Be aware space can be tight and tables are so close in some areas of this small restaurant that you can touch your neighbors. Not your hockey German schnitzel and spaetzle menu, but good quality, modern Central European food, creatively put together and the presentation is lovely. An interesting wine list goes wel with the food. I could fill up on the pretzel bread and have to restrain myself from not doing so before the food arrives. Friendly, attentive service. On the downside I always feel I am somehow sitting in a hallway. The bencHi sat on is not overly comfortable.

This was our first time at Gruner, great wait staff with knowledge of wine list. Once food was ordered, came out in a timely fashion. Very casual crowd & laid-back atmosphere. The food was quite unusual and well prepared with lovely presentation. The only drawback was that we had to wait 15 or 20 minutes for our reservation and there was no place to sit or stand except right in the waiters' path. Of course it was raining, so standing outside was not an option.
