Grille 700 at the Baltimore Marriott WaterfrontGreat service, mostly good food.My wife and I went here for our 11th wedding anniversary. The service was fantastic, very attentive. The clam chowder was amazing, highly recommended. I had the special swordfish- really great. My wife had the special fried softshell crab, which was not so good. Overly seasoned (too salty) and a slight fishy taste. She really should have sent it back, but we're both bad about sending back food. For dessert, I had the Cheesecake, which was delicious, and my wife had vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce, which wasn't on the menu but they made it for her because it was our anniversary. So all in all, it's a great restaurant. I was promptly seated and attended to. The food was not only excellent, but it came in a timely manner. I will recommend the grille to all my family and friends. I can't wait to return. I must add the service was impeccable. We had the ribeye and scallop chef special. The prices were very reasonable for the location and amount of food. Our table overlooked the water so was a beautiful view as well. Two of us split the calamari appetizer (large portions, excellent flavor profile); squash, peanut, and arugula salad (simple and delicious flavors, great mix of textures); smoked pork flat bread (large and packed full of flavor); & the halibut entree with saffron clam sauce and cauliflower risotto (the halibut was cooked perfectly, the saffron sauce was a bit too salty even for this salt lover). We could not finish this huge meal, though we tried. We complemented this with a flight of 4 wines, all excellent recommendations from Greg, our waiter. The service was attentive, communicative, helpful, & even entertaining. The whole staff really worked as a team to make our dinner delightful.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMPricey. Weird environmentPricey. Weird environment - it was a super classy restaurant but there were plenty of people super dressed down - eating with their families.
My boyfriend and I each got the steak, which was fabulous. Still - cooked medium instead of medium rare. The bread had some sweet honey butter which was delicious, and the calamari also rocked. The waiters were weird at times - one spilled water and made a huge production of covering it. It would've been fine if he had given us some space.
Also, even though there were tons of seats open, the staff kept putting more people next to my boyfriend and I. The space is very open, and super quiet, so it was hard to have a private conversation with people so close to us. My wife ordered a banana and a cup of yogurt - she was not given a bowl to put it in. I ordered an omelette and toast. The toast came out after i ate nearly half the omelette. I had to ask for a second cup of coffee, with my empty cup sitting on the table.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful EasterWe had a wonderful Easter Brunch here yesterday. Everyone in my party was impressed with the selections. The only downside was that there was no fruit on the buffet. In the past, the Marriott has had bountiful displays of fresh berries. Yesterday, the only berries were strawberries in the mimosas, or some berries that were in the cheese wheels (which then had the chesse all over them). Service was outstanding, and we never wanted for a drink, or a refill. All-in-all, it was great!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThere was an initial problemThere was an initial problem with my Open Table reservation, as there was no indication regarding time of the special Easter brunch. My reservation was for 10:45. The restaurant called to confirm, and asked if I had wanted the brunch. They informed me that the brunch didn't start until noon, and they had no available reservations. They took my number, and called back within 10 minutes, as the manager accommodated us for a noon seating. We had a lovely brunch, and our only regret was that we couldn't manage to taste everything, due to so many wonderful offerings! There was a nice variety of foods - and not all your ordinary buffet choices. We made it a point to each try something we'd never had before. The attention to every detail was wonderful.Our server was very attentive. We had a great view at the window overlooking the Inner Harbor.
