They sat us near the back towards the kitchen, and while the concept of an open kitchen looks nice, it's very difficult to hear others talking when you have all the white noise in the background from the kitchen exhaust fans. The food was excellent. Several folks at the table ordered their grilled fish, while others ordered seafood pasta dishes. All of the dishes were well prepared. The server was attentive. I didn't realize there were other locations, so was beyond happy to run across the DC location. The food was every bit as good as I remembered. My husband and I had oysters (not part of the brunch deal) to start and they were excellent. Our brunch was delicious. We both had the crab cake eggs benedict on a bed of potato pancakes. The crab cakes were surprisingly good and just the right amount of hollandaise graced the eggs benedict. Even the grilled asparagus were well prepared and tasty. We had mimosas that were mixed with excellent quality juices - orange and peach. A great brunch experience and we'll be back.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMPriceyI spend money on seafood, not a problem for me. I spend 30+ on maryland blue crabs weekly, so dishing out money on food is not a problem. I ordered one drink and appetizer and fish and it totaled over $60 just for my meal. As the experience was fun for a ladies night out I would not go back unless someone else was paying.

I had been there several years ago and liked it very much so decided to try again. It was fabulous. The special of the evening, bronzino, was probably the best fish I have ever eaten. In addition, the vegetables (fresh peas and green beans) were grown on their farm in southern MD and were also fabulous. We had 2 deserts (key lime pie and creme brule cheescake) between the 4 of us and both were delicious. Highly recommend and will be back soon! Our server was Chris and he was just attentive enough, knew the details about every dish and made great recommendations. They should add a few choices to the list. The meal was outstanding. Fish and mushroom chowder was flavorful and the kitchen allowed the taste of the mushroom and fish to shine by using a light hand with the cream. I had the arctic char, along with vegetables and a coconut/red curry dipping sauce. I did not make much use of the sauce, as the fish was great without it. My friend had seafood fra diavolo, for which he felt the missing component was grated parmesan - which the waiter brought quickly and with a smile. Desserts are definitely worth indulging. We both love seafood restaurants (from raw to cooked), and Grillfish was the perfect choice. We shared the Mixed Grill for Two, and our fish was cooked to medium-raw perfection. The scallops were among the best I've ever had, and the dipping sauces were incredible--particularly the sweet onion. In fact, you could smell them preparing the sweet onion sauce from our seat across the restaurant from the kitchen, and it smelled fantastic . We paired this dinner with a nice shiraz (mojo rojo--pretty incredible) and finished it off with some dessert.
