  • "The stuffed Poblano Chili I had was spicy and delicious. My friend's Linguini dish was filled with all kinds of tasty veggies and cheese and such a gigantic portion she couldn't finish so she'd have room for the Chocolate Torte. I loved the Raspberry Tart. Service was perfect."

Though the ingredients were top notch, we felt that the green gulch gem salad lacked something (pepper?), and the italian bean soup was rather bland. The fig, arugula, and goat cheese pizza and Moroccan chickpea dishes were better."

  • "Disappointed Saturday is three course prix fixe menu night. Being induced to eat and drink more than is desired is out of date. The concept is entirely suited to please the restaurant, not customers. They offer a limited menu for a set price. They don't have the expense of wasted food from things not ordered and they decide what you must eat. Out of a table of four, one couldn't eat any of the meal they ordered. Waiter didn't offer to bring something else or take it off the bill (and how would that be done with prix fixe - another problem avoided). Second diner ate but didn't like his meal, but also said nothing. The other two were satisfied. This night was the opposite of weekday a la cart dining."

They seated us and allowed us to order some appetizers and a drink and then moved us when the others arrived. Very happy. Have been to Greens many times and will go again!"

(We had a window seat) The only negative was that the tables are very close together and they really pack a lot of people into the space. When it gets rolling, it is very noisy; however, the other pluses pretty much negate this minus."

  • "I always compare high-end vegetarian restaurants to Cafe Flora in Seattle, the city's premier gourmet vegetarian restaurant. While the food was quite inventive and very good quality, the dishes were overpriced. The chili, for example, was very interesting - quinoa stuffed into a roasted pepper, etc. But the price was around 25.00. And while I am used to paying a premium for vegetarian artistry, it just felt like too much. Stunning views and great service, though. And what atmosphere! The cocktail (a "lawnmower" - a type of modified mint julep) was superlative."

  • "Visiting Oakland, we made a foray into San Francisco for the day and chose to have dinner at Greens. One of our party had eaten there some ten years previously and was giving (I thought) unbelievable rave reviews. She under-promised and Greens over-delivered. It was fantastic. Great food, welcoming and attentive service, lovely setting at Fort Mason. Share if necessary, but don't miss a course! Hope I don't have to wait ten years to go back."

  • "This is the best restaurant in San Francisco! I always feel healthy and happy after I eat there, and what could be better than that? The food is healthy and delicious. I have many food restrictions and the wait staff is always so kind about finding out exactly what is in each dish. Sitting and looking at the wonderful view while indulging in a fabulous feast that is good for me is a joy. And Skyler, the server, is wonderful! Good job, Greens!"

  • "I had gratin veggie dish and it was a disappointment. The veggie was wayy to soft and tasted bland. I have always come to Greens but that night i assumed something went wrong at the restaurant. The hostess (blonde girl) was jus arrogant. She was not clear about whether we could get a window seat table and leaving us seating for awhile."

  • "Although I have always enjoyed the food at Greens, I was disappointed with the poached egg dish I ordered for brunch this past Sunday. It was bland, watery and unmemorable--certainly not worth the $17 price paid for it, since we had to order bread (biscuits) separately. My husband did like his omelet a lot, and - in retrospect - I wish I had ordered a different dish. I think Greens should re-think this dish and the way that the veggies are cooked."

  • "I'm definitely pushing for making a trip to Greens with my group of friends for brunch an annual tradition :) The food was delicious, and the service was friendly. As a larger group, we ended up in the room further back, which surprised me, because I hadn't even realized there was dining space back there! Either way, everything was really nice--loved the sweet potato and arugula pizza, and the summer sampler plate has never steered me wrong :D"

  • "My grown daughter and I had a window table for brunch. Ambience - perfect! Service was actually faster than anticipated. I had the Ciabatta French Toast which was awesomely good. My daughter had the pesto pasta which she also enjoyed and I did not try, not wanting to corrupt the delicious sweetness and texture of my French toast. Her Pinot Noir would have been a better choice for my dish than my Chardonnay. I don't get to San Francisco from North Carolina often. Greens is a wonderful stop that I have followed since the '70's. It never fails to please and it is delightful to see the next generation(s) carrying my enthusiasm forward."

It's always so good, tasty and definitely innovative with the way in which they combine various vegetable ingredients to make one believe that it is all possible in the vegetarian world.   • "From the rich, smooth vanilla rooibus tea to the last bite of our delicious vegan dessert, our visit to Greens was a lovely treat. Our Moroccan inspired carrot salad and couscous were elevated from mere side dishes to a mouthwatering punctuation to a delicious main event -- roasted tofu and veg brochettes with a coconut-based sauce, all on a skewer. While we could have wished for more vegan items on the menu, it was nice to have the whole menu from which to order. The best surprise of the night - the lime shining through in the raspberry crumble dessert. The sorbets are TO DIE FOR. To our surprise, there were no false notes, no food at which we could even so much as wrinkle our noses - it was all shockingly good. Win, win, win."
