  • "The seafood here is just so good. The specials are creative and enticing and the regular entrees are equally top notch. Overall this is a great spot."

  • "We went there for our six month anniversary and had a great time! The service was wonderful as soon as we walked in the door. We both agreed that the food was amazing...best we've tasted in the city so far. He had the arctic char and I had the Grilled Shrimp Scampi over Linguine and they both amazing!! We will definitely be going back soon!"

  • "I had a cousin in town who I had not seen in many years and suggested we bring the family together downtown somewhere for dinner. I selected Grillfish for its location and diverse menu. Our party was 13 people plus we needed a high chair - so 14 in all on a Saturday evening; but from the moment we walked in, we were welcomed. Our table was ready for us and our server Meghan was very attentive, friendly and patient with our group - ranging in age from 20 months to 87 years. The service was fast and the food was excellent. Everyone had a wonderful time. It is always a risk bringing a large group out anywhere to eat, but thanks to Meghan and the rest of the staff at Grillfish, our reunion will bring us happy memories for years to come!"

  • "I love Grillfish, but usually only go their when I have friends from out of town staying in that area. Each time is a treat and this time I ram going to grab my Penn Quarter neighbors and head that way. The monk fish and mahi-mahi with different preparations were both great as was the calamari appetizer followed by the mango creme brulee. Bobby, our waiter was very thorough in going over the menu and making suggestions. We followed most and were delighted. He was great --- just the right combination of friendliness and not interfering with our conversation. Highly recommend Grillfish. I wish you would open in Penn Quarter ---- I would be a regular."

  • "We had a very good server who was attentive without bothering us. The food was prepared well withame but not oversized portions"

  • "The scallops were the best I have ever eaten. Not only were they cooked perfectly but the sauce made them the best! My husband is not a seafood eater so he had steak and we didn't know what to expect but it was excellent! The place is a bit casual and bar like."

  • "Great decor, excellent food, a really fun place and we'd go back for sure. Seafood is the focus and it was all excellent, althogh the oysters were only OK."

  • "Looking for a restaurant near Dupont Circle, we decided to try this seafood-focused place on New Hampshire. This small restaurant is very nice and the public seems to be composed mainly of families or groups. This also means that the place is not exactly very quiet. Regarding the food, we had ginger calamari (outstanding), mixed grill (good) and one of the daily specials, i.e. a branzino (very good). While the prices seem very reasonable and inferior to similar places, the portions (as someone else highlighted) for cheaper options are quite small. The mixed grill consisted in two small skewers, while the whole branzino came at a hefty price. Overall this is a nice seafood restaurant, but don't go here thinking that you'll save money."

  • "Grillfish is one of those places that is always on its game. The food is fresh and tasty. We all had fresh fish. Each dish was great. The drinks were perfect. It was a pleasure in every way. The restaurant was completely full, yet service was not slow and the restaurant did not seem frenzied. Everyone who has ever served us there has been a complete professional. This time was no different."

  • "My guest and I really enjoyed our evening at Grillfish. We arrived a little before our reservation time, but the host kindly sat us early without a problem. Grillfish has a nice selection of wines by the glass. For dinner, we enjoyed the grilled salmon and brussels sprouts (which were the best tasting brussels sprouts I have ever had). We also had the housemade ravoli of the day. The desserts were the highlight of our meal. We had the Mango Key Lime Pie and the Caramel Cheesecake Brulee. Words cannot describe how good both of the sweet treats were. Our server was also perfectly attentive. He was there when we needed him without imposing and spoke highly of several menu items when asked for his recommendations. We will be back again!!"

  • "First time at Grillfish DC, but not the last! We were seated promptly at a comfortable table near the window. Service was upbeat and attentive. Menu had a nice selection, with something for every taste, but the specialty appears to be good fish cooked simply. Great rustic bread with a sundried tomato and olive tapenade--addictive. The fish and mushroom chowder was heavenly. Mixed grill and scampi were cooked to order, well-seasoned, beautifully presented. Of note, they also have some hard-to-find non-alcoholic beverages--if you're a ginger lover, the private label ginger beer is very spicy, and won't disappoint. Altogether a good meal, and would definitely recommend!"

  • "Outstanding seafood. The whole experience was fantastic from beginning to end! We should have just gone back for our second night in DC rather than trying a different restaurant!"

  • "We were in town for a few days, and on our first evening, discovered Grillfish DC. It is a small, intimate, fantastic seafood restaurant with an excellent menu and great service. We were very pleased to find this gem right around the corner from our hotel in DuPont Circle."

  • "The food was very good. We had two people in the group who ordered eggs benedict and wished that the yolk was runny, but other than that the eggs, potatoes, as well as lunch dishes were perfect. We had a nice selection of brunch cocktails and enjoyed our relaxing brunch. The service was fabulous, attentive, and very easy going with splitting the check."

  • "Party of 20 all served courteously and efficiently. Wonderful wait staff and management very accommodating. Food was excellent and served hot. Not easy for 20 people."

  • "I went there for Brunch. I had the crab cakes benedict which was very tasty, however, the crab cakes were about the size of a quarter, the portions were extremely small! As a result I thought the food was grossly overpriced for the portion size. I ordered coffee which was cold. I informed the waitress and she promptly returned with a fresh hot cup. She also ensured my refill was hot. Overall it was a very chic restaurant, the staff was very friendly and the service was outstanding, it was just overpriced. I would like to go back and try the lunch or dinner menu and see if that's more reasonable!"

  • "Had no idea we'd be so delighted with our meal and our experience. Bobby, our server was attentive and helpful - he recommended the ginger calamari (wonderful) and the rockfish (local wild caught, grilled to perfection). The rockfish came with a very nice dipping sauce but I couldn't bring myself to dip more than a few bites because the fish itself was so moist and had such a wonderful wood smoke grill flavor that it was even better all by itself. The tamarind margarita sounded interesting; turned out to be one of the best margaritas I've ever had. The key lime pie was beautifully presented and quite enjoyable, as was the espresso martini (we had to take a picture). Recommended GrillFish already to a coworker."

  • "I stayed at the hotel across the street and had dinner here alone. The service was very good, the food was good but not exceptional. The one thing I did not like was the noise level which was very high. This seems to be the case in so many popular DC restaurants these days, so maybe I should not rate it down for that, but the noise level was such that people had to speak very loudly to have conversations."

  • "The service was outsanding - friendly and smiling staff make you feel welcomed. The oyster appetizer was very good, so was the buffalo macaroni and cheese side dish (a little on the spicy side, but I loved it with the fish!). Atmosphere was very relaxing. Good place to wind down the day in the evening."

  • "Wonderful experience from beginning to end. The reviews were spot on. Great ambience, helpful & personable, professional staff with great recommendation. But the main attraction is the food. I had the pistachio encrusted Mahi-mahi prepared perfectly over garlic mash with white asparagus. Goes to the top of my favorites list."

  • "We started with drinks at the bar, and got a great martini. The squid ink risotto was amazing, and so were the scallops with pork belly. But the best part was our waitress, who was knowledgeable, helpful and very attentive."

  • "We love this place when we want our fish fix. Their mixed grill gives us a taste of multiple types and they are always fresh and well prepared while not being preposterously expensive. Our server was wonderful and made our experience great. The only negative was they had an almost entirely empty restaurant and sat what few diners in the restaurant together side by side. It was slightly annoying until we were half-way through our bottle of Rose' and didn't care any more."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "The menu is limited and the fish, though fresh, are smothered in oil to the extent that natural tastes are lost. Additionally the restaurant packs tables in and pits guests against each other to find space for coats and bags."

  • "I went to Grillfish for a late (2pm) lunch, and it was pretty much perfect. I was by myself - in town on business - and enjoyed the chowder and a salmon BLT -- both were delicious, and my server was the nicest lady ever. I would recommend this place to anyone. There were other single diners in there, as well as a business lunch just next to me. Thanks so much Grillfish - your lunch experience was FABULOUS!"

  • "Grillfish used to be fun, bar filled, lots of people with great food and service. It is none of those things any more. The waitress was okay until I had to go look for her to get my bill, the fish was cold in the middle and portions were sad looking, I won't go back."

  • "Bob was our server and he was very knowledgeable and efficient. I had the portobello mushroom app, the seafood fra diavolo which had plenty of seafood and was spicy. I ended with the key lime pie. The food had lots of flavor and tasted great."

  • "I always enjoy the service and ambiance at Grillfish. Our 3-party table ordered from the Restaurant Month (--not Week!) menu; monkfish, seafood grills, ginger and regular calamari, mahi mahi, grilled veggies, spaghetti squash, a banana split, mango key lime cheesecake, and a bottle of vine. Everything was perfect."
