Our server did not seem very polished or knowledgable. The steaks, which we ordered in the classic style (cooked in an 1800 degree oven) were lukewarm. I'd give it another shot because I think that at its best it would be really good. Unfortunately in my experience it was not."

  • "I ordered the French dip and it was not good. The bread was old, there was hardly any sauce on the meat. The fries were just luke warm & they were tiny like from the bottom of the bag. The restaurant was FREEEEEEZING. We had to order hot coffee for lunch."

However the angliotti lacked sauce and enough lamb and the octopus was over cooked and chewy. Also, the server didn't have a lot of enthusiasm to talk about the menu outside of selling additional sides or sauces. Great wine selection and draft beer selection as well as creative and delicious dessert menu."

  • "We had a great experience! We arrived early for our reservation, but they seated us right away at a window table as we requested. Loved reading the menu-- such a great variety. Bison tartare recommended by server was amazing. Filet oscar style was the best steak we've ever had (and we travel and eat out a lot). Great wine list, too. Server was knowledgeable, friendly and made our experience really enjoyable. We'll be back here every time we're in Denver!"

  • "Yawn… Another steak house, and not that great. Ordered "prime bone-in rib-eye" medium rare and it was not tender, had too much gristle and was under-cooked. Companion had "special" rack of lamb - and it was over-sauced, and too much sweetener (corn syrup I'm guessing). Side dishes were very boring …. Extremely expensive - there are much better steak houses in town, with better value…. Service was great, however..."

  • "The place is cool and contemporary, nice extended bar/hightop area and restaurant seating. Free Valet parking is a plus. Its pretty clear that they are still working through front of house processes, and the service was hit and miss - communications between hostess stand and waiting staff non existent, despite several attempts. Oysters and Fish were very good (Salmon and Black Cod), however the grass fed NY strip fell short of my expectations, and other GF beef experiences - the cut was too thick for a NY Strip, and anything other than rare was tough."

The meat was amazing and the potato had a salt crust which elevated something ordinary into something special. Don't miss the pastry chef's potato rolls they bring out with dinner. It was hands down the best thing we had. Worth every penny."

  • "We had reservations with my parents for my dad's 60th birthday. Arrived on time and has to wait for 10/15 minutes to be seated - no explanation as there were no other groups waiting. On the upside, the ambiance was cool and they've done a beautiful job with the decor... We ordered two appetizers (spinach dip and crab cakes), which arrived BEFORE our drinks. We all thought that was a bit strange. We waited for our food for nearly 40 MINUTES, and our waiter only stopped by to tell us it "should be there in a few minutes"... Once it arrived, it was overcooked and cold, our potatoes had a layer of "skin" on them. We let our waiter know and he assured us we'd be taken care of. We were comped ONLY for 2 of the steaks and dessert!? Won't be back"

  • "Living downtown, I try and hit all the new hotspots for dinner. I have been anxiously awaiting Guard and Grace because I'm a fan of Troy Guard's other restaurants (notably TAG). Took my parents here (they are in their 60s) this past Friday night. Awesome food, fantastic decor but it was VERY loud and difficult to hear (especially for them). The waiter was great but talked too much. I'm all for excitement and wanting to please your diners but it was almost TOO much service. That said, he was very knowledgeable about the food and menu. One of the best steaks I've had in town and I love the variety of the menu. The one downside is the noise. The acoustics in there made it difficult to talk due to the concrete walls and open space."

  • "FOOD: All the food we ordered came out burnt. The salmon was nice and juicy on the inside but heavily charred on top. The octopus? Good... but burnt. The ribeye? Pretty burnt. But the worst of all was the side of "fire-roasted" carrots. One side of every carrot was so black and burnt, I had to scrape it off for fear of getting cancer. I have photographic evidence of all the burnt pieces that piled up on my plate. SERVICE/AMBIANCE: It's a pretty impressive new restaurant. The manager came around to each table chatting with everyone. They also did a good job of refilling our waters. We were also celebrating our anniversary and it was impressive that all the employees signed a card for us. "
