I love Sat. night w/ wine parings. Now, even their deserts have caught up w/ high caliber of rest of meal - that was not always the case in the past - they must have changed the pastry chef."

  • "We've been going to Green's ever since it opened way back, was it in the 1970's? Over the years we have introduced every out of town guest and they all love it. It is a nice space, has a great view, servers are informative and polite, and the food is to-die-for. They have absolutely the best pizza in town, whatever kind it happens to be. We still remember the mushroom pizza from a lunch months ago. But all menu selections are superb and ingredients are the best. To top it off, it is not at all pretentious. We are made to feel welcome no matter how we are dressed. We go at least once a month, can't seem to stay away."

  • "Food is very good, although for the billing (and the bill) I expected to be blown away and I wasn't. For me, too many of the options were vegetarian as opposed to vegan. Making them vegan meant leaving out cheeses and buttery sauces that no doubt changed the taste considerably. Nice wine selection and some unique cocktails are an interesting start. The view is just about unbeatable - great weather helped. The waitstaff is attentive without being intrusive and there is plenty of space between tables for them and guests to move. Even while busy and active, the acoustics of the old warehouse make it easy to hear and be heard by your dinner companions."

  • "Stunning views, ambiance and service. The food is great but lacks a little sophistication in terms of amount of food and presentation. Starter Indian sampler is great flavor wyse, but with a little extra could be a main course. Red curry main is great but lacks presentation. Too much sauce and looks like a home cooked meal. Dessert (flourless chocolate cake) excellent overall. All in all very good experience with a few details that would make it excellent! Very good service."

  • "Food was absolutely amazing at Greens but we had quite a terrible experience with our waitress. All of us were vegetarian but we had a dietary restriction of no eggs in our food. Waitress (amanda/andrea?) was extremely unhelpful with our dietary restriction. Did not bother to check with the kitchen on what contained eggs and what did not, just told us that she "thinks" this food item does or does not. She did not check up on us the entire meal and we waited about 10 min for her to notice we were done with our meal and to come over with the dessert menu. Overall, food was amazing, but the quality of service we received makes it hard to say we will be back."

  • "We have been to Greens for special occasions over the years, and it has never disappointed either the vegetarians or the omnivores in our group. We asked for a window table on a busy night, celebrating our younger daughter's acceptance to college, and were given the next best thing -- a table one row from the window with a spectacular view of the sunset over the bay. Our waiter was welcoming and attentive, and brought us a complimentary taste of the soup unasked. We ordered a spring roll appetizer and salad to share, and all three of us had a wonderful composed vegetable dish with polenta and greens on the side. We also shared intensely flavored sorbets and flourless chocolate cake. All was sumptuous."

  • "This is my son's favorite restaurant so we almost always have brunch here for his birthday. On last visit was this past Saturday for his 33rd birthday. He loved it as always and did all of us in his party. Also he's celiac so he must have a gluten-free meal. Greens is always able to accommodate and in spades on Saturday with a flour less (i.e., gluten-free) cake birthday candle in place. Thanks to Green's for a great Saturday birthday brunch!"

  • "Not only is the food consistently marvelous, the management remains humane. I arrived with a guest I was taking to dinner for her birthday. There was no reservation and the restaurant was full. I begrudgingly searched my iPhone for the email that would establish I did indeed have a reservation only to find I had made it for the day before. The manager seated us at a side table with a congenial attitude regarding my mistake and acknowledgment of the special occasion. It was impressive and very welcome."

Chef and cookbook author, Annie Somerville, adds graciousness to the ambience by visiting with diners. She signed my "Field of Greens" cookbook, sparkling with the good health that suggests eating plants is a good model to follow. Our favorite place for dining in SF with gorgeous views of the bay and bridge, boats in them marina and sunsets over the Pacific to add frosting to the cake."

  • "From the moment we walked through the door we were totally impressed with this little gem of a restaurant. Housed in Fort Mason, it doesn't look much from the outside, but as you enter, it's like traveling to another world - clean, modern and totally zen. We were early for our reservation, so we sat at the bar and had a few pre-dinner drinks. Kyle, the bartender was so friendly and made us feel right at home as we waited. Our server had the most jovial and enjoyable accent. We dined on the prix fixe menu with the wine pairings and were not disappointed in the least. I am vegan and my sister is vegetarian and it's so hard to find a quality restaurant dedicated to veg fair. The food was unbelievable and I can't recommend it highly enough!"

It is a vegetarian restaurant but the flavor is so good that you would really never know that there is no meat involved. This time I had the Mexican squash soup and it was absolutely delicious. Definitely not a budget place, but good value for the money all the same. Service was efficient, unobtrusive. Decor works with the broader theme -- some tables made to look carved out of huge tree trunks -- and the view of the Golden Gate Bridge can't be beat."

  • "Greens has been consistently great for all of its 35 or so years and that's mighty hard to do. I've been there a number of times over the years and it's always great. The quality and consistency comes from a deep commitment to provide the very best dining experience and they do it. It doesn't hurt that they've got one of the most spectacular locations in all of San Francisco and a huge parking lot right outside. The only regret is that they no longer sell the Zen Center breads at the front counter."

However, it was mainly tofu and not as many of the other veggies listed. The carrot salad was basically shredded carrots. The tacos and asparagus pizza were wonderful."

  • "I follow a whole grain plant based diet. My husband will eat anything. We both left satisfied and full. I has the Indian Sampler and the Red Curry. Both were excellent. the curry had just the right amount of spice. My husband ordered the Hummous with grilled pita and olives and the Mesquite Grilled Brochettes. As a meat eater, he was very surprised with the taste and texture of the tofu. The service was outstanding. Even with a full restaurant, we felt like we were the servers top priority. I highly recommend this restaurant for a date night."
