GROVE never disappoints! My server was so knowledgeable about the wine list, and ready to point out some of the daily specials. I usually order from the "Taste of Grove" Menu (includes 3 courses for approx. $35). On this visit, Alaskan King Crab was a newcomer to the menu, so I ordered it in a salad, and in a spicy soup (I like spicy) to follow. No "assembly required," the kitchen did all the shell-removal work. I followed this with the Grove scallops--always melt-in-your-mouth. Dessert was pumpkin puree, graham cracker, cinnamon ice cream & toasted marshmallows.

The Grove menu is the most imaginative we have seen in quite a while. Food was wonderfully well-prepared and served promptly. Service was attentive and friendly. Noise level was a bit high due primarily to a large party seated just next to us. Overall, an excellent choice for our anniversary dinner.

Although it was our first time at The Grove, it is now on our short list of great places to dine in GR. The excellent prix fixe menu choices were so abundant, two of us decided to let the server choose for us. We were not disappointed; every course was beautifully presented and delicious. His wine pairings were also spot-on. Hearing that we liked French wines from the Provence region, the Som also brought us a wonderful Tibouren, as a treat. We enjoyed this level of attentive -- but not intrusive -- service all evening. We will definitely return.

We took my in-laws here for their anniversary. We got the 3 course meal. It was good, but after tip we spent over $250 for four people I thought there was a lot of room for improvement. The server needed some education regarding the wine list. My father-in-law wanted to see a beer list and you would have thought he asked the person who brought the food out to do a advance calculus. The veggies were under done. Everything could have benefited from some more seasoning. Overall, I don't think we will return.

We always have had great luck with Grove! You can't beat the service and the good quality. This time was even better than times past. Everything we ate was phenominal, started with vegetable ragout that was so good we wanted to like our plate. Then I ordered the Otto's chicken with tomato grits and succotash, it exceeded my expectations! My husband got the jambalaya he was also in 7th heaven with his choice. This place is worth the $$$$ and will not disappoint. Make sure to make reservations well over a week in advance if you want in before 8:00 on a Friday or Saturday.

We went for our anniversary and had a great time. They coordinated a flower delivery for us, provided complimentary champagne for a toast, and wowed us with one course after another. Cavatelli Pasta had an amazing rich flavor, and the presentation of the Egg "Benedict" was very impressive. The Potato Soup as so smooth and creamy. And you know the presentation is good when all of the tables around you are taking pictures of each dish that comes out! Our server (Nathan) was perfect. Attentive and insightful, without feeling like he was overbearing. Great suggestions on the tasting menu and the wine. And the fact that he looked like Ryan Reynolds (which I don't...) was certainly appreciated by my wife! We will be back soon.

The Grove is not where you eat daily, or pick up a quick bite. We loved the 3-courses. You don't overeat and the food is all quite exotic relative to a "fast casual" dining experience. I think The Grove and Leo's are the only places that offer ceviche, which to me is a sure sign of a progressive restaurant. You could probably close your eyes and point at the menu and be happy with your choice. Everyone talks about how expensive it is, but it's not bad unless you're ordering a $150 bottle of wine. Our server was prompt, but perhaps a little arrogant; maybe that's how these kinds of restaurants are. No complaints really. Our greeter and server made sure to congratulate us on our anniversary and provided small glasses of champagne.

Very welcoming atmosphere, young staff male you feel totally at home as soon as your arrive. I absolutely love the uniqueness of the menu and the fact that the menu changes so often...... every item is a thoughtful "special'. Unique combinations in each dish that you wouldn't imagine the pairings...... but don't ask to leave anything out, each item is there for a reason and in order to get the full taste explosion, you need it all!

I'll start by saying weekly I travel nationally/internationally for business, which means dinner in many great restaurants. Grove in my top 5. We are new to SW MI and took a chance on Grove for our first visit to GR. The Earth to Table concept isn't new, but we like the idea and the menu here supported the concept. With so many great choices, love the Taste of Grove option of trying 3 different items. My wife had the shrimp & grits (WOW-unbelievably outstanding), steak salad and gnocchi. I purposely tried things outside my norm. I started w the smelt (took me back to 1977 in the UP), fried green tomatoes then the jambalaya (WOW-better than Nawleans?). And WOW! The butterscotch pudding!! Menu changes w ingredients, so new foods next time!

This was my first visit to Grove. I formerly lived in Grand Rapids and was recently home for a visit and so decided to look up top rates restaurants on Trip Advisor. Grove has certainly earned it spot as number one! The ambiance and unique styling of the restaurant, complete with tablet menus, made for a great first impression. Our service was outstanding and the food was to die for. Everything on the menu looked absolutely delicious, making choosing my meal the only negative aspect of the dining experience. The three course offering provided a good value and opportunity to try a variety of dishes - all of which were absolutely outstanding. I will highly recommend Grove to anyone in the area.

Had a great night at Grove when I was in town for one night. Menu is huge so making choices was difficult, but Erin helped us through it. $35 three course menu is the way to go. Everything we tried was great. Added a cheese plate and two (yes I said two) desserts each because we couldn't choose. Not the most inexpensive meal but with all that food, a couple drinks, and tip and we were out of there under $150. Super staff too. Highly recommended.

If you're a vegetarian or vegan and want a great meal -- not just a grilled cheese or a salad at a restaurant with limited meat-free options, this is the place to go. Grove, in my opinion, is Grand Rapids' best restaurant. The service is great, too... I went with two friends to celebrate a birthday, and our waitress brought the birthday girl free dessert and also was quick to help us customize our three-course meals. Even my friends -- who are not vegetarians -- ordered off the vegetarian menu because the options were so amazing. I don't have a negative thing to say about this restaurant -- except that it's always so busy because the food is phenomenal!

We went for "Restaurant Week" and found a great variety of items on the 3 course menu. I did the wine pairing and found the selections to be excellent. The food was well presented and nicely seasoned. Some of the dishes were close to being "over creative" with many flavors and ingredients but they all went together well. The service was excellent with immediate seating at our reservation time. Good flexibility on the chef's part to accommodate some food allergies in one of our party. We will definitely return!

Recently moved to Grand Rapids from Philly and was very happy to find this spot. My husband and I each had the taste of Grove and tried different dishes so we could share. Loved the pork two ways, and the orecchiette. The octopus nicoise was decent (hard to get fresh octopus in MI) and bacon ravioli was good. I'll definitely return. Service was excellent and drinks were great. This is one of the best restaurants in Grand Rapids.

I brought my wife to Grove for her birthday and we arrived to a friendly "happy birthday" and a birthday card. The ambience is nice; the lighting, decor, etc was approprioate and hip. The tables are a little close together, though that can't be helped as their space is quite small. The wait staff was very attentive, but not overly so. I got the sparkling water to feel fancy, and it would always be filled just as soon as I finished it. My wife is vegan and I'm vegetarian so we ordered off that menu, and everything was very inventive and fresh. Though some meat-based portions that came out looks a little small, our portions were plenty big and we both left full. Everything was delicious, unique and we will be back for a special occasion.

Sure, anyone can cook a good meal, but Grove chefs take it to the next level and create an artistic take on their food. The menu changes frequently depending on what they can get at market/local suppliers. We found the electronic menus to be helpful and appropriate for the changing menus. So environmentally conscious. The staff taking care of the front of house were friendly amenable and efficient in their positions. The wait staff (as you don' t have just one) was phenomenal and we were never left to want for anything. Having a birthday dessert for the honey was icing on the cake. (or pudding in this cake) Even a candle. :) Always a treat to go. Hearing friendly on the patio is fabulous!!

Great food, and I loved the "taste of grove" 3 course menu. For my 3rd course I got the flat iron steak. It was OK but nothing I couldn't have done myself. The portions overall were great, however the steak was VERY VERY small. I understand the quality etc, but for how small it was, the flavor was not there. If It was larger, and decent, I wouldn't have minded. But since it was small and just decent, not amazing, it was a bit disappointing. Overall great experience, the waiter was great and the restaurant is beautiful. We will be back! The shimp and grits was AWESOME!

The 3 course option is definitely the way to go. The only problem is every menu item for each course looks fantastic so it is hard to choose. Our group had a snack/starter first and then everyone enjoyed the three course option. Portions were ample, flavorful and the presentation was done with flair. No room for dessert but of course managed to share salted dark chocolate fudge. brown butter dipped Field & Fire brioche, bourbon syrup, crème fraiche. Yes. Yes. Yes. Excellent for a special date night or group gathering wanting to linger over dinner. Highly recommend if you are entertaining out of town guests for business or pleasure and want to showcase the bounty of West Michigan harvests from farm to plate. GR is a great place for foodies!

The food was great, as was the wine :) The service was great as well. I felt that we were just a little bit too cramped for space and that it was just a little bit too loud, which is why I took off one star on "Ambience", but otherwise it was quite perfect in every other way. However, the space and the noise level would definitely compare very favorably with other restaurants for that particular time (it was a Saturday evening).

Dinner at Grove was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. From the greeting at the door, throughout the meal, it kept getting better and better. We chose Taste of Grove, 3 courses for $35. The scallop ceviche & seared tuna were perfectly prepared. The octopus nicoise and the crispy fried smelt were excellent. The mackerel and pork 2 ways were divine. Each course had some flavor that sparked the whole dish, whether it was kimchi, braised radishes or some other unexpected taste. Dessert was the butterscotch pudding with salted caramel. It's a dish you end up dreaming about. Chef Pat and his kitchen provided a dining experience we won't forget. The only thing that could have made it better was if the dining room wasn't so dark .

We have been told by multiples friends that we HAVE to try Grove, so we set our reservation for our 10 year anniversary dinner. As we were walking in, my wife and I were commenting about how we hoped that our expectations weren't too high, because we didn't want to end up disappointed. From the first sip of our drinks (Mohito for my wife, Manhattan for me) we were thrilled. When the food came (we each tried their three course meal, and swapped plates half way through each one) we couldn't stop saying how much we loved every bite. We went in with exceptionally high expectations, and Grove exceeded every one of them. Easily our new favorite restaurant. Already looking forward to our next visit.

Lovely restaurant, interesting changing menu, prompt and friendly service. Very popular; reservations a must. We ate here on our way to Stratford and three days later on our return. Each time was a pleasant experience. If you are passing through or from the area this is a restaurant that is worth patronizing. The three course option is a nice way to try different food options. The daily changing menu truly does take advantage of the foods available through the local farmers.

Our anniversary dinner at Grove was the best restaurant meal we have had in the past couple of years. We each had the three course meal and the combinations of fresh, seasonal ingredients in creative dishes were outstanding. The restaurant also has an extensive wine and craft beer list. Gives you a good opportunity to try various items on the menu. Service is friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is nothing special. Like many restaurants today it is open, wooden tables and and a mix of booths. We definitely will be back.

From a great bartender, easy to talk to, to a fantastic server, on top of everything, my dining experience last night was sublime, as it always has been at Grove. The tasting course is a must, if only to give allow you to taste more of their chef's excuisite cuisine. Everything I have ever had at Grove was incredible, with this recent visit being perfect.
