This restaurant seemed to have it most together this week.
Service was prompt, helpful and accommodating.
The menu offered authentic yet modern dishes from Deutschland.
The weather left me craving an opportunity to sit in the outdoor patio, but the inside ambiance was well lit with unique local art. Either way, you cant really lose.

The service was wonderful, the outdoor patio was very unique and pleasant, and the food was just fabulous. We got a nice array of selection since we both ordered of the special restuarant week menu. The stars were definitely the pork entree and Black Forrest Torte with Cherries. However, we did not have a bad dish. The outdoor seating is perfect this time of year— great lighting and general ambiance. The food was very good. I had the special which was snapper. My wife had the cabbage rolls. I was very pleased with 2 delicious small plates: scallops and soft shell crab. The flavors were outstanding. Everything, from salad to dessert was delightful. Our only complaint is that $9.00 for Martinis made with "house" vodka or gin, seems a little pricey. Our waiter had a great personality and was attentive.Their bread is delicious--they have two types--a German rustic type bread and a baguette. I tried the Caesar salad and my husband had the mixed greens salad. Having tasted both, I would recommend the mixed greens salad. The dressing was slightly tart, just the way I like it! The Caesar had tasty cheese and homemade croutons, but the dressing needed to have more flavoring. My husband and I both had the chicken with spatzle and kale. It was very tender, juicy, and had been cooked perfectly. Our eldest son had the homemade sausages--delicious. Our youngest tried homemade noodles--also great. The restaurant is tucked behind a few other stores and is truly a gem you stumble upon if you didn't know it was there. The food was outstanding with a nice selection of small plates & traditional dinner plates. The beer & wine selections were spot on with what the group was looking for. The dessert selection was ample and the chocolate sea salt ice cream with caramelized bananas was amazing. I'm easily pleased but rarely overwhelmed.
Guglhupf, however, delivers. Excellent food, neat architecture and decor, fabulous service. The menu is small, but I like it because it makes selection easy. Anything on there, I assure you, will be marvelous. I thoroughly enjoyed the rib eye that I ordered, and dessert was spectacular also.
I'm also an avid beer-drinker and a fan mostly of German brews. If you're similar, than Guglhupf can be even better.

Service was excellent and quick. We went before a show at the DPAC and had plenty of time (with a 5:30 reservation). I had the mussels as an app and the short ribs as my main course. I could only eat half the short ribs and the mussels i could of had as my main course. The hubs and I shared the dessert, the carrot cake which was to die for! So good. layers and moist and not overly rich. Upon arrival the hostess was kind enough to give us a table farther away from the main entrance as that was originally the table we were going to be given. Thereafter our waitress was kind, informative by letting us know what the evening specials were. She gave us enough space to enjoy the romantic evening and enough service to let us feel as if we were being firmly attended to.Most importantly the food was fanastic! We ordered drinks, schnitzel and a chocolate tart dessert. The schnitzel was tender and perfectly seasoned. They are particular about their mixed drinks when they order them, and Guglhumpf delivered! My parents really enjoyed everything down from the drinks to dinner. Our wine was amazing. I wish we had been seated upstairs where there were more people, but we had a nice time overall. I wasn't too keen on my carrot cake, but I think it was just me. over and over. Best service.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is our 2nd visit to Guglehupf.This is our 2nd visit to Guglehupf. Hubby had the homemade sausage plate with the lentils and the kohlrabi slaw. This was very good. The lentils had a bit of spice/seasoning that really enhanced the flavor. I had the green salad & potato leek tart. SUPERB!! Perfect for a light supper or lunch. My only complaint is that the chocolate tarte was sold out...I was really looking forward to it. Guess we will have to return so I can experience that bit of decadence!!!
We would have liked to lingered and enjoyed another beer, relax and chill abit. Hubby had to pack for a 9am flight, so we will definately be back.
