The service and food have always been outstanding. We were celebrating a birthday and every server we had wished the birthday girl a HB. Our server was very helpful and was able to answer all of our questions. The service was just right on. Never rushed but still being attentive. My son enjoyed the fillet mignon and I indulged in their perfectly prepared prime rib, (the big cut, of course) along with a generous bowl of sauteed mushrooms and those incredibly tasty-good battered onion rings. The menu also was "renovated" and looks like excellent choices were added. I will work my way thru the menu to try the new entrees. The only change that might not go over well is that now you must order your side dishes separately from the entree, which ends up costing more . East County San Diego might not be too enthusiastic about this "Ruth's Chris House" style of ordering your food.
The service was as always, excellent. We have rapport with each server and bus person and one of the joys of going to The Grove is seeing them again. I had the Cowboy Steak (Ribeye) which was cooked perfectly & I ordered a side of sautéed mushrooms & a baked potato. My wife had the Crab Legs which were the best I've ever had (I ate 2 of them for her & didn't even need butter or lemon, they were sweet).
The main entrees are "a la carte" which is how most fancy recent are now as well. I actually like that so I can order the sides I like instead of having them assume I want veggies, etc.

Following the preliminary artichokes, my son had a filet mignon and I had the cowboy ribeye. Both came perfect for us at medium pink, along with a generous bowl of sauteed mushrooms, a side of steak fries and unquestionably, the world's very best ever, beer-battered onion rings.
I gotta tell you, the onion rings really complimented the entire dinner and we would have missed out on them had they not come recommended by our super-service water, Ray. She gave very good service. The food was fantastic. We had crab cakes, tomato and cheese salad, prime rib, jumbo shrimp. We enjoyed a complimentary desert from The Grove. That was a nice touch. It was somewhat noisy in the restaurant. There was a large group celebrating a birthday. And there was also two couples sitting near us that were loud. The decor is very welcoming and eclectic. We were seated immediately and our waitresss, Kathy, was excellent.
All food items were delicious and cooked exactly to order. During dinner the Food aand Beverage Director came to the table to check on us and. Asked how the meal was. Nice touch. My guests each tried a delicious steak and I tried the ravioli which was delicious. Beyond a "King's Feast". Preceding the steak was an artichoke tray, served hot & with plenty of butter and followed by a bowl of their best in the world New England clam chowder. Timely served by an extraordinarily attentive Ray, the waiter. According to the Manager. A little on the loud side for me but otherwise very good. The manager did deduct our dessert and discounted the dinner for us. Very attentive.
