Diner Reviews
  • "With the remodel. 401 always had a nice bar scene, this is the one of the better finds on Las Olas. Good food and an even better bar staff. This is one of our favs to bring out of town guests."

  • "Seated at 7:30. Salads came at around 8:00. One salad had two bugs in it. Spoke to manager who apologized. Asked for extra dressing for caesar salad and never got. Asked where dinner was at 9:00. Manager apologized. Dinner came after 9. 1 Prime Rib was veiny, stringy and tough. Manager apologized. Comped one salad and one prime rib. Said we would get free desserts. Bill came before any desserts. Desserts never came. We have been here numerous times and the last two times were not very happy. We brought new people here this time and they would never return. We feel we should have had more than just one meal and salad comped as the manager came over and felt the need to apologize three times during the course of one meal."

  • "Everything about this restaurant is awesome! Our server, Vincent, was very good and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was superb. The atmosphere is beautiful and the tables not on top of each other."

  • "The food is good as always and the new out bar and live music is awesome. They appear to be having some growing pains as service was lackluster and not up to par although the hostess worked to make it right."

  • "This place was not on my radar for several months when they first opened. It seemed quiet and in a non-descript location. But that has all changed. With the addition of an indoor/outdoor bar and outdoor seating, this place is ALIVE. The night we went they featured live music (a bit loud for a restaurant of this quality) and the bar was packed. I have never been disappointed by the food. It is the only place I will order prime rib - outstanding. We have always had excellent service - this time was no different - even with a relatively new server. The interior is gorgeous. I kind of miss the "quiet" dinners we used to have, but Las Olas is changing and they are keeping up with the demand."

  • "Had dinner here with friends, first time on Las Olas Blvd and we wanted to grab dinner and drinks. The ambiance and energy drew us in. Great food and service. Perfect for date night or socializing."

  • "We enjoyed the energetic new bar scene. The food was good but not outstanding. The service was excellent. We may go back, they failed to tell us about the happy hour and that if we dined outside we would get half off drinks and appetizers. It would have been nice if someone told us about that then we could have made that decision for ourselves. Sushi was just good. Tuna burger was good but the fries were inedible they had so much seasoning on them, way too salty. I'm not sure if we will give them another chance."

  • "This location has been both unlucky and notorious for numerous predecessors but may have found the right one this time. This is a smart but semi casual restaurant with great casual food, hamburgers are outstanding, and also some good entrees such as the salmon. Do not forget the soups and deserts that are also excellent. it is a great place to meet people for both lunch and dinner. The restaurant has two levels, the upper level being a little quieter, and it has just opened an outdoor patio and bar. I have found the service to be excellent with just the right amount of attention.Definitely the nearest thing to Houstons in Fort Lauderdale and better food."

  • "Grille 401 has really made some big changes - adding a sushi and sake bar and a new indoor/outdoor bar and patio deck. Looks like they are the in-place to be on Las Olas Blvd. Plus, food is terrific especially the forbidden lobster roll!"

  • "One of the most pleasant Las Olas dineries. Good atmosphere, good food, pleasant wait staff"

  • "Came on the recommendation of a friend. This is the best find in a long time. From the initial greeting to the final "thanks for coming" every element was outstanding, especially the service. Our server was training someone new. Than can often be an annoying distraction. Not so in this case. His attention to our table was outstanding. And, by the way, the food and wine were excellent. We all had the same thing, the tuna burger...best one I have had in years. Family is coming to visit next month and we will definitely go back."

  • "We enjoyed all our meals...the steak and ribs were outstanding as was the salmon dishes....we would return. However, found the music very loud, needs to be turned down a notch."

  • "Disappointed. Took over 15 minutes for server to come to table. Once there she was very accommodating. Food served with no utensils. Food runner took off and had to wait to get server attention while food got cold. Overall, establishment lacks professional training. Very loud music not conducive to relaxing dining. Food ok but not worth the $$$."

  • "I didn't realize the restaurant opened right at 5pm and was a bit nervous because we had to get to a 6:30 show at the Broward Center. Not a problem because the staff was spot on once we sat down. I had been once before and was impressed with the food then and was not disappointed the second time around. The scallops were absolutely perfect. The prime rib - altho not my cup of tea - i was told was delicious as well. We started by sharing the beet and goat cheese salad. Yummmmmm. Definitely visit this restaurant. It's a winner! And the hostess even gave great directions - it really burns me when you ask for local directions and the person working there has no clue about the area around them..so double thank you for a savvy hostess."

  • "Everytime I dine here , it's amazing!! I'm never disappointing. I'm very close minded with food however, I seem to find myself trying foods I wouldn't usually try and I'm actually loving it. Simply amazing and the staff are very respectful."

  • "After having wonderful fresh seafood for our first 6 days of vacation it was time for a steak. I ordered the filet and it was perfectly cooked and tender. Instead of the baked potato I asked for the Parmesan potatoes. They were interesting. Gooey like a soufflé which our server said. If they would have baked them a little longer and had a crispy top they would have been better. Bonus , it was half priced bottle of wine night which always makes everything better. Overall: nice spot for a nice dinner. Bottle of wine. One speciality cocktail One appetizer. Two entrees. $150 including tip."

  • "First time... Hostess at desk was great, smiled and had us seated immediately. Our server, Lindsay, was prompt and very nice but seemed either shy or not knowledgable about food and wine yet. The crab fritters, ahi tuna salad, and the crab cakes (substituting the remoulade for the lobster-ginger sauce was incredible) were all served perfectly - great temperature and amazing, popping flavors. Had my second crab cake the next day and it was still delicious - Food knocked it out of the park. JR was great - delivered with a smile and chatted for a second, I constantly saw him observing nearby tables and keeping them clean - I hope he is also a server because he would be wonderful. Manager on duty was also very helpful and attentive!"

  • "My husband and I went for Valentine's day and although the food was good, there was so much confusion. Servers didnt know which tables had what. We asked for bread (which their supposed to offer you) and it never arrived. They also didn't mention the "V-day menu" we had to ask about it. Apart from that it was a nice evening. I will return but not for a while!"

  • "We were at the restaurant for Valentine's Day. The restaurant was fully booked for the whole night. I was suprised at the quality of the food. If there is one complaint is that the food came out too quickly especially surprising since the restaurant was full. The appetizers arrived before we could sip our cocktails and the main course arrived before we finished the appetizers. Tuna Tartare, Ceaser Salad and Prime Rib were all excelent. Price was moderate."

  • "We had high expectations for Grille 401 after tasting one of their burgers in the annual Riverwalk Burger Bash. I ordered the pork chop and my girlfriend ordered the skirt staek. We also had the spicy tuna sushi as an appetizer. The sushi plate came with no wasbi and we had to ask for soy sauce. There's was no bread offered which my girlfriend loves and the plates were very small. At lesser upscale joints the pork chops are a lot thicker and this was more like a thin cut chop. The only side served with each dish was garlic parmesan potatoes. The potatoes had a good flavor and the pork chops had a nice port wine gravy sauce but the skirt steak barley had any flavor."

  • "AMAZING. The steak was juicy, the crab cakes were perfect, the fritters were delicious, and the complimentary champagne was a nice touch. We will be back very soon!"

  • "When we arrived at the hostess desk, the lead hostess seemed overwhelmed but greeted us calmly. Since our table was not ready the hostess told us that our table will be ready as soon as possible (did not hand us a pager so that she could find us), we went to the crowded bar and were greeted rather fast for the amount of people sitting at the bar. Once we finished our drinks, at which point our reservation time has passed, we approached the hostess stand and got the blank stare: your name is?? Once again, we were told as soon as possible we would be seated. Long story short, the hostesses were beyond frazzled, the food was ok, and the music was blasting (speakers above almost every table)."

  • "My wife and I tried Grille 401 for the first time on Valentine's Day -- one of the busiest evenings of the year. Ran into traffic and got to the restaurant about 15 minutes late. No problem. They took us right to our table with no delay. Our wait person (I think his name was John) was friendly, very knowledgeable and fun to talk to, not some robo-server. The salad was tasty and generous for a side salad. Our crab cakes were good but the BBQ shrimp were outstanding. We ordered a retro dessert: hot fudge sundae. The fudge was great, not the tasteless goo some places serve. Every member of the staff was helpful and enthusiastic on a very busy night. A little noisy but maybe it's better on a week night. We give that a try."

  • "A very lively "scene" around the bar. Seated near the kitchen which was very noisy, so I'd request a booth next time. Food Fantastic! My filet was amazing and cooked to order. Beet salad was a home run as well. And the complimentary champagne and chocolate covered strawberries for Valentines Day was a real bonus! Highly recommended!"

  • "Busy , happening and just a place to be seen and have a good evening. Food was very good but the overall experience is the reason for this place. Atmosphere and service with a touch of a good variety to eat is what I liked about 401. Not pricey at all unless you all eat the 42.00 rib eye. If you like sushi rolls, as we had as an appetizer, they will delight your pallet. The pork chops and the ribs were our choices for the main and were just perfect for us tonight. All in all I would go back when we want to relax and have a little comfort food and be a lot more casual than a Capital Grille, ( our # 1 choice to go ). Grille 401 on Las Olas is a happening ."

  • "My husband and I dined here for his Birthday and it was great. The food was incredible!! I had the scallops and my husband had the Hawaiian steak and both were delicious. We finished it off with the white chocolate bread pudding which was amazing. We will definitely go back. The waitress had a great personality and was very informative on menu items we asked about. They had a DJ playing and the restaurant was beautiful. We sat upstairs and had a great view of the place along with Las Olas."
