Green Zebraexcellent innovative vegetarianHave not been here in a while...the food and service still spot on. We enjoyed everything,6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFor Vegetarian's & Carnivore'sFood was excellent. Shows how a creative chef can make delicious food without using any meat. Wait staff was friendly and helpful. I would go running back there!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMSimple, Clean, and VibrantI loved the youthful, comfortable vibe of Green Zebra. The menu catered to a variety of tastes: curry, pasta, etc. The soups and lighter dishes were good, we were split on the curry. The show stopper, however, was the Duck Egg with potato puree--phenomenal. The cocktails were beautifully done and the bartender really went above and beyond to offer suggestions, describe dishes and make us feel at home (we arrived early for our reservation). I can't wait to return.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMTHE Gourmet vegetarian retaurantAs usual a delightful vegetarian dining experience. Always one or the highlights of my annual visits to
Chicago. Pricy but worth it.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMVegetarian for meat-loversI was someone who is a vegetarian so we went here after hearing great things. The food was so full of flavor that I didn't really miss the meat. That's quite an accomplishment for me!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingReal food at it's finest. When the waitress starts with "we have a forager" you know you're in for a treat!5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMkeeping with traditionA group of colleagues and I found this restaurant 4 years ago and fell in love with menu and service. 4 years later, our group has grown and we've made this a staple in our trip to Chicago. The menu is so different and unique and service explaining the different menu items and cocktail was very helpful. The Green Zebra has made me a vegetarian menu lover! We look forward to coming back next year!5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMmagic mushroomsA three-course tasting menu featuring morel mushrooms was superb, each serving better than the excellent one before. An outstanding experience that will keep me coming back.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMabsolutely loved the morelabsolutely loved the morel 3-course dinner. Our group added a few extra plates and we were not disappointed. I am looking forward to our next visit.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing experienceGreen Zebra was a great experience. I went there with a group to celebrate my friend's engagement and we were greeted with complementary champagne and she got a free dessert at the end of the night. If that wasn't enough, the food was to die for. It is a little pricey as you need to get 2-3 plates to have a full meal, but once you try the first you will want to eat all night long. It is the type of food that you take a bite and pause so you can savor every bite to its fullest. Go here.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMUpscale Vegetarian DelightGreat twists and seasonal fare combined with great service from start to finish..Very accommodating on a all requests...
We will return...5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing tasting menusMorel madness was something to talk about. What the Green Zebra does with veggies should wow any omnivore.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious vegetarian foodMy wife is vegetarian but I am not. We chose to go to Green Zebra on a recent trip to Chicago. Our other dining destination in the trip was Alinea, so that says something about our goals for the trip. Green Zebra was very busy but our service was great. The food was very satisfying... bold flavors and some substantial choices. My wife loved the creamy carrot soup and I enjoyed the bean soup with jalapeno. The red curry had a good amount of heat. Both the polenta cake (lots of blue cheese) and the asparagus tart were fantastic. We really liked the cherry compote for desert.. not overly sweet. Would definitely go back. Plus, after I forgot to take my credit card when leaving, our server ran across multiple lanes of traffic to return it to me!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMHitting its strideThe food's gotten noticeably better over the years and is finally at a point where it lives up to the hype. It's vegetarianness is irrelevant. These are just simply artful, delicious, and satisfying meals.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMMorel Madness! The special morel menu is to die for. Bonus that one of the dishes contained ramp hollandaise :) Great meal, great service. Anytime GZ is offering a special menu, there is a reason - take advantage of it!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing vegetarian/vegan selection!Read reviews online about this restaurant and it exceeded our expectations for a date night. Amazing vegetarian options. Very unique and gourmet food selection that should please most people. The ambience is great too. We had a wonderful experience. The waitress even ran out and hailed a cab for us at the end of the dinner. Highly recommended.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful timeHad a great time, was very good using space in restaurant efficiently.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderfulCreative and tasty dishes served with outstanding presentation. The service was very good too.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic! While visiting Chicago I had the opportunity to go to the Green Zebra and experience a Fantastic meal. We had the chefs tasting meal since we wanted everything on the menue and could not decide what to eat. i would recommend to anyone for a great dining experience5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreen ZebraWe went to Green Zebra a sunday night. The ambiance is very felted and the food is very good. The waitress was a little bit snob and the menu to complicated. I read it five time before a make a choice.
We realy enjoy our evening.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMA surpriseOverall, I enjoyed Green Zebra. The only drawback was the volume. It was extremely loud in a negative way. The food was amazing though.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food - excellent serviceWorked through the tasting menu and accompanying wines - 4 out of 5 dishes flawless, and the other was almost so. Turns out it was a new addition to the menu, so guessing the final kinks are working out!
Outstanding vegetarian restaurant.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMKeeping it aliveWe've been going to the Green Zebra for a number of years now, ever since our son started going to school here. Now, some seven years later, we still look forward to our visits, always curious to see what they've come up with. This last visit was no exception. As a vegan-pescatarian couple, our tastes don't align completely, but they're close enough. My wife loved her spicy five bean soup and lentil loaf, while I thoroughly enjoyed my polenta and chocolate mousse. We both loved the maitake mushroom and kimchi side dish. The creativity here never rests.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMDeelish Gourmet VegetarianThis is a gourmet restaurant that just doesn't have meat in the delicious preparations. It is NOT your standard "vegetarian burger" kinda place. Check out their menu online. Very unique experience.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Vegetarian Haute CuisineDaring and delicious food combinations, decent portion size, reasonably priced. Service was adequate, but server was a bit of a stick in the mud. All things considered, we'd return.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Vegeterian FoodThis was our first time to this restaurant. We had made reservation for Tuesday evening, we were seated promptly.
I would definitely recommend making reservation for Green Zebra, given it was very busy even on Tuesdays. On every tuesday they have special menu with different cuisine every week.We ordered 6 dishes for 2 people ,and we loved 5 of them. The desert menu is great too..will definitely go there again..5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA pleasant surpriseThe Green Zebra gets great reviews but admittedly I thought it might be a bit of stretch taking the family - mostly for me and our two girls (ages 11 and 10) due to our limited vegetarian palette. The server was excellent, patiently answering our questions of the menu. The food was fantastic across the board and better yet we walked away feeling healthy and ready for the day. The kids of course loved the exotic sodas.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMIncredible!Unique, flavorful, and absolutely delicious vegetarian cuisine! Even omnivores will love it!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMImaginative and delectable food!I chose this restaurant to treat a dear friend to a birthday dinner. She's vegan, so I wanted her to have a truly indulgent dinner. A friend recommended Green Zebra to me and it was the best recommendation. Every single plate was melt-in-our-mouths incredible. They were so inventive and their presentation is gorgeous. The server was very kind and she even brought a birthday cupcake for my friend. So thoughtful! I will gladly go back to the Green Zebra!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful as alwaysI went on a date for the Tuesday tasting series (Miami). Everything was delicious and timing of food was well spaced. I love taking a culinary journey with Green Zebra. Will be back soon!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMTop Vegetarian RestaurantThis is an upscale and great vegetarian restaurant. It has ambience, well prepared and excellent food as well as outstanding presentation. the service is attentive but a bit casual. Reservations are recommended as the dining area is small.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful As AlwaysThis is my favorite restaurant and I am not a vegetarian. The food is so good it does not need any meat in it. Green Zebra is always excellent.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFit for the vegetarian/vegan foodieThis place has amazing vegetarian/vegan food that even the most habitual carnivore will love!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I recently wentMy wife and I recently went to Green Zebra for dinner. We were both really impressed with our waiters knowledge of the food and the wine/bar options. We didn't drink ourselves but we heard our waiter field several very specific questions from another table.
The food was excellent. We only gave it a four because not all of the items on the menu were gems. My wife, who has a better mind for taste enjoyed 3 elegant choices from the menu, each with a new bursting flavor, richness, and crispness (Roasted Golden Beet Salad, Zingerman’s Burrata, and a side I can't remember the name of). I, on the other hand, went with things that sounded good and was met with an above average meal; except for the Chilled Somen Noodles which were my most favorit4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMSo happy to have a vegan/vegetarianSo happy to have a vegan/vegetarian option for fine dining!!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant in Chi-townWe love our veg snooty food and this filled the bill!
Great for foodies; will stop here again when in Chicago4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMMonthly regional dinner a hitWe tried their monthly regional selection of southwestern fare. All of the courses were excellent, except that the tamales were a bit dense on corn meal. The paired wines were all excellent and well chosen.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe and our guests had an excellentWe and our guests had an excellent meal, and a very fun and enjoyable time. The food was nothing short of amazing.,.ultra cutting-edge and so many extraordinary flavors and textures. Innovative, bold and exciting. It's amazing so much can be done with non-meat foods, and that an all-vegetarian meal can be so satisfying. None of us felt deprived. Green Zebra brings together the best of gourmet cooking as both a science and an art. I would recommend Green Zebra to any who enjoys fine dining--the vegetarians and the meat-eaters without hesitation. Stellar service, too, and impressive wine list.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of our favorite ChicagoOne of our favorite Chicago spots for dinner. Wonderful courses including desert!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time at a vegetarianFirst time at a vegetarian restaurant so I didn't know what to expect. The food was excellent. I've already reccomended this place to friends.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious alternativeIt could be considered "out of the way", but well worth the cab ride. Delicious veg food that would not be off-putting to non-veg eaters. My husband and I have been 80% veg for a year now and this was our first visit. We love Kinzie Chophouse for a special occasion, but wanted something less meat focused for a change. Green Zebra's variety and flavors will have us coming back for sure. Expect to spend $40+ per person if you have the recommended 3-4 plates per plus a cocktail or two.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food at Green Zebra isThe food at Green Zebra is to die for. The food is all vegetarian, but so rich that even meat-lovers won't notice anything missing. Service is excellent.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful for vegetarians.Wonderful for vegetarians. It is very pricey, but well worth it.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was great, enjoyedEverything was great, enjoyed my time there and food is amazing. Only the lady waiting near the entres was horrible. We where late 15-20 minutes, she told me in a face that we where late for an hour. I had table for three, but one of my friends didn't arrive yet, and they let other people go before us, so we where waiting for like an hour to be sitted...
Otherwise, I had a great time4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and great times! The food here is truly spectacular! This was my second time at the zebra and I could not have been happier! Keep it up!!4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food here is some of theThe food here is some of the best I've had (and I live in New York). Very original, inventive, natural, delicious. Less crazy about the decor, which is somewhat odd for a restaurant of this caliber; and the service was nice but unremarkable. Menu, however, is tough to beat, particularly for vegetarians. My wife eats very little meat and found a ton of options nonetheless.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMToo much butter. Only needToo much butter. Only need 3 dishes for a full meal, not 4-5.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMeverything is rightOur need for fresh springtime food was more than met at Spring. Service was graceful, including williness to mix a different drink (Silver Slipper) after I was disappointed with the Ten Commandments. Every plate was beautifully prepared and presented. The chocolate mousse was worth the visit in itself.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a wonderful restaurant,This is a wonderful restaurant, table setup is very nice for groups and couples both-but it is noisy for groups to hear each other. Was a vibrant place, excellent service, alot of parking nearby. Food is subtle and excellent.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was great, especiallyThe food was great, especially the tasting menu. However, the restaurant was extremely noisy, more like a bar and the table space was inadequate for anyone over 5'8" tall. Our server was fabulous, very attentive and nice.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AM
