  • "We went for "Restaurant Week" and found a great variety of items on the 3 course menu. I did the wine pairing and found the selections to be excellent. The food was well presented and nicely seasoned. Some of the dishes were close to being "over creative" with many flavors and ingredients but they all went together well. The service was excellent with immediate seating at our reservation time. Good flexibility on the chef's part to accommodate some food allergies in one of our party. We will definitely return!"

  • "Recently moved to Grand Rapids from Philly and was very happy to find this spot. My husband and I each had the taste of Grove and tried different dishes so we could share. Loved the pork two ways, and the orecchiette. The octopus nicoise was decent (hard to get fresh octopus in MI) and bacon ravioli was good. I'll definitely return. Service was excellent and drinks were great. This is one of the best restaurants in Grand Rapids."

  • "I brought my wife to Grove for her birthday and we arrived to a friendly "happy birthday" and a birthday card. The ambience is nice; the lighting, decor, etc was approprioate and hip. The tables are a little close together, though that can't be helped as their space is quite small. The wait staff was very attentive, but not overly so. I got the sparkling water to feel fancy, and it would always be filled just as soon as I finished it. My wife is vegan and I'm vegetarian so we ordered off that menu, and everything was very inventive and fresh. Though some meat-based portions that came out looks a little small, our portions were plenty big and we both left full. Everything was delicious, unique and we will be back for a special occasion."

  • "Sure, anyone can cook a good meal, but Grove chefs take it to the next level and create an artistic take on their food. The menu changes frequently depending on what they can get at market/local suppliers. We found the electronic menus to be helpful and appropriate for the changing menus. So environmentally conscious. The staff taking care of the front of house were friendly amenable and efficient in their positions. The wait staff (as you don' t have just one) was phenomenal and we were never left to want for anything. Having a birthday dessert for the honey was icing on the cake. (or pudding in this cake) Even a candle. :) Always a treat to go. Hearing friendly on the patio is fabulous!!"

  • "Great food, and I loved the "taste of grove" 3 course menu. For my 3rd course I got the flat iron steak. It was OK but nothing I couldn't have done myself. The portions overall were great, however the steak was VERY VERY small. I understand the quality etc, but for how small it was, the flavor was not there. If It was larger, and decent, I wouldn't have minded. But since it was small and just decent, not amazing, it was a bit disappointing. Overall great experience, the waiter was great and the restaurant is beautiful. We will be back! The shimp and grits was AWESOME!"

  • "The 3 course option is definitely the way to go. The only problem is every menu item for each course looks fantastic so it is hard to choose. Our group had a snack/starter first and then everyone enjoyed the three course option. Portions were ample, flavorful and the presentation was done with flair. No room for dessert but of course managed to share salted dark chocolate fudge. brown butter dipped Field & Fire brioche, bourbon syrup, crème fraiche. Yes. Yes. Yes. Excellent for a special date night or group gathering wanting to linger over dinner. Highly recommend if you are entertaining out of town guests for business or pleasure and want to showcase the bounty of West Michigan harvests from farm to plate. GR is a great place for foodies!"

  • "The food was great, as was the wine :) The service was great as well. I felt that we were just a little bit too cramped for space and that it was just a little bit too loud, which is why I took off one star on "Ambience", but otherwise it was quite perfect in every other way. However, the space and the noise level would definitely compare very favorably with other restaurants for that particular time (it was a Saturday evening)."

  • "Dinner at Grove was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. From the greeting at the door, throughout the meal, it kept getting better and better. We chose Taste of Grove, 3 courses for $35. The scallop ceviche & seared tuna were perfectly prepared. The octopus nicoise and the crispy fried smelt were excellent. The mackerel and pork 2 ways were divine. Each course had some flavor that sparked the whole dish, whether it was kimchi, braised radishes or some other unexpected taste. Dessert was the butterscotch pudding with salted caramel. It's a dish you end up dreaming about. Chef Pat and his kitchen provided a dining experience we won't forget. The only thing that could have made it better was if the dining room wasn't so dark ."

  • "We have been told by multiples friends that we HAVE to try Grove, so we set our reservation for our 10 year anniversary dinner. As we were walking in, my wife and I were commenting about how we hoped that our expectations weren't too high, because we didn't want to end up disappointed. From the first sip of our drinks (Mohito for my wife, Manhattan for me) we were thrilled. When the food came (we each tried their three course meal, and swapped plates half way through each one) we couldn't stop saying how much we loved every bite. We went in with exceptionally high expectations, and Grove exceeded every one of them. Easily our new favorite restaurant. Already looking forward to our next visit."

  • "Lovely restaurant, interesting changing menu, prompt and friendly service. Very popular; reservations a must. We ate here on our way to Stratford and three days later on our return. Each time was a pleasant experience. If you are passing through or from the area this is a restaurant that is worth patronizing. The three course option is a nice way to try different food options. The daily changing menu truly does take advantage of the foods available through the local farmers."

We each had the three course meal and the combinations of fresh, seasonal ingredients in creative dishes were outstanding. The restaurant also has an extensive wine and craft beer list. Our service was exceptional, attentive without being intrusive or pretentious. It was noisy; better acoustics would help. Otherwise it was a perfect dining experience."

  • "Had another nice time and great meal at The Grove. Food was fresh and creative. Drinks and wine list is always good. The 3 for $35 is the way to go. Gives you a good opportunity to try various items on the menu. Service is friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is nothing special. Like many restaurants today it is open, wooden tables and and a mix of booths. We definitely will be back."

The tasting course is a must, if only to give allow you to taste more of their chef's excuisite cuisine. Everything I have ever had at Grove was incredible, with this recent visit being perfect."

It's a local gem with an eclectic menu (not a meat & potatoes type at all!) . . . lots of variety and different vegetables and meat preparations. Such a fun place to eat! My son lives in Chicago and this is one of his favorite restaurants, both here and compared to the city."

The other couple we were with is from San Francisco and they found the Grove to be as good as any San Francisco restaurant and they go out to eat frequently."

  • "I recently visited The Grove to celebrate my husband and daughter's birthdays. It was a perfect evening from the on-line reservation process where I requested their birthday recognition, to the greeting the minute we entered the restaurant, to the birthday card greeting on the table to the fabulous food and service. We took advantage of the 3 course special including the wine sampler, and loved the combination of flavors. We wrapped up the meal with the butterscotch pudding....definitely will order again. Our waitress Lauren was fantastic."

  • "We visited Grove to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The hostess congratulated us as soon as we checked in, and our server brought out a complementary champagne toast. We both chose the Taste of Grove. The food was amazing! Everything we had was delicious and presented beautifully. I was fine with the smaller portions. My husband was a little disappointed with the size of a couple of his courses. He will order the regular size courses the next time. We let our server choose the wine pairing for each course and she did an excellent job! We will definitely go back!"

  • "That's about the best word to describe my experience. I chose their 3-course meal for $35 and it was more food than I could eat. Every dish was delicately assembled and it was almost a shame to eat it. All the food was delectable and I almost licked my plates. I also had a gin and tonic that was made with the small batch tonic and it was AMAZING. Highly recommended. Their menus are also electronic and it shows the wine pairings for each item when selected. All food is sourced locally and you can taste the freshness. Will go here again!"

  • "Packed on a Saturday evening at 5:00 PM, this restaurant offers a gourmet menu and beautiful presentation. A tartare lover, I didn't like this rendition. It wasn't served with bread/toast, which I missed--just a small scoop of chopped beef. The beet salad was tasty (a couple pieces of arugula for greens). Sockeye salmon was cooked perfectly and served on a bed of almost raw summer squash that could have stood a few more seconds in the steamer. Apple salad was okay. The first course pasta dish (something with prosciutto, peas, spinach, cheese, slightly smokey--not on the online menu today) was the best dish of the night. Jambalaya was very good, careful though, the spice sneaks up on you!"

  • "We attended Grove to celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary and as vegetarians, the biggest plus this restaurant had to offer was a very wide selection of courses for those going meatless. The results of our experience were mixed. Some dishes were very good, while others lacked. The beet salad was not up to the standards of what I would expect. Our server was nice, but we were put in a private corner and forgotten twice. From the time we sat down, it was 35 minutes before our order was taken. Worse, it was 45 minutes between our first and second courses. Our water glasses sat empty for those 45 minutes. This is not the kind of service I would expect from a restaurant in this price range (or any restaurant trying to attract people back)."

  • "I've eaten a LOT of dinners out in SW Michigan. This had to rank among the top meals I've had the pleasure to enjoy. Great menu. Lots of choices for everyone. A $35, three course option (that's what we chose). And, a big selection of Michigan craft beef and handmade specialty cocktails. If you could find a restaurant with any of those components that would be great. To find one with all of them is a special treat. Don't miss Grove!"

  • "A 25th anniversary dinner was marked by excellent food and one very unfortunate service glitch. Again: the food was great from the opening trio of "Snacks" we selected to every course and every bite. Vibrantly fresh vegetables studded every dish, pastas were perfect, meats seasoned and cooked perfectly. But as the meal unfolded, my wife's portions were much bigger than mine, something I chalked up to the differences between dishes until my main course came: a lamb t-bone from which I got but two small bites. When I complained, the waiter informed me he thought I had wanted the sampler menu. I had never mentioned that much less ordered it. So I had been skimped on the whole meal. Apologies were profuse but it was an unhappy error."
