dish I'd eaten all year. One complaint: we had to send back 4 (or more) sets of silverware. All had visible chunks of food stuck to them. Not cool. That should be an easy fix and I hope that they fix it soon because I want to return. A great restaurant but check the silverware."

  • "Bring back the good old days.....you can hear yourself talk, big red booths, good service all add to the ambiance at Guido's. The bread has improved with a nice Foccacio and sour dough that are heated....on to a great chopped salad. Entrees were good....we shared two for three enjoy the Chicken Parmesian and Angel Hair Marinara. Service was excellent. You won't see the young jet set, but I do think you will enjoy your experience."

The food is always good the service is great and the environment is charming, cozy, comfortable and romantic. It has that sort of old school feeling which I love and just can't seem to find a place quite like Guido's anywhere."

  • "For decades, my wife and I used to go to Guido's when we wanted an elegant evening. It has been several years since our last visit as we live in the Valley and have avoided the 405 as much as possible during its long construction. However, we recently bought a Groupon with a "can't say no" deal. I'm glad we had it because Guido's was not anywhere near what we remembered. Yes, it is still a lovely place with subdued lighting and red leather booths. But, the food was no more than 3 stars and the personalities of the servers was taciturn. All in all, we will not be returning soon."

  • "Went w/a groupon, Groupon , open table and their own websote don't mention that only option is valet parking for $4.00 per car. Anyway, food pretty good, service slow. I was on the lookout for them to cxl my res based on previous reviews and they did right when we left. emailed open table and they pointed out that if I make res after looking at restaurant site it wont give me points. But open table gave them to me so all good. I would def go back and try again."

  • "Reminds me of how I picture an Italian restaurant in Hoboken might look. Decent bar with really good food. We have been there many times and keep going back. The down side to this last trip was our server was not the normal cheery, interested person that is typical of the servers that we have always had in the past. But the service was OK. Just not as friendly as we have been use to. We will continue to go back for sure."

  • "From the beging service was bad. After more than 5 minutes of waiting we had to find a greeter to acknoweledge we had arrived and would like to be taken to our table. Once seated, menus took another 10 minutes to arrive. It seemed as if we were more of an inconvenience rather than a customer when we asked for drinks. Once served we were not told about any specials but had to ask. The food arrived hot and looked appertizing. Note the word 'looked'. It was completely tasteless. No one seemed to care as no one came by and enquired if everything was allright ! Overall the restaurant and ambience is good but the service,attention and food need a serious makeover. Would certainly NOT return until things have improved."

  • "I've eaten here so many times over the years that Ive lost count, and I've always had a great meal. The found is awesome, my wife's and my favorite is the Dijon Salmon, and I really enjoy the New York Steak too. Their pasta and traditional Italian fare is exceptional, and if you get a salad, the Gorgonzola dressing is incredible. It's a romantic, high end atmosphere with a price closer to a mid-range restaurant. Once of my favorite restaurants in the Los Angele's area, and definitely my favorite around Santa Monica."

  • "this is a great throw back to the early la scala, chasen's aura with leather booths and wood beams...the service is professional, courteous and non-obtrusive to conversation. it is quiet enough to have a conversation, but allows an awareness of a convivial atmosphere which complements the dining experience. at times, the treasures in our own backyard, become lost in the glitter of the newest "shiny object"...return to basics, return to chicken marsala and return often!"

  • "We have been to Guido's a few times, but not for a long while. I think one of the reasons was that we had been away for a while was that we were under the impression that while the food was always good and the service excellent, the menu was pricey. A good value, but pricey. I have to say that we walked away from an incredible meal with a surprise.... the cost was below what we had expected. We will definitely be going back to Guido's more and more. It's a wonderful dining experience."

  • "A previous reviewer had the same experience I did. Guido's likes to CANCEL your reservation after you arrive so you don't get your OT points. Don't know why they do this? Maybe they pay a fee to OT for every reservation booked? But that just makes me dislike this place. If you do book this place with OT, make sure you watch the guy confirm your reservation or make sure to bring your receipt with you so you can dispute any potential issues. I disputed this to OT and they did the right thing and gave me the points. Great job to OT for their quick and correct response! With so many great Italian places in the area, why deal with this kind of shady behavior. I doubt it was an accident they cancelled me. Wouldn't you click NO-SHOW?"

  • "This used to be "the place" you brought out of town guests. But then they recently moved the amazing pictures to where you cannot see them without disturbing other guests. The food is still incredible. The host and manager is still as gracious and professional as ever. The drinks still fantastic. The wait staff still apathetic. Until they decide to refresh their servers with some more concerned and energetic waiters and waitresses, this place will always be one of those places you go to for the food and ambiance, not the service. Just can't believe they moved the pictures. Why come here now? There are other great Italian places on the Westside."

The waiters and Maitre D' were all extremely friendly and everyone had a wonderful sense of humor. Don't know why we haven't gone here more often but that's about to change.   • "The ambience is nice, outside and inside, really liked the look. Food was delicious can't complain at all about that. Enjoyed my meal all around. Service however is lacking, mainly from the owner. I don't want to take this away from the staff/waiters because they were really nice however the owner was a total snob, it kind of affected the vibe of our romantic evening. He glared when we took pictures, he wasn't friendly to talk to at all, we were outside taking pics and he walked by a few times, not cool"

  • "Everything is great at this restaurant - the food, the service. But they too often play their sneaky trick of canceling your Opentable reservation right after you just finished your meal and left. Unlike a no-show, there's no automated dispute process, so you would have to email Opentable and send in a picture of your receipt to get your points back. I encourage all diners whose reservations are cancelled here contact Opentable and report this behavior."

  • "Have eaten at Guido's many times over the years, and it remains at the top of our list for special occasion and feel-good dining. The service is always exceptional. Even when the kitchen is taking a little longer sending out the food due to high volume, the servers are extremely apologetic. Upon exiting the restaurant after dining, our car is waiting for us. How do they do that? The food was delicious from the mozzarella marinara to the lasagna to the white fish special. Over all, another satisfying dining experience."

  • "Everything was fine except when we arrived and the restaurant was one third full we requested one of the tables near the fire place for our party of four and were told they were both reserved even though we had a reservation and when we left 2 hours later the tables were still empty. That is enough to keep me away in the future."

  • "Guido's has some of the best Italian food in the State! The Rigatoni Vesubio is delicious. I would eat it every day if I could! I also tried their special mushroom ravioli with whole grain mustard sauce was also very good. I substituted extra mushrooms for the shrimp. I always like to find new flavors in vegetarian dishes. The caesar salad was the best around. I took a friend who loves Italian food and she had the lamb chops, which were incredible. Perfectly prepared and fabulous flavors with a nice selection of vegetables. On top of everything else, the service is top notch! They care about their patrons and treat us like royalty!"

  • "We used to make Guido's a 2x per month dinner location. That was in the late 90's and early 2000 years. Alway enjoyed the kind and prompt service each time. The food has always been very good. It was nice to return last week for a business lunch after being away the past 6 years, and to find the that warm decor, the nice roomy booths and again the great food."

  • "I have been here many times for dinner, but not for lunch. I prefer the dinner here. The ambiance of the room is more of a dinner atmosphere. There are lots of pasta dishes. Their veal dishes are the best. The servers are attentive and friendly as well as the bar area. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes quiet, comfortable and good food."
