Grotto Oak BrookA happy Mother's Day with HelenI took my mom to Grotto for Mother's Day buffet(her choice). She loved it. When I saw Helen would be taking care of us, I knew it was going to be a wonderful experience. She is by far the best server at Grotto! We were offered glasses of champagne when we sat down and then invited to partake in the buffet. The choices included: scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, eggs benedict, omelets & waffles made to order, ham, lamb, roast beef, chicken vesuvio & limone, salmon, and a dessert table to die for. My only complaint was I didn't have enough room to try everything. I had the cheese ravioli and the portion was perfect for lunch and delicious. Atmosphere is very nice for a quiet lunch, we came later around 2pm so not very busy. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The food was excellent. They have a kids menu but my daughter wanted a steak from the regular menu. When I spilled a glass of water, they were right there to immediately clean it up. We would definitely go there again. FRIENDS WHO WERE IN FROM WISCONSIN AND THEY LOVED IT! DRINKS, FOOD AND SPUMONI WERE TERRIFIC.
FIRST WE WERE SEATED RIGHT BY THE KITCHEN DOOR; WE POLITELY ASKED TO BE MOVED TO A BOOTH ALONG THE
WALL WHICH WAS MUCH NICER FOR CONVERSING. (HOWEVER, MY HUBBY HAS A BAD BACK, IT 'WOULD BE NICE IF THE SEATS IN THAT PARTICUAR BOOTH COULD BE MADE "FIRMER". AFTER A COUPLE HOURS OF SITTING ON THAT "SOFT" SEAT WE HAD SORE BACKS. OTHERWISE THE ENTIRE DINING EXPERIENCE WAS AMAZING.

So, my son's fiance selected Grotto for Brunch for her birthday. The restaurant is nicely spaced and the decor is neutral. The food was set up in the bar area so you were away from tables of people while selecting your food. There was a nice variety of food, both breakfast and lunch items, along with the omelete station, egg station and carving stations. However, in my opinion, the desserts were seriously lacking. Unless you were a chocoholic you had one selection and that was cheesecake. They had a fresh fruit platter at the dessert table but that was completely picked over. 45th Birthday. He seemed very happy. Brian our server was wonderful. Brian was attentive, pleasant and had a great sense of humor. They brought out a piece of dessert to Eddy with a candle.
