Unfortunately this time we were a bit disappointed in our food. Two people ordered two different types of steak with different requests on how they wanted it prepared. The doneness of the steaks were reversed. Naturally they were very apologetic and rectified the orders as quickly as possible. It might have been an off-night for the kitchen as we have enjoyed our dinners before on many occasions.

3rd time eating from the revamped menu - Love love love it all! I also adore their mushroom soup, which was a little off this visit (not the usual consistency), but everything else was fantastic (Filet, NY Reuben, Grilled Wedge, coffee cake, bread pudding). I enjoy 1/2 price wine night, but wish they had all the bottles in stock that they list on their menu. I have been trying to order the same bottle for a few weeks, and it's always out of stock. Server was great, and the manager came to make sure we enjoyed our meal. I always know I'm going to get treated well and leave full and happy after eating at Hartefeld!

I love the atmosphere feel of this place. The fire places make it have that homestyle feel and smell to it. I definitely would return to try more of the entrees and appetizers on their new menu. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable and the list was extensive. Overall, food was great, definitely would come back and recommend.

It was our first visit and the setting is very nice and the service was great, including the friendliness of the people working the brunch buffet stations. The quality of the food was inconsistent with a very good eggs benedict and great waffle while the scrambled eggs tasted like powdered eggs and the link susuage was cold and tough. I guess a buffet setup does not offer the best food quality or temperature. I would try it again ordering from the menu.

We have eaten in Hartefeld several times in the past. The food and service has always been very good. After hearing great things about their Sunday Brunch, we made a reservation prior to the football playoffs last Sunday. We found that the brunch, which is advertised on their website from 10am-4pm actually ends at 2pm. Upon our 1pm arrival, we found that most of the breakfast items on the buffet were running low, or totally gone. We were, however, offered eggs benedict or omelets made to order, which were promptly delivered by our server. The salads, appetizers and dinner entrees on the buffet were in better supply and quite good, as was roast beef at the carving station. Desserts were excellent. Our server could have been more attentive.

Our 2nd time here.Had been a couple years since our last visit. We arrived on time & checked in but they cancelled our reservation 1 hr after we left. Luckily OpenTable fixed the issue.Called the restaurant & left a voice mail.No one ever called me back. We went on NY's Eve.They had a special menu not their norm. I wanted crab cakes but was told I could only order off the menu for that night so I had the chicken wellington & on recommendation of the server crab bisque. Bisque was bland with no lump crab & barely any strings of crab. The other diner's food was just ok. Service was bad until I was able to track down a manager. He gave me mush soup to try, very good. Server then improved service. For the prices I expected more. It was just ok.

We live approx. 1 mile from this restaurant. It has been 5+ years since our last visit because it went downhill approx. 5 years ago. We decided to give it another shot. Wines by the glass were very run of the mill and overpriced. Potstickers were not homemade; clearly frozen, then probably microwaved. I had the stuffed chicken breast special with cranberry sauce. This was reminiscent of the Swanson frozen dinners of my childhood. Cranberry sauce was not homemade; the potatoes were instant, the chicken breast was clearly microwaved and extremely dry. And the bill was about $100+ with tip! This restaurant needs a serious upgrade, particularly since there are so many wonderful restaurants in Southern Chester County.

Went to Hartefeld after: - not being there for some time, and - it has changed hands a number of times Past experience was that the Sunday buffet brunches were quite good but other meals were no better than average. This visit was a welcome surprise; the food was very good; the service was excellent. Prices were very reasonable, with entrees offered in a small or full-size portions. The sides with the entrees were significantly above average. The restaurant was quiet and nicely appointed, looking like an up-scale country club, which of course is what it is. The only thing that marred the experience was that, when we got home, there was email saying Hartefeld had canceled our Open Table reservation. Open Table corrected that for u

The Grille & Pub at Hartefeld National offers more than what one would expect of a golf club restaurant. We are neither club members nor golfers, but we have dined many times at this wonderful restaurant in an idyllic setting and have enjoyed every meal. At our most recent visit we were delighted by their special of the day ... lasagna, which is not typical of golf club restaurants. We had our dinner at lunch and for good measure included dessert.

The food was reasonably good for brunch, but not spectacular. . .our one main complaint was that the "brunch", which was still advertised on the website had actually been converted into a "breakfast bar" for the summer. . .which would have probably influenced our decision to go there. The service was not particularly good, but the atmosphere is nice, and the real brunch, which returns in fall, is much better.

Not sure if Hartefeld has changed owners but this experience was horrible. It was my husband's birthday and we thought since we were going to dinner with the kids it would be great to take them somewhere kid friendly with "Regy" but it was worse than our last experience there. The last time we were there we went for a crab feast and the crabs were completely overcooked and falling apart. Everyone was angry and they had to give our money back. This time we went to dinner at 630 and they had run out of the dish that I wanted as well as another dish on the menu. My husband asked for a manager and she came to the table and said they weren't out of that dish. I was confused.

They said they would bring another setting and menu. 10 minutes later I went up and asked for a menu but never received one. Took 30 minutes to get our order in. At 9:10 they apologized and brought us out some bread. Seriously bread, after 100 minutes? The dinner finally came and but the forgot the vegetables that were part of my dinner. I questioned it and she said she didn't think it was part of the meal. I asked another waiter (in training) and he had enough sense to check the menu. After I was done the veggies show up. The bill was $200 with 2 glasses of wine. It was over priced, under serviced and nobody cared if they got it right.

When asked if the calamari was fresh or frozen, she thought for a few seconds, then told us that it was frozen fresh. The fried chicken was soggy and had no redeeming good taste. It even tasted funny enough that we felt something was suspect. Although they graciously offered to comp that meal, I wasn't impressed overall.
