Green Valley GrillMy Favorite Greensboro RestaurantI moved to Greensboro from San Francisco, the restaurant capital of the US. I was afraid I wouldn't find any good places to eat here. Green Valley Grill is as close to a great Bay Area restaurant as one can get. Everything about dining at GVG is a delight. I haven't had a bad meal yet. The service is always top notch and friendly, not stuffy. The food is innovative without being precious. It is definitely my favorite Greensboro restaurant.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMDeliciousConsistently excellent food and service. The mahi-mahi entree was equisite and the scallops were another favorite.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasant atmosphereDelightful waitress, her timing and enthusiasm was spot on.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreensboro GroupI have dined at Green Valley Grill many times. We held our son's graduation night dinner party there. The service was friendly and not over bearing. The food was delicious. Their use of local suppliers means that ingredients are fresh and tasty. Everyone had a wonderful night.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFAVORITE restaurant in GreensboroWe celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary at the Green Valley Grill last week. Food was phenomenal as always! Our waitress was Erin & she was just wonderful. Very attentive & sweet. Anniversary dessert was AMAZING! Up .2 pounds at Weight Watchers this week but it was TOTALLY worth it! THANK YOU GVG. See you next anniversary :)6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA Greensboro destination siteIf you like great food using local, fresh ingredients this is the place. The food tastes as good as it looks. Service is attentive without being intrusive. We drove over an hour to meet friends from Atlanta and decided on GVG for dinner. Everyone was delighted by their meal-- from the Truffle Fries, and Tomato Salad (an amazing story on how they got such great tomatoes so early in the season!) appetizers, to each of our dishes. I usually do not order classic Italian dishes, but the lasagna -- made with local sausage-- was a harmony of deep flavors that everyone at our table loved! We agreed we needed another few days to sample the rest of the menu. We will make the 90-minute trip to Greensboro just to eat at Green Valley Grill again.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a good mealWe eat at the Green Valley Grill every time we go to Greensboro. The hotel where it's located, O. Henry, is classy. Green Valley always has a number of chef's specials themed by the season or cuisine. This month's was Mediterranean. Service is always good. Ambience is OK, but not really romantic; booths and tables can be a bit close together. Don't fail to order the Frozen Nutty irishman. a concoction of chocolate cake, frozen Bailey's Cream mousse and crumbled toffee candy on top.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent as usualGVG never disappoints! The service is great. For this trip we made lunch reservations for a group of 12. We were promptly seated and the service throughout our meal was wonderful. Everyone seemed happy with their food selections.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMBest mealWhen my girl friends birthday came around this year I decided to take her to Green Valley Grill... And wow I made a great choice the Athens pasta may have been the thing I have ever had. It was such a fun and classy dinning experience I would recommend it to anyone!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday DinnerWent with a couple of friends for a birthday. We were seated immediately, service was quick and efficient. It was a little noisy because a local college was hosting graduation dinners, but very enjoyable overall.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been to the GreenWe have been to the Green Valley Grill on several occasions, and have never been disappointed. The menu selection is wide ranging, always complimented with outstanding chef specials. And you will be hard pressed to find better service at another restaurant in Greensboro.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat location for a specialGreat location for a special celebration. In the 13 years we've been regulars, we've NEVER had a bad meal or anything less than exemplary service.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMI have dined at GVG twiceI have dined at GVG twice and both times the food and service were superb!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMLate Mother's Daya group of us took our 92 year old Mother to supper on Saturday and - as in the past - had a wonderful time. The waiter was especially attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and the food was excellent, especially the black pepper crust scallops and short ribs.
We have been eating the GVG since in first opened and have never been disappointed.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful as always. SandraWonderful as always. Sandra is the perfect waitstaff person!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful morning brunchVisited on Mother's Day and had a wonderful brunch. The food was great and the service was outstanding. We had a nice quiet booth.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent experience!Went to Green Valley Grill for lunch on Mother's Day at noon. Got seated immediately, food and service were outstanding! It was a little noisier than usual, but the place was packed as you might guess.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMDucky! The duck confit salad was wonderful! This is one of the best menus Chef has created in the past year.
Thank goodness, Salmon is finally featured in an entrée other than the perennial grape leaf option.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExpectations met or exceededGreat combination of friendly, warm atmosphere and excellent food. View of open kitchen and wood fired oven adds to the ambiance. The service is very courteous and informative. The outside dining area is especially inviting in the spring and summer. My wife and I have dined here many times and have celebrated many staff birthdays here at their request.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent ServiceThe food was very good. My wife enjoyed the cauliflower steak and cubed sweet potatoes. She is a vegetarian, and finding hearty meals for her when we go out is sometimes difficult. I enjoyed the chicken parm with potatoes and broccoli. Very good food, and excellent service.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceThe food was excellent, atmosphere was great, and the service was awesome.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA wonderful dining experience! We were seated immediately upon arrival. Our server was very attentive. Beverages were served and replenished quickly. No "children's menu," but they have children's entrees. The menu featured seafood, beef, duck, chicken and vegetarian entrees. The pecan crusted trout and filet mignon were perfectly prepared. A generous portion of trout was served with tasty polenta and the filet was served with delicious mashed potatoes. Both dishes were served with steamed broccoli. The meal took one hour. I also highly recommend the truffle fries.
The Green Valley Grill is very consistent in its food quality. It is one of finest restaurants in Greensboro. Although it would be considered "pricey," it's a great value. A wonderful dining experience!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFive StarsGreat for intimate dinning or with a group of friends. Excellent food choices and great tasting. Very classy, yet warm and inviting. I will definitely visit again!!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary DinnerMy wife and I went to Green Valley Grill to celebrate our anniversary. First, the server was outstanding. Our drinks were never empty and the appetizer and food were served promptly. Unfortunately, the food was good but not great, I was expecting a little better. We had a sampler appetizer plate. The humus was good, but I especially liked the spring roll and cucumber sauce. The meatballs were not impressive. For dinner I had scallops on what I think was grits. It was great! My wife had 3 way duck. This was our only major issue. One of the "ways" was Foie Gras. Being rather blue collar, I had no idea that meant cold duck livers... YUCK, we thought it was just undercooked. I only wish we'd known that before ordering.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ExperienceWe went for my brother's graduation dinner and had a wonderful time. Our server was fantastic and made sure we had a great experience.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect Spot for Graduation Dinner! We went here for our son's graduation dinner and couldn't have chosen a better place. Everyone raved about their food. I had the Campanelle Pasta--it had shrimp, garlic, wild mushrooms, their own house cured pulled pork belly--SO good and perfect portion. We are not from Greensboro, but my family had been here once for a wedding reception where we found the food to be exceptional. I highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGood ExperienceThe food and atmosphere of the Green Valley Grill were great. Very inviting and warm place. The food was very good. Went to Green Valley Grill for Sunday brunch and it was wonderful. Great food and great service!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food great serviceFood was great but some what pricey. The server was very friendly and attentive wish I could remember his name. Not sure if the management cared enough about the comfort of the customers with the cold air vents blasting on top of our table.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMHad not been to GVG in a yearHad not been to GVG in a year or so. It was a great experience - food and service were outstanding.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreensboro Great!Really nice place. Our server was new, and not very adept. Others kept coming by to make sure things were going okay. The Duck and Fig flatbread was great, although a little big. I almost didn't need dinner, but glad I still had it. Great food, great bar menu, nice atmosphere.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect lunchFish selections of the day was well prepared and sauces well paired. Service was attentive . Vegetable substitution was accommodated with ease. Dessert prepared in house. Would definately return.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Quack is Back !Finally, duck reappears on the lunch and brunch menus after a long absence. I enjoyed the Duck Confit on flatbread with port wine, figs and a light Romesco sauce for Sunday brunch. Very innovative and very tasty. The grilled Cauliflower "steak" is also inventive, beautifully seasoned and surprisingly filling for an all vegetarian entree. I love this most recent menu.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love gvg!!! We are alwaysWe love gvg!!! We are always satisfied with the food. we get great service everytime4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is the restaurant gemThis is the restaurant gem of Greensboro and the entire Triad. The service is superior to any other dining in our area. The food is of the highest quality and the chef handles special request with finesse and ease. GVG is always my first choice! Quaintance-Weaver is to be commended for all their Triad establishments. We citizens are fortunate indeed.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMLocal Fare and Classy FlairThis is a beautiful restaurant located in the O'Henry Hotel in Greensboro, NC. The specials are very seasonal and locally oriented. From the moment you walk in the door you feel you are at an establishment that is a cut above. For the quality and amount of food you get, the prices are slightly higher than usual, but nothing out of the ordinary. Entrees range from 20 to 30 dollars, and they are worth every penny for a special meal out. The building itself is gorgeous with arched brickwork and small modern touches. The lighting is perfectly balanced, and non-obtrusive due to the fixtures being so high in the ceiling. The only downside was the relaxed service; our waiter wasn't in a rush for anything. Overall, it was worth the price!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMYum!Excellent service, fresh, yummy leek soup, unique chicken and bacon sandwich on focacia, and vanilla bean creme brulee for dessert--what more can I say. We each had soup, shared a sandwich and shared dessert and the waiter didn't blink an eye. We had delicious bread and our drinks at the table within seconds of our arrival!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMOur server was wonderful andOur server was wonderful and made fantastic suggestions. This was our first time to the Green Valley Grill and we will visit again,4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMI has the pecan crusted trout,I has the pecan crusted trout, polenta, and green beans. The polenta and the green beans were ex Ellen's. the trout was just okay, and the blurred blanc was so blamd I did not eat it, or take it home with the to go box.
The ambience and service was outstanding, but I won't get the trout again, very bland.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThank you! My lunch was delicious,Thank you! thank you4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways make it a point toAlways make it a point to have dinner at Green Valley when I am in town for Furniture Show. Never disappointed . Had the short ribs. Best I ever had. Reasonable prices and great staff. You can't miss with Green Valley.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMOkThe filet was good, not great, but good. At $31, it probably should have been better. Another in our party had the 'special' which was a Mahi-Mahi over polenta with some spicy sausage. Although she liked it - a couple of us tasted it and thought it had a particularly "unusal" (not in such a good way) flavor. My wife had the grape-leave covered salmon, which she enjoyed. All in all, 3 stars for food. It was early, around 6 PM, and they were moving tables, piling up chairs, doing "stuff" right beside us which was a bit of a distraction, but not too bad.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMI took my beautiful Fiance`I took my beautiful Fiance` here on her 25th Birthday and she really enjoyed it.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect for business dinnerPerfect for business dinner where diverse cultures suggest a wide selection of menu options.
