  • "From start to finish, the experience was great. We made our reservations through Open Table and were directly seated upon our arrival. We asked for a different table at our seating and were promptly placed at a great window/corner table with a smile. From our seating through our dinner, the service was wonderful and attentive. And the food was perfectly done. All of us are steak eaters and ours were done perfectly. We're requested them Pittsburg and medium rare and they came out with a great char and tender. My aged Brandt Farm NY strip was one of the best I've ever had. And order the bread pudding for dessert!! Being a former Food & Beverage manager, I would definetly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Overall, very good restaurant, but I was disappointed in my steak. It was overcooked, which is a cardinal sin in a chophouse, especially one as famous and esteemed as this. I suspect bone-in cuts are a bit tricky to cook, but still....Sides were amazing (try the hash browns and grilled vegetables) and the service was excellent. I was surprised at how loud it was, bring ear plugs or prepare to be as boisterous as the rest. I should also note they were very accommodating of my request for a table with a view, as I was celebrating with my wife."

  • "We had waited far too long to dine at Grill 23. We can't wait to get back. Everything about the experience was First Class. It's what they used to call a "classy joint". The night we were there was fairly low-key and it felt like a private club. The service was exceptional. "

  • "Great, upscale restaurant for a special (non-romanitc) occasion. (I say non-romantic as the atmosphere is more energetic than romantic.) We took our daughter for her 21st birthday dinner - quite the treat for a college student! Unique cocktails, amazing steaks, and fine wine made for a perfect and memorable celebration. Our waiter (Matt) was excellent."

  • "Arrived 10 minutes early for a 5:30 reservation and was told computers were down. I was told to sit in bar and have a drink, 35 minutes later I approached the hostess station to inquire as to when we would be sat and was told computers were still down and it could be 5 minutes or an hour. I am sorry I find this answer unacceptable especially when there is an empty dining room. I asked for the bar check and was handed a piece of paper with the total written in pen by the waiter, now is that so hard, no. While paying the bar bill I called the Palm restaurant and was told I would be promptly sat we went there and had a great meal and service. My terrible experience cost me $20 for the valet and another $20 for the 2 drinks at Grill 0."

  • "Went here for a birthday celebration. Dining atmosphere was nice. Seated at the table promptly base don reservation. Server was good, though could have stopped by more frequently. Food was just ok. Appetizer (Calamari) was weak when compared to other similar establishments. Cooked fine and all, just a bad mix of whatever on our plate. Salads were weak also - Caesar didn't even taste like one; no chees, low on dressing, etc. Our steaks were cooked perfectly, albeit they did not seem like the size as requested. All in, a nice atmosphere and ok place to eat."

  • "I have to admit, I could not find a thing wrong with my evening. I arrived earlier than my reservation - no problem. I needed to eat slowly (burn time while waiting for a late show at the Wilbur to begin)- no problem. They catered to every level of my "diva" needs, and with a smile. The 100 day aged steak was divine, cooked perfectly(rare). Great wine selection. Our server, Mark, never rushed us and when I asked if we could move to the bar he reserved one of the better tables in that area for us. I was impressed from beginning to end. Not to mention, the desserts were "to die for".... Words fail me in trying to describe how every ingredient used was "home made"."

  • "In town for business and took my son and some college roommates. Menu selection was varied, nice mix of meats and seafood, but we came for steak and boy, were we glad. From the Filet Mignon to the NY Strip and Ribeye's, this group devoured every bite of their mouthwatering steaks and side dishes (cream spinach, fries and mac n cheese were outstanding) as they noticed business men doing the same at nearby tables. Almost forgot to mention the Oysters, Fried Calamari and Tuna Tartare starters - delicious! I'm guessing Grill 23 will be seeing these future deal makers for years to come. Great steakhouse for groups of friends, families or business titans."

  • "Had a wonderful dinner at Grill 23 last Friday night. The tenderloin with the polenta and rage was cooked perfectly. We enjoyed two sides: the mushrooms and the cauliflower. Both perfect for our dishes. We ended the meal with the chocolate cake and cappuccinos. The place was very lively and filled. My friend from California loved the restaurant as well! Will go back again."

  • "Once again Grill 23 comes across with flying colors - delivering on all areas of food, service and wine. Candice hosted our table and she (as she is behind the bar) truly spectacular. It was a special event as i had family fly in for the week. They were overwhelmed. The prime rib was marblized and cooked to perfection and the wine created a marriage made in heaven. Thanks!"

  • "My husband and I went to the restaurant on a Sunday night, hoping for a smaller crowd. We were taken care of by several waitstaff, and there was always someone to cater to our every need at the right moment. The service is unmatched anywhere in Boston. The food was outstanding--taste, preparation, temperature, presentation. The view from the huge windows outside to the Back Bay neighborhood is one of the other wonderful features of Grill 23 & Bar. There's everything to like here! Even the hostess was exceptionally hospitable!"

  • "We went for a great steak and were not disappointed. Fortunately we were seated on the second floor. The first and lower floors were extremely noisy and everyone seemed to have to speak very loudly in order to be heard by their table companions. We would return for the steak dinner only. The desserts we had were nothing to rave about the warm bread pudding and chocolate cake."

  • "I was disappointed in Grille 23. First of all, it was so incredibly noisy my husband and I couldn't carry on a conversation, and this was 9PM. The waiter took a long time to acknowledge us, but once he engaged he was friendly and efficient. My meal was: green salad (good, nothing unique), chicken (dry, plain, and boring with risotto that was really just rice and onions), and a side of mac and cheese that was divine. My husband got: seafood chowder (great), tuna (too much pepper and not very good), and beat salad (good). Things improved with dessert. The coconut cake was positively divine, and the flourless chocolate cake was nice. Bottom line: take the money you would spend at Grille 23 to another restaurant for a much better meal."

  • "We always stay in the Back Bay when in Boston and this is our go-to restaurant. Everything is delicious—we love the dry aged steak and sides, especially the hash browns in duck fat. Love the service—very professional and efficient. We think the crew who changes over a table is like a race track pit crew—they are so fast, it is real theater. Most of the restaurant is lively and a little loud—which is fun. This past time we were seated upstairs in the back which was pleasantly quiet. If we go with a group or people who are hearing impaired we will request this location in the future."

  • "Dined at Grill 23 on Friday night. Reservation at 6:30 and we seated in dining room Siberia on 2nd floor. The "overflow room" felt a bit like the place you would seat unwanted relatives at a wedding reception. Our server was attentive, helpful and pleasant, but the overall experience was not top notch. The food was only okay - steaks completely adequate, but not exceptional in any way and hash browns virtually inedible. Sautéed mushrooms were fine and dessert was tasty. Over all, nothing truly objectionable, but nothing that merits a return."

  • "Came here to celebrate my cousins birthday. Group arrived a little late but the staff was patient and proffesional. Started off with calamari and being a New Englander I know good Calamari when i taste it .... it was fantastic. It had the perfect calamari to pepperoncini cream ratio. Before I go on I would like to add the appetizers and sides are huge. Try the mac and cheese, you will not be dissapointed. The waiter was attentive and gave us great suggestions to which steak to look for and made sure it was cooked to order. I got the bone in rib-eye which literally melted in my mouth. It was cooked to order and the seasoning was superb. Food and ambience makes the experience worth it. 5/5."

  • "The restaurant was in a hurry, we weren't. Food was good, but the meat was generally undercooked for all of us. There was nothing that we could say to the waiter to get him to give us a few minutes. I had not finished my salad and the main course was already coming out. One of the few times that I have been to a restaurant of this status and felt rushed out the door. My family will not be back."

  • "When going to a restaurant to the caliber of a Grill23, you have a certain expectation. Let me tell you they served up to and exceeded my expectation. The waiter was incredibly knowledgeable. My fiancee (She said yes that night), described a particular flavor in a red wine she was looking for and he brought 3 choices to sample, explained the differences and they were amazing, Cru from 29 Vineyards. I had the 100 day aged beef and I was speechless at how perfectly cooked it was and how the flavor lived up to its hype and then some. Highly encourage you to partake in this great establishment."
