Diner Reviews
  • "Heard of this spot from a friend. Great atmosphere and the food was great. I can really recommend the little tapas dishes."

  • "We ordered the small plates to start, Brussels spouts, five minute egg, and steak, delicious and a great way to start the meal. I had the house made cavatelli with short ribs; rich and creamy with exceptional textures of crunchy bits and cheesy smoothness. The branzino is absolutely amazing; crispy and flavorful skin and with a hint of coconut, light and perfect for Spring! Dessert was equally impressive in presentation and taste. We had a lovely time, and can't wait to return!"

  • "We recently tried this restaurant with no prior knowledge of the place and were pleasantly surprised. The ambiance is cute, the food was delicious and it was relatively laid back for a Saturday night. We will definitely go back."

  • "We were seated upstairs overlooking the street activity below. Complimentery champagne was served to toast our anniversary. Excellent food with just the right finish to both dishes. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for trendy without the hype."

  • "Very nice choice. Service really good and ambience is very special"

  • "Been here a few times and love it. Great addition to the neighborhood. WIth that being said the food this time took a little longer then normal, was salty and we had to send the pork chop back because it was undercooked. The waitress was fantastic and handled the hiccups professionally and I appreciated the manager checking in on us as well. There are few places like this one in Manhattan and I hope it's around for a long time."

  • "I would recommend sitting downstairs as the bar and most of the servers are downstairs. It took a VERY long time to get coffee and a cocktail at brunch, which might be attributed to the fact that the bar is downstairs. The food is good, so I would consider going back only if I sat downstairs as I think the service might be better there."

  • "Food was generally great, other than the deserts that seems like their weaker spot. Service was impeccable and the place is very trendy."

  • "Loved it. Food was amazing. Service was pleasant. The pork chop was the best I've had in a while."

  • "If your idea of fun is to be seated in the midst of a half dozen shrieking alcohol fueled bachelorette parties, this is your place. A shame, since the food is quite good and the service is pleasant. However, noise level is hands down the most excruciating ever encountered in New York."

  • "Lovely place to enjoy with friends and the food is very good also."

  • "Went there for a birthday dinner. My girl friends and I always love to share small plates. There were many and delicious ones to choose from. They had a great cocktail many, prosecco and we had a lovely evening! Great ambiance!"

  • "Whenever we read reviews that someone had "terrible" service we assume it is an isolated event and someone just had an off day, whether it was the server or the patron. So we ignored the numerous complaints about the service at Greenwich Project and went for Brunch. Unfortunately, this time, the reviewers are right. The service is horrible. In fact I looked around for Candid Camera cameras because I couldn't believe that the service could be so uniformly bad. There is no excuse for bad service in a restaurant. The right chef might be hard to find, the right menu may be hard to craft, but people looking for waitstaff jobs are plentiful and it is up to management to teach and if not succeed, replace the wait staff. Stay away."

  • "The Greenwich Project was extraordinary from start to finish. Decisive service, with nary an empty glass of water and not an instant too long a wait. Servers were friendly but not unctuous and, despite our being a moderate-sized party, there was confusion neither about dishes nor about the split bill. As a vegetarian, I was skeptical, but I needn't have been. The sweet potato soup and the Brussels sprouts were each transcendent, and the Roquefort was perfectly in its prime (though the pears of the pear salad weren't ripe yet--best to ask about this). My meat- and seafood-eating friends reported similar satisfaction. And, though we only had two courses, everyone left sincerely full. The bay leaf crème brûlée was the best I've ever had."

  • "loved it, 5 minute egg on the bar menu was amazing! have it every time and yes its perfection every time. cant wait to see whats happening for the spring menu and cocktails are on point."

  • "Food was fabulous and setting is beautiful. Service was painfully slow and we were trying to catch a show. Perhaps it was an off night but the kitchen needs to get the meals out more quickly, especially at 6pm when the crowd is still light."

  • "Dinner at Greenwich was perfect! The oysters are elegantly presented, fresh and delicious. The tuna tartare is generously portioned and just the right amount of spicy. The squid ink pasta with prawns is such a special dish; the flavors are entirely unique. The scallops melt in your mouth and the garnish is perfectly light to compliment the rich flavors. The branzino is moist and flavorful with a crispy and savory skin accompanied by the essence of coconut. For dessert the banana crème brulee, pleasantly light with creamy vanilla ice cream and decadent truffles to embellish the plate. The restaurant is beautiful. We had a wonderful experience from beginning to end. Thank you to the talented Chef Carmine Di Giovanni!"

  • "Great addition to 8th street. Hope they’re here for a really long time. Must have: tuna tartar, any of the pastas, branzino and pork chop."

  • "Been here a few times and the place just keeps getting better. Had the chicken this time which was so moist and crispy that the smell made my mouth water. My date had the branzini which she described as remarkable. As always service was outstanding."

  • "I feel bad that it has taken me so long to try this restaurant. Now that I have, I will most certainly be back. Besides that this restaurant is gorgeous with all the art and paintings the food and service were off the charts. So welcoming yet not intrusive. Try the brickhouse and east side cocktails, they’ll make your day better. And the cavetellie pasta, amazing."

  • "Came on valentines day and sat downstairs. Service was great and the room was busy and energetic. The only thing that wasn’t perfect was the steak, a little chewy and undercooked but after we told the server she brought us the pork chop which was excellent. Can’t wait to go back!"

  • "We wanted a new spot, and had a tough critic in tow. Reading the reviews, the Greenwich Project seemed like the perfect fit. As soon as we walked in we knew we had picked a winner. Nicely decorated, there was a coll ambience to the restaruant. The staff was amazingly attentive, and even entertained us while we discussed specials and our choices. The Sweet Potato soup is out of this world, and the cavatelli with braised short ribs was excellent. My wife and friend shared the Partridge special and the Seared Salmon special. Dessert was abosolutley the tops, our table shared the donuts and profiterols. We left feeling happy and look forward to going back!! And excellent choice for a romatic dinner or with a group of friends!!"

  • "I had such a great evening on Friday! My party of 6 had a great table, and the atmosphere was cozy without being cute. The service was top-notch and our waiter was kind, energetic, and so attentive, with a great sense of humor. It was perfectly packed without being scene-y. Solid place!"

  • "just fair - unmemorable and undistinguished. In the crowded competitive village food scene this place simply doesn't stand out. On our visit - the fIsh and salad were fine but the chicken was bland and the pasta was a mess. Service was friendly but needs a little polish. The place looks and feels great tho - nice to see this part of West 8th fancy up a bit."

  • "Went here for brunch with a friend, and immediately liked the brightness of the interiors. I ordered the eggs benedict, which was served on a biscuity sort of base, which I thoroughly enjoyed. My friend had the pork belly hash, which she liked but wasn't too crazy about. The portions were also on the smaller side, which meant that while the food was not bad, it was also not good enough (or not enough in general) to justify being charged $16 an entree. The waitstaff was half-asleep, taking their sweet time to come to the table, which I think is the biggest problem here. It's an interesting place if you're looking for a place to try in West Vill, but if you want value for your money, you may want to look elsewhere."

  • "My second time and just as good as the first. If you go early it's still quiet. Martini was excellent :) and pork chop was amazing. Really hard to cook a pork chop perfectly but they do it. I highly recommend."

  • "We were a party of six on a Saturday. We were greeted at the doorway and seated right away. Our waitress was upbeat and energetic. The restaurant has a good selection of wines by the glass and a number of craft beers on tap. Two members of our party inquired about the 3 course prix fixe dinner, which is on the restaurant's website, but not listed on our menus. The waitress advised that the prix fixe was not available and said something about it only being available for large parties. Suggestion: Then take it off the menu. We ordered the salmon tartar appetizer - which was excellent. I had the branzino (no salt as I had read that some of the entrees were oversalted), my husband the short rib cavatelli. Dinner and ambiance were good."

  • "Excellent brunch venue. Great menu choices and everyone was very happy with their selections. Great service - attentive but not intrusive. Cannot be more positive about this as a venue for brunch and I am sure dinner service is just as good - which I intend to test soon."

  • "Overall, good spot for dinner - a trendy atmosphere and the food was great. Only complaint was that I had called twice to request that my reservation be in upstairs dining room, both times I was assured it would be, only to arrive and have the hostess say there was no note by my reservation and no tables available upstairs. Bad way to start off the meal and annoying that the hostess accused me of lying / being wrong."

  • "beautiful space (we sat downstairs in the bar area, which is a little more casual - upstairs is a formal dining room, but the bar is stiill pretty sweet.) Service was friendly and attentive. Food was really good. At first glance, the menu seems limited. Standard American fare, fish, lamb, pasta etc. But each dish was seasoned perfectly and we really enjoyed everything. I think the winners for us were The lamb and the cavatelli."

  • "The food is good but most dishes are too salty. Our server was excellent but we were greater at the front door by a man in a suit that never looked up at us even after we stood there for a while. Finally another person came over to seat us. I expect at least a greeting by who ever is at the door without having to ask. We were the only ones at the door and it wasn't crowded."

  • "This place is a great find on 8th street. So warm and inviting. Topped off with delicious food and drinks. Service was on top of their game. Speaking of game, the game parfait was a very creative dish, with lots of flavor and texture."

  • "Ambience was great but portions were small for $$$... I went with a friend and we shared three small plates and an entree. Oh and of course we for dessert. A bit pricey but a nice romantic feel."

  • "It was very loud upstairs but the food was great as well as the service. There were several large groups upstairs and if I would have known that I would have asked to be seated downstairs. The sweet potato soup was very sweet, but so tasty!"
