  • "Grillmarx was a perfect choice for our party of 8. Everyone had different dining needs and restaurant was able to meet all our needs. Pork tenderloins, the filet and Mahi Mahi were delicious."

  • "We really like GrillMarx and go there abput twice a month. The food is reliably good, the waitstaff are pleasant and effiicient, but the reception could be better. I always make a reservation but always have to wait 10-15 minutes beyond that time and there is a very small area for waiting if you don't go to the bar...and there isn't anywhere to sit there either."

  • "And i had heard that GrillMarX was the place for a good, reasonably priced steak. I ordered the ribeye "Pittsburgh-ed". It was overcooked. My girlfriend's surf 'n' turf was better. Bottom line - if you want a really good steak, you're going to have to pay the Ruth's Chris/Morton's price. Service was excellent (Chris). I'd try a burger or something else next time."

  • "Excellent restaurant...like eating in downtown Bethesda, only more convenient! Food is consistently good...try the steak tips, delicious! Also, a nice wine list... fairly priced."

  • "The food is outstanding and the servers are very attentive. We are so glad that the restaurant is available to us."

  • "The rib-eye was perfectly cooked and tasted great, and my husband was very pleased with his large rack of ribs. The noise level wasn't too bad, although sometimes the bar has gotten a little too boisterous on previous visits. The server was attentive and courteous. We brought our friends and will certainly do so again."

  • "I've had steak in a lot of places in New York and Chicago...and GrillMarx's filet mignon has been probably the best I have ever tried. I requested Gorgonzola cheese on top and it was amazing. I also took a bite of my friend's New York Strip and was very tasty but still not as good as mine. The price was substantially less than your usual NYC or Chicago Steakhouse to my surprise also. I hope we get GrillMarx in Chicago soon!!!"

  • "We have been here several times always a good experience. The food has been good, some times better than others but never below par."

  • "We have been here a few times and loved it each time. Make sure you make reservations as they are quite busy on Fridays and Saturdays at the minimum. The waitstaff were courteous and helpful. We enjoyed the food and felt it was priced appropriately. We will definitely return there!"

  • "The food was very good but the restaurant is VERY loud. I don't have hearing difficulties, but at times I couldn't hear my companion. We found that we had to talk loud just to hear each other, which only adds to the problem. There were a few tables nearby that were extremely loud. There were no other open seats available, so we were stuck next to a very loud, raucous table."

  • "steaks were fatty and not very tasty. i had the strip (medium rare). my friend had the rib eye which was very thin and extremely fatty. he returned it and they gave him a filet, which was fair. another ordered the chicken. he liked it but i thought the spices were offensive. I enjoyed the shrimp cocktail, the baked potato and the broccoli."

  • "I want to like GrillX mofre than I did. Good location and concept, attractive decor, etc. But the food and service have been disappointing on my past (2) visits. The servers are not well trained and it shows. The food is mediocre and way overprices for what is delivered to your table."

  • "We enjoyed our early dinner and ended up staying there several hours. We had 4 dinners and every one was exceptional but the crab cake. My Gorgonzola NY strip was very good and the garlic spinach was great. We look forward to going back to Olney and may try the one in Clarksburg soon."

  • "Time after time, this restaurant pleases. The grill always delivers delicious, well prepared and served steaks and prime rib. I don't eat much seafood, but my dinner at companions seem pleased with fish selections. (Crab cakes, crab dip, and shrimp bring raves.) The misses have been few: a sauce on steak tips too salty, house made salad dressings trying to be able different and ending up a poor tasting mishmash. Consistently good (and often great) service. Impressively, that service seems best when the restaurant is full. I like this place. It's been a lovely addition to Olney."

  • "Very good experience over all, but the bar tenders need to learn how to pour a pint: large heads due to allowing the beer to foam go flat quickly, leaving a short pour in the glass."

  • "can' beat Grill Marx for their consistent service and food quality!"

  • "Amazing food. Amazing service. Love this place! My girlfriends and I always get the crab dip for an appetizer. It comes with bread but you can also get chips with it. The three of us had the shrimp & grits, chicken finger basket, and the crab cakes for entrees and it was all soooooooo GOOD! We had the hot fudge sundae and the apple crisp for dessert and it was also yummy. We had Ryan for a server (2nd time having him) and he is just AWESOME! Highly recommend him and GrillMarx!"

  • "Dropped in after seeing "I & You" at the Olney Theatre Centre, which is just a few minutes east of the shopping center in which GrillMarX is located. All four of us were happy with our meals, which ranged from NY strip through surf & turf to a very rare tuna steak. Service was quick and attentive. Being near the birthplace of MADD, we drank lightly, but thought the wine list and bartender were good. We look forward to returning after other Olney plays."

  • "Really exceeded my expectations in every way. Get the Kona ribeye!"

  • "My guest ordered the sirloin and "jumbo" crab cake. Given my experience with other items from the menu, I can only say, "Shame on Grill Marx for serving such a poor crab cake." My meal met the usual high standard for Grill Marx."

  • "Dinner with friends to celebrate my husband and my wedding anniversary. 3 of the 4 of us were happy with our meal, unfortunately, my husband's steak was full of gristle and too much fat. I chose GrillMarx specifically for the steak experience for my husband and was thus disappointed. My ribs were delicious. We all agreed that the noise level was awful, it was difficult to hear any one other than the person sitting right next to me."

  • "The food was good....best ribs in town, but everything is very rich which is the only reason I did not rate it higher. The group of us got different dishes (as usual) and tried each one. The ribs are consistently excellent. B/c it is so rich we only eat there about every six months or so."

  • "My parents were visiting from out of town, and we decided to try out GrillMarX. Having reservations was definitely a good idea, as the restaurant was already packed at 6 on a Friday night. Our server was very good--personable without being pushy, helpful, and attentive without being overly so. The ribs were great, and my mother was in love with the garlic spinach that came with her steak. The steaks themselves were good, as were the desserts--of which the portions were VERY generous. My parents seemed disappointed that there are only two restaurants--they were hoping it was a larger chain and they could find one closer to home. The only downside is that it does get a bit loud, so hearing can be something of a challenge."

  • "I suggested grill Marx when my family was. I siting me... I am a vegetarian so I thought they could use a steak after staying with me for a few days. They were very happy with their burgers and ribs. I was surprised and pleased that my veggie burger is among the best I've ever had! They are a place where vegetarians can really enjoy themselves when they are with meat eaters!"

  • "Decibel level a bit high for casual conversation but the service was very efficient & friendly and the food outstanding. We both had the Mahi-Mahi fish sandwich and it was delicious plus the fries were tasty and not greasy. Extensive menu choices with something for everyone. Apple crisp with ice cream was a nice finish."

  • "Because the tables were so close together, I believe this setting was more appropriate for friends and families. Would like to see a few more vegetarian options with protein (not just pasta). We need to provide healthy options for everyone!"

  • "While the food is always great (crane cakes and prime ribs) the noise level was very high. I realize that it was Sat night but my wife and I could barely hear each other."

  • "The service was great - our drinks were filled by at least 3 people - and service was great. I did complain about by side dish and was offered another, which I declined, but that was on me. It is loud - but you can hold a conversation. I enjoyed the Kona ribeye and the salad dressings are made in house. The cheesecake is divine! I know we will be back!"

  • "My husband and I enjoyed dinner at this local reataurant for the second time this month. I was able to order my filet mignon and asparagus seasoned simply with salt and pepper, as I am allergic to onion or garlic. They were quite tasty. The accompanying baked potato had a nice, crispy skin, showing it wasn't steamed in foil, as so often happens in restaurants! What a treat!"

  • "We love having a good steak house in the area. The service is always excellent and never rushed. The only reason I gave 4 stars for the food is that, unlike prior experiences, my steak was not delivered as ordered. It was still delicious, just a little overdone for my taste. The sides are plentiful and varied and the wine list offers enough choices for picky oenophiles. It's our go-to place for celebrating special occasions locally."

  • "When looking at the menu I thought it was reasonable for high quality food. Afterward, I thought it was overpriced. The crab soup was good, far from exceptional. The amount should have been in a cup. The sirloin was tender, but not very tasty, the Kona Ribeye was flavorful, but was tough for a piece of prime beef. The brussel sprouts might as well have been cooked in a microwave, very bland.. We did try an appetizer of ribs, they were very good although not very meaty.. I would try it again, with lowered expectations. Sorry."

  • "VERY good food, honored Open table reservation. Very lively place, not a place to go for a quiet visit with friends. Service split amongst staff members, one takes the order, another serves, no one comes back to see if you are satisfied or need anything. Good and fresh coffee, but no dessert menu. Had to go next door for ice cream!"

  • "An attentive, funny waiter made the evening a lot of fun. Although we had to wait several minutes for our reservation, the waiter immediately made the inconvenience go away. He was funny and knowledgeable. Food was outstanding."

  • "My husband ordered the surf and turf. The crab cake was extremely fishy tasting. His beef was good. My prime rib was lacked flavor. in the course of the evening my water glass was never refilled, would have appreciated that."

  • "We have been here several times, and the food never disappoints. The baked potato soup is outstanding. The only problem we ever have here, is that it routinely takes a very long time to get anything from the Raw Bar. This isn't a major issue in the grand scheme of things, because others appetizers are never late, entrees always come out on time, and the food is very good. There is always a wait here, so make a reservation - a few days ahead of time if you plan to go on a weekend - or be prepared to sit around."

  • "Had to wait 15 minutes for a table for 2 with a reservation. Waitress did not know how to interpret the wine list prices Wine list is good. Appetizer, Salad and Entrees all arrived at the same time for dinner. WTF. NEVER FILLED WATER GLASSES. Food was Ok."

  • "We came here for Valentine's Day and had a good meal. I was actually glad they didn't have one of those garbage prix fixe menus that a lot of places do for V-day. I got their $30 T-bone and my fiancée got their $27 ribeye. Both were good, but certainly not worth the price. The sides were good, I got a baked potato and she got a sweet potato, we got the mac'n cheese to split. We also got a couple cocktails. Our total bill was about $90. For a little more, you can probably go get a better steak at Ruth's Chris, S&W, etc but this was still a nice meal. Overall, a nice dining experience. I will come back and I would recommend this as a neighborhood gem. The bar was pretty busy that evening and seemed like an energetic crowd."
