GrillroomTheater NightWent here to have dinner before catching a play right across the street from the Bank of America Theater. Very convenient. The food portions were quite large and my Bison meatloaf was amazing. Love the food and the ambiance and the bar seems very large so you can have a quick drink or bite to eat before the theater as well.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfection before the playWhat a wonderful place to dine before the show, which is right across the street. Staff was friendly and receptive to all our needs. One of the finest steaks I have ever had , knife not required. Our new dinner before a show place!!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect for after or before theaterGreat food, but a little pricey. Service was perfect!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent choice for preshow diningWe diner her before seeing a show at the Bank of America Theatre. Being directly across the street, the location was extremely convenient. Our wait staff was very polite and prompt and the food was very good. I would definitely dine here again before seeing a show.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWill be back when I am backWill be back when I am back in town. Great food, atmosphere and price. I took 5 clients to dinner and we all enjoyed our choice of restaurant.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFavorite for Theater DatesThe Grillroom has become our outright favorite for Chicago theater outings. The food is great and service is outstanding. There is minimal ambient noise, if you enjoy conversation. Proximity to the theater district is great.
This was my first reservation made through Open Table and I was impressed at how easy it was, complete with email confirmation. The Grillroom easily accommodated our arrival earlier (1 hour!) than the reservation time though even without reservations I have never had to wait long for a table.
Overall, a great experience.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGrillroom never disappointsFood, service, wine selection is outstanding at The Grillroom. It is our "go to" spot for steak but it's so much more. There is variety in the menu and the chef does wonderful "specials" including seafood. The surprise was an excellent Manhattan Clam Chowder. Our steaks were cooked to everyone's precise order, pleasing us all. It's hard but save room for dessert - - share if you are stuffed! Service is warm and attentive, from the moment you enter, at your table and even as you leave. If you're seeing something at the "Bank of America" theatre, it's perfection. And if you're not going to the theatre, lucky you! The Grillroom is a destination in itself!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThoughtful service, forgotThoughtful service, forgot a book I had put under the table, the staff labeled it with my name and stored it in the office until I could pick it up later, a nice conclusion to a wonderful dinner.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMBusiness AppropriateI have been to the Grill Room many times. It is a great place to take clients and even have a quiet lunch solo. The food is good and covers a variety of taste preferences. The service is reliable and professional.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWould not have ended up atWould not have ended up at this great restaurant had I not been late in obtaining reservations at our usual place. I think we've found a new 'usual place' before going to the theater. Our server was wonderful. He was professional and so pleasant. We all had a great time.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place to eat before theaterWe went to catch a theater show across the street. Our table was ready on time, food was prompt, taste was excellent. Would absolutely dine there again, with or without a show across the street4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner before the show, fishDinner before the show, fish special was amazing and actually better than the steak. Steak was also very good though. Picked the Grillroom since directly across the street from our hotel and the show, was not disappointed. Service was prompt, waiter was helpful and knowledgeable.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe wanted something closeWe wanted something close to the theater and this couldn't have been more convenient or delicious. We parked in the same building and walked right in and were seated before our reservation time. The menu had so many choices that we would have liked. We had an appetizer, 3 meals, 2 glasses of wine, a drink and our bill was $140 before tip. Not bad for downtown nice dining. Server was friendly and our daughter's birthday dessert was on the house. We will go back if we are in the neighborhood.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMDate NightIt was date night with the husband. I had the petite filet, and it just melted in my mouth! My husband had the Whitefish and it was delish! Had some drinks, dessert and it was just a wonderful evening! I don't mind spending alot of money on food when its going to be good!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFood fine, service touch & goMy party of 4 dined here just prior to seeing the show "The Book of Mormon" Interestingly enough when you hit the links for places to eat near the venue this place does not come up? Once seated our starters came out quickly. The cocktails were a little slow but not a major issue. Main courses were delivered at the right temperature. I was surprised my meal (the pan seared salmon) came with green beans and a bed of mashed potatoes. Our waitress steered me away from ordering green beans to share but not the roasted yukon golds??? Extra starch anyone? Our waitress later threw the bus boys under the bus because the water wasn't being filledas quickly as possible. Would certainly go back!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMPre musical hot spotGreat steakhouse- fish alternates also very delicious. Great place for any pre-musical/play dinner!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food. It was unbelievable! I highly recommend this dish to anyone.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat choice after a showGood food, good service, the waiter was attentive and the prices are very reasonable. The menu has a wide range of options from fish and red meat cuts to special side dishes like Mac and Cheese and squash. They also have amazing appetizers. I recommend the calamari and stuffed mushrooms.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMNice for after a showWent to Grillroom after a show. The theatre is right across the street so access was great. We made reservations for 5:30 PM, but the show let out early. The resturant didn't open until 5:00, but they allowed us to seat early. Our waitress was decent, but did not seem to be able to focus. The food was great. The Lobster Mac with Truffle oil was superb, and the steaks were all cooked correctly. Now, for calling itself a Winebar, we were a little disappointed in the selections, but what they do have is very good. We will definatly eat here again.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe came right from the theaterWe came right from the theater at 5:00. Our server was wonderful...very attentive but certainly not rushing us. All of our meals were delicious: the lobster salad had lots of chillled lobster. My husband added the gorgonzola cheese to his steak and it was great.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe ate here before The BookWe ate here before The Book of Mormon and the timing was perfect. Our server was attentive and friendly. The cocktail menu was inventive and the drinks I ordered were very tasty. Our meals were excellent. The pistachio crusted tuna was a large portion and perfectly rare. The lemon rosemary chicken was moist and flavorful without being too strongly rosemary-flavored. The side of steamed green beans were nicely cooked, not mushy at all. I'd definitely return for another meal!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went to Grillroom becauseWe went to Grillroom because of it's proximity to the Bank of America Theatre. We sat in the bar area so we could watch the March Madness games. The food was good and it was a lively scene. I would go back for the bar area.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMConveniently located acrossConveniently located across the street from the Bank of America Theater.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Grillroom was an excellentThe Grillroom was an excellent choice for dinner after a Sunday afternoon at the Bank of America theater.
