Greens RestaurantGreens is excellent, as alwaysThe most relaxing, tasty brunch I've had in a long time. Inspired menu, great service, well-priced wines and super view of SF yacht harbor. Oh my!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMVegan food available! We were so delighted with the Tofu scramble they were able to prepare for us it was wonderful.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreens my favorite restaurant!I love the venue. Very relaxed environment. Great service. Delicious food. We were 6 people for dinner, we ordered a variety of dishes, salads and entrees. Everything was succulent including the desert! I always pick Greens when it's up to me to decide. We will be back!
Highly recommended for any occasion.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMI have been going to GreensI have been going to Greens for over 30 years, with friends and family of all ages and food likes. We have never been disappointed in the food or service. Everyone loves it.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreens is always a winnerI am not a vegetarian but I always look forward to a meal at Greens.
Every dish that walked by the table looked beautiful and had me salivating.
I had the poblano chili and it was fantastic, spicy but not too spicy.
It was a gorgeous clear night to see a great sunset.
Noise levels are always too high for me but that's a small price to pay.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMemorableWe celebrated our son's 28th birthday. Great service and food in a beautiful but casual setting. It could not have been nicer. A nice family experience we will carry with us for a long time.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreens IS a gem - a beautifulGreens IS a gem - a beautiful spot right on the Marina, with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge and the hills (or sailboat masts poking through thick fog and gulls floating on the nearest waves). The delicious menu is always fresh, seasonal, wonderfully seasoned and beautifully composed. It can get noisy, but no moreso than other restaurants with lots of glass; and the ambience is unpretentious but pleasant. Then there's that incredible redwood slab at the entrance, which takes your breath away!
PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE NAME IF THIS IS USED ONLINE OR FOR PUBLICATION6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMnot quite what it used to be.Still good. But service seems to be slipping. Not enough wait staff and they weren't attentive enough. Seating too tight, as always.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMStill strong after all those yearsGreens has been at Fort Mason for many years and it has not lost any of its vitality, food quality, and excellent service. The food is very flavorful, very well presented, and to top it off, quite healthy. Service was good; wait staff friendly and efficient. We go back again and again and are never disappointed.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and location! The view of the yacht harbor (harbor seals on dock included) and the Golden Gate are spectacular and the choices and quality of the food are fantastic! This vegetarian fare is good for meat-eaters and awesome for vegetarians who are used to one or two choices on a menu. Our server was super pleasant and spot-on with her recommendations for us. Highly recommend!!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother Good Greens MealI've never had a bad experience at Greens in the decades that I've been going (though pretty rarely). This time, my vegan companion ordered a vegan option that was perfect. I ordered a dish with poached eggs, having specifically asked for eggs poached easy, (and there were other specials on the menu featuring poached eggs), and got hard-cooked poached eggs. When I pointed this out to the server, she instantly whisked them away and came back in an astonishingly short time with perfect poached eggs. Can't vote 100% for the cooking, but 150% for the service. How can you go wrong at Greens? The only other places on the waterfront with this kind of view are astronomically expensive.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGourmet meals, despite vegetarianWhile I am not a vegetarian, my wife is. As such, The Greens is one of her absolute favorite restaurants. We have eaten there many times during our marriage, and I have found the food and atmosphere to always be most enjoyable. While the meals are meatless, which I usually consider a negative, this restaurant is innovative in its use of ingredients and preparations. Additionally, they have an excellent wine list, and the servers are personable and proactive. As a result, I very much enjoy eating there.
If you are interested in a unique gourmet experience, or are a vegetarian who is seeking a quality restaurant that caters to your needs, I very much recommend The Greens.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMInventive and great food,Inventive and great food, especially if you are not a vegitarian. A very pleasant experience, we'll return soon,6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMJust as good the second timeWe are from another state, and as vegetarians, we marked this restaurant down on our last visit as a place we must return to. It was a pleasure to dine at an establishment with such a nice view and ambience for vegetarians only. This time was just as good or better than the first. But you better make a reservation on a weekend night. It's very popular!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreens is greatIncredible view of fog rolling into bay while sun setting, amazing food, wonderful service and even when our waitress messed up our pizza, she gave us a free appetizer to enjoy while we waited for her to correct it. Romantic and lovely spot for date, highly recommend the rissotto!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is fabulousSecond time at Greens and the menu is so delightful, that you don't even realize the absence of meat. The view is one of my top 3 in the whole city; great place to bring visitors.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMVegetarians DelightThe food and the ambiance is great! I had folks in my group who were skeptical about going to a vegetarian restaurant but they loved the food. For someone who is not familiar with the area, it will be hard to find the restaurant. Make sure to have a map or call them for directions. There is no obvious sign on the main street. The location is very pretty with the big windows overlooking the water and the boats.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMI say special occasion meaningI say special occasion meaning if one wants to try a vegetarian place that makes food not feel/look like something "too healthy." then this place should be on your list. The food was very good. It's not a place we would frequent, but just for something different and for a change. The usual scenic view could have been better had the weather cooperated. We enjoyed the restaurant overall and would return to try other items from the menu. Our out-of-towners enjoyed it as well.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Vegetarian Gourmet FoodMy wife and I go here for most special occasions. The food is always excellent, the service is on point and courteous, and the view of the Golden Gate is as romantic as it gets.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe hadn't been to Greens forWe hadn't been to Greens for many years but found it as enjoyable as the last time. The food is creative and delicious, and vegetarians needn't ask about the ingredients of the soup, as is the case in most restaurants. The light, open atmosphere and the bay and marina view added to our Sunday lunch experience. Our server was pleasant and efficient.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful meal. StaffWe had a wonderful meal. Staff was great and changed a drink I didn't like; made sure we got out on time for a show at 7.
My husband and son loved the mushroom risotto and they are meat lovers!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ambience, food and view!Greens Restaurant is in one of the best locations in San Francisco, at Fort Mason, with a view of the Marina and the Golden Gate Bridge. We went there with the whole family, us two and 3 boys. It was a great experience for all of us. We are vegetarian, as is the restaurant, so we fit right in. The food was very tasty, and the portions very reasonable, not like most restaurants in the US where they serve too much. It is on the slightly expensive side, with about $15+ per entree. The view more than makes up for it.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGlorious GreensWe love dining here—it is a fantastic "special occasion" restaurant that is totally worth the trek from the East Bay, not only for the fantastic, complex and elegantly prepared vegan and vegetarian fare, but also for the million-dollar views of the Golden Gate Bridge and wildlife in the Bay just outside the window.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent for brunchA very creative menu, healthful choices, great variety, excellent service, plenty of parking at Fort Mason, can't beat the view!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother memorable treatOur family always plans a brunch or lunch at Greens to celebrate very special occasions. This week we met for my daughter's birthday lunch. As always, the food was deliciously fresh and tasty. I enjoyed the seasonal veggie tasting plate, and others loved the portobello sandwich and the stir-fry. Service was great, attentive without being intrusive. Another 4-star experience!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMExellenceThis was one of the finest meals we have ever had. The setting was beautiful; the menu was outstanding; the presentation was lovely; the tastes of each dish exquisite. We have been to Green's four or five times in the past: most very good, one also excellent, one not so good; this one by far the best. We have recently gone vegan, and we greatly appreciated the wide variety of choices: and of course the excellence of our choices. And there are few places with a better location.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMI loved this place! GreatI loved this place! Great food, staff and ambiance. I'm just wondering who I'm coming back with! ;)5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful eveningFood was so good, and so many tasty vegetarian things to choose from. We especially loved the cheese plate and the grilled abaca do and quinoa starters.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThank you to our server, LAURIE,Thank you to our server, LAURIE, for a great lunch experience!5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMSomewhat Surprising ReturnIt had been years, actually, a couple of decades since my husband and I had been to Greens. We had liived out-of-state for many of those years and since our return we just hadn't gone there. In reality the state of organic vegetarian and vegan cuisine has evolved and grown in availability, popularity and creativity to the point that Greens is no longer as rare or as special"as it once was. This visit was more like a comfortable homecoming than a very special occasion. The food was very good, beautifully presented and eminated healthfulness. Our service person was engaging, delightful and attentive. The view was peaceful and pleasant. My dinning companion of forty-six years was, unquestionably, the most wonderful part of the experience!5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways an excellent vegetarianAlways an excellent vegetarian menu. We enjoy Greens at least once a month given it's menu variety and excellent wait staff.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMIt doesn't need meat to be amazing!I live in Kansas and always try to eat at Greens whenever I visit San Francisco. It is my favorite restaurant in the entire country. The quality of the food is always outstanding and, without the distraction of meat, the favors of the vegetables take center stage. The sauces and seasonings always enhance, never overpower. On this visit our favorite dish was the pasta with broccoli followed closely by the amazing strawberry rhubarb galette. My bowl of black bean chili convinced me that good beans dont need anything more than onions, tomatoes, chilis and great seasonings.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful experienceOur dinner was phenomenal -- exceptionally fresh vegetables, imaginative preparation, savory sauces, and excellent service. Greens is more than a vegetarian restaurant -- it's a gourmet experience during which you will never once wish for meat.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a pleasureGreens is simply wonderful. Amazing, creative food, served with panache and style -- yet in a relaxed and beautiful atmosphere. It's always a treat to eat at Greens, and I go every time I'm in San Francisco.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and a viewThe Greens is consistently excellent. The menu is creative, the food is delicious, and the service is spot-on. The location can't be beat as well - most tables have a direct view of the Golden Gate Bridge and parking is a breeze.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGood...I got my meat-loving husband to come, and was happy to get a "sure" when I asked if he'd come again. Great flavors of all dishes. Very friendly, knowledgeable server, but too absent toward end of the meal. The potato cakes (starter) are $11.75. I was expecting they'd be at least 3" in diameter. Instead, I received three tepid, diminutive cakes with three sides - a teensy pile of herbs/greens, a dollop of creme fraiche, and a lovely red pepper sauce. They were good, but even $9 would have felt pricey - although $9 would not have led me to complain. Also, I realize there's an informational aspect of labeling the farm/source of things, but how about just acknowledging farms/dairies/other at the bottom of the menu? Still, a very good meal.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMVegetarian fare with a viewGreens serves solid vegetarian fare - nothing too daring, but high quality, flavorful, and balanced. The wine list is extensive; the beer list is a bit short. The large picture windows offer an outstanding view of the Golden Gate Bridge and the marina.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious brunch on the BayI made reservations for myself and two friends for a birthday celebration for one of the friends whose vegan. We had Memorial Sunday brunch and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious! There were so many great dishes on the menu we had difficulty choosing. The service was great and the ambience is so nice. On the water by a marina, views of the Bay and GG Bridge. Highly recommend the "bottomless" mimosas...a great value if you plan to have more than 2 glasses. We had a memorable experience and one we will not forget....highly recommend this restaurant for vegans, vegetarians and I'm neither, but love good food and was very satisfied sans carnivore.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the waitOur visit to Greens started off with a long wait despite our reservation. Once we were seated, service was none too speedy, but the food is definitely worth the wait. Though none of us are vegetarians, the meal (Sunday brunch) was very satisfying.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a pleasure to eat hereAlways a pleasure to eat here and enjoy the fabulous view. One of our favorite special-occasion places.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food and serviceThis is the perfect place to take a group which includes vegetarians and omnivores. The food is so delicious that the meat eaters do not miss their steaks! This is our go to place for celebrations and also for out of town guests. In addition the service is impeccable.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a hitGreens combines a primo location with incredible food. The service is attentive and efficient. I have never been disappointed with my meal there.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMBest in the cityThis iconic place has maintained it's leadership in the vegetarian food movement , with amazing and incentive offerings for years. The trick at least in part are the tremendous local organic fresh ingredients, and the accumulated wisdom and consistency of the kitchen. Add a location on the water looking at sail boats while sitting in a red wood burl, and really, there's little in the dining world better. Ever. Anywhere. Plus the years of zen practice show.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways Wonderful!Delicious, beautiful, perfection. Beautifully prepared food with every attention to detail.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dinner!I've been to Greens once before and loved the atmosphere and vegetarian fare, thus I returned for a second time. The food is delicious and service is friendly. The only downside is that it is a bit pricey, so I would recommend coming here on a special occasion, not on a regular basis.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a TreatI don't know how Annie Sommerville continues to outdo herself but we all are blessed that she does. When not enjoying conversation, savoring the food and wine the sea liona were particularly entertaining. The evening was a perfect delight.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMgreens greatbought friends from boston who along with my wife and I who've been to greens many times really enjoyed the food....thought the white wine was better than the red and that while boston has many good places to eat it doesn't have a vegetarian place to compare....5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food, perfect settingFirst time to Greens and look forward to many more. Menu was a pleasure just to read with so many different choices. Service was cheerful and calm. Entree was flavorful, healthy and good portion size. Bayside setting at sunset topped off a perfect dinner.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMVegetarian excellenceThis is the standard setter in vegetarian restaurants; all of the food is expertly prepared and well-presented. It's located on a pier adjacent to a marina, so the setting is lovely as well, and if the weather's good, it's a terrific place for brunch or lunch.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMSaturday night fixed menuSaturday night fixed menu was perfect for a special birthday celebration for a Vegetarian. Beautiful and delicious offerings of fresh, seasonal ingredients were well paired. Wait staff were attentive to our needs and provided tastes and extras for the "birthday girl." Incredible view of the Golden Gate Bridge to compliment the meal. I loved the spices and combination of my filo wrap and another of our party had a ravioli dish that captured the freshness of Spring. Wonderful splurge for a special occasion.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
