Went with four friends before a play. Cedar plank Salmon, flat iron steak and pork chop were all great! Very nice service. We were able to find street parking. But, I can see where parking would definitely be an issue. Older restaurant but well kept and elegant. Definitely would go back.

The restaurant was fine but nothing stood out. Server was friendly but not very attentive. I would've ordered a second glass of wine but he stopped at the beginning of the meal and never came back until after the plates were cleared and by then I wasn't needing a beverage. The restaurant was accommodating moving my reservation up an hour and I appreciate that.

It's easy to drop a grand when dining in Chicago on business. The Grillroom has a great menu, great food, great service & good atmosphere. Kind of like Shaw's in its decor. It was not packed, too. The steaks are upper but not top shelf, and sometimes that is just what you need when feeding a team. Could use a little updating inside.

We went to this restaurant because it is right across the street from the Bank of America theater. It was a nice surprise. The crab cake appetizer was great, the filet mignon was so tender, and the service was most attentive. Couldn't have asked for a nicer pre-theater experience.

Went there because of location to theatre (right across the street). Great before theatre location for parking too. While tasty, we had to ask to have our meal heated as the mashed potatoes were cold. Also coffee luke warm. Server polite and did give coffee and dessert free to compensate, but don't understand why meals not hot.

The Grillroom has good food, nice wine and is conveniently located across from the Bank of America Theatre. All of this makes it so frustrating that they do not handle theatre tickets well at all. We let our server know we had tickets and she teased us about it and said no problem, we had plenty of time. And then everything was slow and we found ourselves rushing to get out on time. First time no big deal, but it happens every time we've been there. It's a decent place, but I don't recommend it before a show.

I was there to have lunch in the celebration of my anniversary, the host was not warm enough when we arrived, table was set and reservation respected well. Food, we ask for the Kansas steak and the sirloin steak, we asked for medium well done and we didn't get it in that way, I have to ask to cook more my wife's plate..The Chimichurri sauce was great! When waitress bring the dessert list, she indicated that one in particular was no available, but when I ask for a different one she came back from the kitchen saying that was not available either. The dessert was on the restaurant, I did appreciate due the ocassion, I think the host should be more warm on the welcome. Overall no impressed comparing with Capital Grill in Milwaukee...

We decided to get in because we (my wife and I) were walking through the area and we were hungry. We had the tuna tartar which was really good and a t-bone, beer and red wine. A little pricy if you ask me. The steak was also good (not as great as the Tuna tartar), but with that price tag I would expect more. I wouldn't go back probably.

Waitress knew our dinner was before attending theater. Immediate service, drinks, salad course & then entrees. Excellent service then became non-existent. We waited 20 minutes after dinner plates were cleared to flag down the manager because our waitress was nowhere in sight. He provided excellent apologies and care as he personally took care of getting us another wine and dessert. He told us it was on the house with his apologies for the service problems. The waitress came back eventually with check, no apologies for her poor attendance to our table and then charged us for the dessert her boss provided free of charge. There was no time before theater at this point to do anything but pay the "wrong" bill and leave. Food trumped service.

Superb food, well plated. Server could not have been more pleasant and attentive. Across from B of A Theater. Give yourself time to enjoy a well prepared dinner. We parked in the same building, ate, and crossed the street to the theater. Convenient downtown spot. Downtown prices. I had the salmon. Perfectly done. My spouse had the filet. She commented that it was the best she has had. We shared and order of mashed potatoes to accompany our entree. Had the onion soup as an appetizer and one of the draft beers from a nice selection.

We went here for dinner after a performance at Bank of America theater. It is right across the street. We were pleased with the upscale yet casual atmosphere. It was excellent for ladies that needed to eat a nice dinner and get to a train on time. The selection of wines and cocktails gave us plenty of options. None of us were steak hungry but there were lots of steaks on the menu. The whitefish and the herb chicken were enjoyed very much and the consumers said they would order again.

The only thing going for this restaurant was location--across the street from the Bank of America theater and they had availability on Saturday night (and now we know why). Macroni and cheese was the blandest we have ever had. Flat iron steak was good, but needed to be sent back twice to get it cooked to medium well (we weren't charged for it). Whitefish was good, and sweet potato fries were excellent, as was the soups. Service was not good, especially considering they were not busy at all. No inquiries about another drink, how was our food (maybe they knew). Fortunately we had extra time, as it was also quite slow.

We had a pre-show dinner here. We arrived at an early time, so there was still quite an after work buzz of noise in the bar. We were not sure why they seated us so close to the bar, given that there were open tables further back in the restaurant. Our waiter, Kendall, was outstanding. The beet salad was excellent. My husband's steak was so-so. My Quinoa with Market Vegetables was very runny. The taste was ok, but I've never had a quinoa dish that had such an excess of liquid. I don't know if that's how it was supposed to be or if something went wrong. The best part of the meal was that we didn't have to walk far to get to the show.

Last minute trip to Chicago and booked table for two during the day of the reservation. No issue getting the time we wanted. Very nice place, but was very empty when we arrived for out 7:30pm reservation. Bar was busy with after work folks watching sports on TV, but only 3-4 couples in the restaurant. I tried to get reservations at a couple other places but there was only before 6:00pm and after 9:30pm available. Just curious why the Grillroom was so available. In nutshell, steaks were great, soup and salads were great, drinks were great. Bus service was great and attentive. Waitress a bit curt and lacking in attentiveness, but okay.

Total rip off.Sandwitch was not that good.A Glass of wine (house pour)was $12.00 also not worth it.Cant charge what you do to make up for high rent that you must pay. Skip this one....

Apparently many of the downtown restaurants are rather empty on weekend nights. That was the case with this one. Our group of 5 arrived late after NU game, about 8:45, and found only one other table of diners. It was very relaxing, the New York Strip special was delectable, two of us had the Mac 'n Cheese, which was creamy and flavorful. We all had salads, and shared a couple of appetizers. Food is very good as is the service. It was walking distance to our Loop hotel, and made the perfect ending to our long day. I understand it is crowded at lunch, so perhaps we lucked out. When in Chicago have a steak, and the Grill Room is a great place to order it.
