The Grille at Morrison House has two rooms for dining - The Grille and the Dining Room. The Grille features piano music Thursday through Saturday. The Dining Room offers a more intimate and quiet setting. Please indicate which room you prefer when making your reservation. All efforts will be made to honor these requests, but unfortunately, we cannot guarantee the exact table of your choice.

The culinary arts are alive at the Morrison House, and The Grille's 'More than Bistro' concept is the centerpiece. Great tasting food, flawless service, and an atmosphere that is elegant but never pretentious combine for a memorable evening. You will feel equally comfortable in a suit or jeans.   • "Similar to old world European pub houses, 2 small dining rms, bar anchors one end and fireplace on the other. The dining is upscale and menu is gourmet American with a French flair. We ordered from the Restaurant Week menu and added the wine pairing for $20, which was a bargain considering it included dessert wine. Especially enjoyed the steak tartar appetizer and the crispy skin salmon entree, also had the amish chicken entree, which was beautifully deconstructed so you didn't have to wrestle with chicken in a fancy restaurant. I took the profiteroles for dessert, which was presented as a trio, each with a different flavored gelato inside. Staff were very attentive, almost a little too much, understandable with a small room to operate."

  • "In our most recent trip of many, the food and service were outstanding. The filet (med well) was done to perfection and extremely tender. The Scottish salmon (med rare) was moist, flakey and totally a delight to the taste. We did learn on this visit that we prefer the pomme frites (the best I've ever tasted) to the garlic fries (not that they're bad, just a personal preference). The escargot Wellington is truly superb. The deserts are a perfect ending to a wonderful meal. The bar service was a little slow, but the drinks were worth the wait, generous and well made."

  • "We celebrated a friends birthday and could not have selected a better place. The staff was absolutely outstanding and the menu, though limited, was outstanding on all counts. We were particularly impressed by the very succulent "Lazy man's Lobster". The classic martinis and Manhattans were perfect in every way. The desserts were to die for and the Port flights and coffee were the perfect ending to our celebration. Our bartender and waiter were the real stars. They made this a very special evening."

  • "The food was delicious, however the service was mediocre. Our wine took an incredibly long time to arrive. The length of time between finishing our appetizers and receiving our main entrees was extremely long. The couple next to us arrived well after we did, and were mostly finished with their main entrees by the time we received ours. I ordered the filet mignon, rare. I received a medium (closer to medium well) done steak. By the time the new correctly cooked steak arrived, the rest of my party was finished eating their entrees. We even had to ask for water refills. On a positive note, when the food was cooked correctly, it was excellent. Would I recommend? Yes, but if only you don't care about the service."

  • "We went for dinner on a Sunday (a group of six). The dining space is small but noise level is manageable. The menu is straightforward and small which hints at quality in the kitchen. Indeed, the steaks were juicy while the salads fresh and generous. The wine list is long and features lots of mid-priced vintages. They run 50% off on Sunday on most wines. Highly recommended for those who value high quality at a moderate price in a secluded setting."

  • "We unknowingly stumbled onto the last night of the open mic venue in the bar grille. It was amazing entertainment from a community of pro and semi- pro singers, accompanied by an expert pianist. It was enchanting. The service and food - not so much. No reason to go back now that it was ended."

  • "Having been to the Morrison House before, I was expecting to indulge my appetite for some of its fine cuisine -- not a burger. However, after starting off w/ a perfect endive & chicory salad, I'm so glad that I decided to try their burger offering which reminded me of what a burger can be. The red onion marmalade is to die for. My hubby had a Carbanara Pappardelle with fresh peas and asparagus that he loved. It's a bar grill in Old Town but the addition of the pianist about 7 p.m. made it truly an uptown experience."

  • "We hadn't been to the Morrison House for about 6 years and we were very disappointed. The menu was uninviting, the service nothing special, and the overall ambiance bland. There was very little to select from the menu for appetizers and main course. Although the food (salmon and red snapper) was good there wasn't much to go with it. We will not be going back."

The only downside was that we were expecting a piano bar with music being played. After 9:00 it turned into some sort of karaoke. We were a little puzzled and thrown off by this.   • "It's near the end of May and winter vegetables along with other cold-weather fare are still on the menu. The scallops I ordered were burnt and the papperadelle my wife ordered was lukewarm when delivered to our table. In addition, the papperdelle were rolled into 1-inch-thick tasteless blobs with very little sauce on top. While the restaurant manager did replace the dishes that were originally served and did not charge us for the entrees, it did not make up for a ruined evening of overpriced food that was not very good. "

  • ".. our waiter does not speak English well enough to answer our questions. His service is spotty, and disorganized Our water glasses are never refilled.Third issue is the misrepresentation of menu items. Eggs Hussarde is billed as poached eggs over crispy russet potatoes, with hollandaise, a Marchands de vin and house made linguica. Imagine my surprise when the dishes come to our table and I see two poached eggs "resting" inside whole potato skin halves that have been thrown into a deep fryer, no Marchands de vin sauce, and burnt sausage! Finally, it is Mother's Day. I repeat MOTHER'S Day. Management, please instruct the waitstaff that women at the table who are obviously the celebrants of the day, should always be served FIRST, not last."

  • "My husband and son treated me to a wonderful Mother's Day Brunch at Morrison House's Dining Room. I had a delicious gazpacho for my appetizer--probably the best I have ever eaten. It was creamy with a lump of crab meat and some crushed bacon that was caramelized with pepper and brown sugar--yum. I also enjoyed my huckleberry pancakes (very light like crepes) and peppered bacon. The restaurant is located in a fantastic building that has been restored in true colonial style. I would highly recommend this place for a special occasion brunch."

  • "Service was too long. For a five course dinner, it took almost 3 hours. We had a free night not only to eat but to enjoy the town. We missed the later. The food was good but both of us got stomach problem. I think it was due to the milk from the coffee. "

  • "My wife and I have dined at the Grille twice before and were looking forward to a return visit since we've moved out of the area. While we were surprised to find ourselves in the midst of the senior citizen karaoke night (with no option to sit in the other dining room), it turned out to be fun. Especially when "everyone's favorite octogenarian Uncle Louie" got up to sign. What was less entertaining was the slow and shoddy service. Bread arrived without butter. Appetizers were finished and we had to wait for dinner. Our wine selection wasn't available and the sommelier's replacement recommendation was sub-standard. On the whole, we'd try the Grille again but perhaps only to make sure our visit wasn't an anomaly. "

  • "We had a nice dinner at Morrison House. The food was very good, but the ambiance was lacking. The lights were so bright, it made the dining room seem sterile and more like a nursing home restaurant! It could be really romantic if the lights were dim. The service was not that great either. We waited forever for a drink and the waiter just seemed really disorganized. The piano player was excellent though. It was an interesting experience that could have been so much better. Not sure that we'll go back. "

  • "A large group of us went to The Grille at Morrison House to celebrate a birthday. We chose to go to the brunch, mainly because of the duck carving station and we were not disappointed; the duck is phenominal and the accompanying reduction is rich and delicious. There is also a made-to-order crepe station that offers both savory and sweet options; the kids really enjoyed the Nutella and banana crepes! This brunch includes select dishes, which are all of high quality with everything made in house, including the petit fours. The staff was very accomodating and the sous chef serving the duck went out of his way to describe every item on the brunch menu. His enthusiasm for the food he serves is infectious."

  • "Morrison House is off the beaten path, and the Grille is hidden away within the hotel's first floor. It's not a cohesive restaurant, but two small, separated dining rooms - one with a bar & piano. I was in the other room, which was small, intimate, and incredibly quiet - expect to whisper during your meal. The salmon entree was absolutely delicious. The rib-eye with Yorkshire pudding was tasty but the table decided that our family recipe for Yorkshire is much better. I have a dairy allergy and the chef made dairy-free recommendations, but then the servers mixed up what was brought out and weren't sure which side was the dairy-free one - not exactly comforting. I was fine, but it wasn't what I expected at a restaurant of this caliber."

  • "I came here Sunday morning with 2 of my girlfriends and we enjoyed sipping on a variety of Belinis at the bottomless bar (no pun intended), the friendly staff and delicious buffet options. I know, I know, I know.. when you say buffet you ask yourself, "Really? Buffet at the Morrison House?". Yes!! Not just any buffet, they have a sweet and savory Crepe station and a duck carving station that exceeds expectations. The Sous Chef Johnny joyfully describes the duck as he prepares it right in front of you! Meanwhile the kitchen is working on your eggs cooked your way (even benedict). Patrick, the manager, came by and ensured we were enjoying our Brunch, very professional. We will be back for sure for another elegant buffet brunch :)"

  • "Excellent food using very fresh ingredients. We went there this morning and the roasted duck was sensational. The size and quality of the buffet was wonderful. They also had buckwheat crepes with several fillings. My wife and daughter devoured their crepes with nutella and bananas and I saw they did some with prosciutto or smoked salmon. To say nothing of the services, which was superior. Great spot overall."

The bartender neeeds a little help, glassware was spotted and looked dirty, he looked a little offended when I said something, but I am thinking if I am paying $12-$15/glass for something I would like it in a clean glass. Overall the place is very charming and look forward to hosting my wedding reception there!"

  • "We just happened to find a reservation for the Grille (thanks to open table) and we were treated to lovely evening. From the Valet who took care of our car , the hostess who sweetly seated us. all the attentive waiters, a chat from the manager, the chef's amuse, the wonderful main courses ( salmon and filet mignon) and the delightful shared chocolate tart. Wow, not sure what we were expecting, but this really impressed us! Old world manners and service combined with delish farm to table food. What more could you ask for?"
