We sat at the bar and had a wonderful meal accompanied by a few boozy cocktails. Bartenders were great, knowledgable, and helpful in regards to travel plans and public transportation. The food was fantastic. We tried shrimp and grits, crab Benedict, and the duck chilequiles. I highly recommend.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMDefinitely one of the bestDefinitely one of the best seafood places in Chicago. Excellent service with outstanding food that you can tell is incredibly fresh. And has been for the past year and half. Consistency is key here. I
have always received great food and top notch service each time I have been here. These guys continue to deliver and I will continue to frequent this restaurant.
A few of my favorite dishes are: shrimp bruschetta, tuna poke, oyster po' boy and lobster roll.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed very tasty food inEnjoyed very tasty food in an outside setting for lunch. The chef made all our food taste SO good that you know that he/she really knows culinary arts. Would return again for lunch or dinner.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMMemorableEach small dish was a lovely combination of flavors and textures -- I highly recommend the grilled octopus and the fish tacos. The kitchen knows what it's doing, and the waitstaff are pleasant and helpful. If you forego the alcohol, you can get an excellent meal for a very reasonable price.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways have a goods all here!Always have a goods all here! Love the

I made a reservation at GT Fish & Oyster to celebrate with my kid sister her graduation from university and I couldn't be happier with the experience we received: the atmosphere and staff were charming, the food was impeccably executed and beautifully presented, every dish was delicious, and the entire service apparatus was gracious and thoughtful. The menu boasts an impressive assortment of self-proclaimed "simple" food with a decidedly elegant flair and tasty combination of flavors. First rate hospitality and dining.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAMAZING food! All small platesAMAZING food! All small plates and all delicious. :)5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGet the Oyster Po'boy. AMAZING!!Get the Oyster Po'boy. AMAZING!! We had that...and also, the ceviche, shrimp bruschetta, etc...everything was just incredible!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGT, you are radicalI went here based on a friends recommendation for my anniversary. He was 110% spot-on with telling me about this gem. The service and food were amazing. The tall glass ceilings allow you to watch your surroundings while you dine on oysters and other treats. Try the oyster po boy slider as well as the oysters. If you're disappointed, you should reassess your palette.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMImpeccably fresh fishHelpful and personable staff, restaurant itself is a bit sterile looking and on the noisy side.
Would happily return.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything we ate was veryEverything we ate was very interesting and quite enjoyable. Of note... I have never seen a dessert menu where I literally could have ordered ANYTHING and been happy (usually there are a couple of "nah, I don't need that" items)-- I wanted every dessert on that menu, they all sounded fantastic.
I will definitely go back. Also, they made sure to treat us "special"- it was our anniversary, and I really appreciated them being extra attentive.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat new chic city spot withGreat new chic city spot with fantastic food. Our waitress was really knowledgable and helped us with menu decisions. Bartender and cocktails also great. Hostess a little hassled and "short" with us, but otherwise a fabulous dining experience. This is one of my new "faves" and will definitely be back. Highly recommend if you love fish and seafood.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMIn Chicago on business withIn Chicago on business with two colleagues and just wanted to get out to a new seafood spot with a great ambience. We were overwhelmed, the service was fantastic, great attention to detail, very knowledgeable staff with great attitude. And the dishes - just out of this world, a great eclectic approach to flavor and textural combinations that appealed to our Caribbean palate. We need to return soon!4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat brunch sceneWe were very surprised how busy and energetic the atmosphere was when we stopped here on a whim for brunch. The food and drink were excellent.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMexceptional experienceFABULOUS meal!! Our favorites were the Fish and Chips, Eggplant and the Clam Chowder. The salted caramel tart was stellar!!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe waited 45 min after ourWe waited 45 min after our reservation time and we didn't even have a problem with it because we were enjoying ourselves at the bar. We received two apps on the house for the delay. Awesome customer service!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMReally had a great time hereReally had a great time here came from NY to celebrate my friends birthday and we really enjoyed ourselves thank you so much! I'm so happy to see some good food in the Midwest that isn't fried or battered ou of taste!!!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGT is a MUST TryThe food is genuinely unbelievable. My girlfriend and I went to celebrate her birthday after hearing all wonderful things from friends and co-workers. We ordered a bunch of different things to try. The sunfish ceviche was the only item we were not all that impressed with. All we tasted was citrus flavor. The tuna poke was outstanding. The grilled octopus was tender and delicious. The beer mustard wasabi that came with it was a perfect compliment and the hearts of palm are a nice touch. We were reluctant at first, but the waitress convinced us to try the oyster po'boy sliders and we were thrilled that we did. The waitress described them as "little flavor explosions" and she was spot on. Last, we had the lobster roll. Simply put, it's a must.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGTOThe best food I've had in a long time! It's worth the wait to get in.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's a New Experience.I greatly enjoyed the entire experience. I'm not a fan of small fancy looking plates kind of places, which is GT Fish and Oyster, but the experience is fun. I would definitely go there if you want to try something new, blow your taste buds' mind, impress a date or friend, or want a place to eat very little. Do not go there if you are hungry and your wallet is tight. To "stuff" yourself, you'll need about 7-10 plates for 2-3 people. This is a nice place to go before you go out for a larger dinner or if you don't want to "stuff" yourself. Going to GT Fish and Oyster for drinks and appetizers might be the best option.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AM.. great knowledgeable staff,.. great knowledgeable staff, our waiter was patient and was eager to help us find the dishes we would enjoy most,... everything was so tasty, lobster dumplings, fish taco's to the stout ice cream/ chocolate desert..would definately go back..4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGoodThe $4 a crack oysters are just silly, if that's what you are going to charge you should take "Oyster" out of your name. If that is what is going to be charged then the variety should be more limited to only the absolute superior varieties. Some that we had were and other fell very short. Crudos were fun yet some seemed over seasoned and too aggressive. Portion sizes were a bit inconsistent. I only say that because we had a party of four. Some were easily shareable amongst us and some were a real stretch. Overall the food was good, not great, playful, but I like a dumbed down less whimsical seafood experience where the product IS the show.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMHot spot! great afterworkHot spot! great afterwork crowd, hip, happening and cool! The food is on point, the service was excellent4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything at GT was amazing!!!Everything at GT was amazing!!! Our server(Derrick?)made excellent recommendations. The oyster po'boys and fish tacos are worth a return trip in itself. Can't wait to go back4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was great. ThereEverything was great. There were just two of us. Next time I'll come back with a bigger group so we can try more dishes.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for brunch with ourWe went for brunch with our 8 year old daughter. Loved the monkey bread we shared to start and then had the chicken and waffles (a must) our daughter had the pancakes, fried chicken and fruit salad off the kids menu. All delicious. Brunch is not small plates so if your careful, you can walk out not spending a fortune and having a wonderful time.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was fabulous butThe food was fabulous but we had no idea that it was small plates when we decided to go here. Those small plates certainly add up. Shrimp Bruchetta, Soba Noodles, Clam Chowder (decided it was the best clam chowder we'd ever had), Fish Tacos & Tuna Nicoise were all amazing. Derek was very helpful and attentive. Thanks for the anniversary gift card!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe shared different oystersWe shared different oysters : really good!! we also the mussels with roasted bread and the octopus which where both amazing. Shrimp Bruschetta- Fantastic! Good Drinks. Great Service. Definitely going back.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMService was great. Wine selectionsService was great. Wine selections good. Food was very good with the exception of the duck dish that needed re-imagining although the duck itself was good. Fish tacos were especially good. So was the eggplant and the tuna poke. It's a fun, lively place.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMOur waiter was excellent notOur waiter was excellent not only for service, but also for his knowledge of the menu and recommendations. The food was phenomenal. Definitely a place we will go again.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMI went there for the firstI went there for the first time recently, and the food was so good I came back the next day. Everything I've had there has been delicious.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMHot spot, even during theHot spot, even during the week. A bit on the pricey side, but dishes were very good. Sliders and tacos were my faves. They even gave us a gift card for a return visit since we were celebrating our anniversary that night.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious, and great service, tooEvery bite was absolutely delicious! Only one problem: There were so many tempting choices that we ate too much and couldn't finish our excellent grilled fish, quinoa and pineapple hot course. Don't miss the oysters to start, of course. Or the tiny crisp shrimp bruschetta and avocado. And the incredible grilled caesar salad with plump fried oysters. And do not overlook the deconstructed key lime pie! All of which can be shared easily by two. We are eager to return. We do wish it weren't quiet so noisy, though.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect for dates of all kindsMy friend and I went just as it opened for dinner. We had a great evening: superior service by our waitress, who was very knowledgeable about the menu and recommended delicious choices. The food, which is shared plates style, came out at a good pace and by the end, we were pleasantly full. Each plate had a taste and a half so if you could really savor and decide what you liked. The wine list was a tad pricier than necessary. By the time we left, the place was comfortably crowded, yet he hadn't been rushed in the slightest to give up our table. Overall, great experience and I will definitely be returning.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Service! Our server was super accommodating to my 4 year old son by bringing out the brunch crayons, leaving off spice from "chips" and requesting cooking the fish (from fish & chips) and bit more crispy. She also was very accommodating to our table by creating our own personal wine flights to pair with each dish. She made great recommendations which I loved.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful experience and greatWonderful experience and great food. I think the 2nd time round will be even better.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely Brunch SpotMy mother was visiting for the weekend and this was the perfect up-scale brunch spot to end the visit. We ordered the Lobster Eggs Benedict and Chicken & Waffles and both were absolutely amazing! Fun little tidbit: homemade hot sauce on the table was yummy!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMI love GT my brunch partnerI love GT my brunch partner pointed out that the french toast was too small. Other than that everything was great!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
