A word from Grown – A Restaurant for the Community
Grown, a restaurant for the community has been operating as a “pop-up” for over a year and is proud to again feature its original Chef Quninten Frye and restaurateur Danny Kaaialii. They not only assisted in actualizing our inaugural concept at One Song Farm but then returned to do our Father’s Day Steak House.
Salt restaurant and tasting bar their day to day operation has over this last year been awarded Rising Star Chef for Sustainability and Artisan, nominated for a James Beard and won Hale Aina for best new restaurant. Now these two have expanded to develop Cocina a Mexican inspired street food concept. This inspired menu will call upon traditional Latin flavors, yet embrace the flexibility of utilizing what the market has to offer. The $85 ticket includes a full tasting of the menu with wines paired by Sommelier Collin Darrell, enjoyed on one of Kauai’s remarkable hideaways.

A fantastic idea to showcase local foods with a great atmosphere at the plantation. These pop-ups are very valuable for the local community growers and chefs and make Kauai a foodie destination!

Grown is a pop-up restaurant, and our reservation had to be cancelled because the schedule posted on Open Table wasn't the actual schedule, and the restaurant wasn't open when we hoped. We received a pleasant and apologetic phone call from the restaurant informing us of the cancellation. If we have another opportunity we'd love to check them out!

Thoughfully selected menu made from locally produced vegetables, fruit and meat; well explained concepts for take-offs on Italian regional dishes; nicely plated and well served by a congenial staff. It was a delightful experience that I will repeat.

This is an established "pop up" restaurant run by experienced people using local foods and professional chefs from some very upscale local restaurants. The people are friendly, informative and accomodating. If you get a chance to sample this unique experience do not hesitate. This is not a standard tourist restaurant but a weekly event that is staged at a smaller local venue. I highly recommend it to those whose definition of good food is not limited to grilled fish or steak. Bring your own wine and be willing to share.
