Diner Reviews
  • "As always, most enjoyable. This time it was a little noisey. So we had to speak up. I know there is nothing you can do, but we were batting the birds away! (Don't tell Peta!) In fact one of them managed to get to our bread when we were not looking! Overall, a very good time."

  • "when we checked at the host stand the hostess said they did not have my reservation. I told her Open Table sent me a conformation that morning. She did not have it & thought I was at the wrong restaurant. No - I was at the right one. The manager was able to seat us (2) on the patio as requested. The Dianne Salad is outstanding, as is the zucchini bread! Both of us had the Summer Pasta with shrimp which was delicious! This is a great restaurant for lunch - I have not yet been for dinner; but will check it out."

  • "This is one of my favorite local spots to go to if its either to catch lunch for a friend or go for brunch on the weekend with my husband... Haven't tried anything here that we have dislike so far.... you get to pick to either sit inside or outdoors... service is good... atmosphere is nice and after your meal you can go out and stroll the neighborhood and shop"

  • "The Green Street Restaurant successfully works hard to maintain its well-deserved reputation for great food and outstanding service. We never tire of it!"

  • "Breakfast is just another meal to these folks--meaning they give preparing it the same professional attention they give lunch and dinner. The breakfast menu--broader in scope than most--offers variations on traditional favorites. Multiple versions of eggs benedict, for example, including a spicy southwestern interpretation and a vegetarian one. The best breakfast potatoes I've had, a crispy home-fried treatment that is unique. Service is prompt, professional and pleasant. A good choice in all respects."

  • "We like Green Street for a casual dinner. Their salads and sandwiches are always very good, and the service is usually fine except when they become very busy. Excellent Diane Salad and breads."

  • "Food was ok but we had a group of 6 and they crammed us into a table beside a tight aisle. The back of my chair kept getting banged into by people trying to get by. We finally asked to be moved but got attitude. Our waiter then took forever to take our order; we finally had to go in search of someone to help us. For the prices, they should work on providing better service."

  • "Excellent Diane (Chinese chicken) salad and zucchini bread. There was a wait but they had a nice table saved for our party of 5. We took both our daughter's grandmas and, as my hubby said, made two old ladies very happy. Too full for carrot cake which my aunt in Seattle gets cravings for and has to come here when she's in town."

  • "We have patronized Green Street Restaurant since 1977 when the restaurant was in it's infancy and in all these years I have never had a complaint. Green Street has always provided stellar Customer service and delicious food. The salad Dianne has always been my favorite, however please excuse me if I've spelled it wrong. This salad is so popular that Trader Joe's has their own version of it!!!"

  • "Had dinner w/group from church and on lunch another day for my granddaughters birthday. Delicious food as always. Wonderful atmosphere whether inside or out. We've been coming here for many, many years. Food is always delicious."

  • "This restaurant has always been one of my absolute faves. I've dined both on the patio, and inside, and the ambience is always fantastic. The menu has a wide variety of options, and the wine list is fantastic. An absolute must-have is the zucchini bread. It's off-the-charts. Would highly recommend, for any occasion, big or small, casual or romantic!"

  • "Was disappointed when the host took our party of 4 to a table that was in the middle of the room and in a busy isle for waiters. I expressed that I had made a reservation a week earlier and that the table they were seating us at was unacceptable. The host went back to the manager and found us a better table. The restaurant was super noisy at 12:30pm. Would have been better if I had made a reservation for a table outside where it was less noisy."

  • "Menu is interesting, hopeful, but the meal quality was fair for dinner (brunch was fine) -- Kobe beef burgers good, not great, served with ice-burg lettuce leaf, hot house tomato, fries and/or sweet potato fries -- undistinguished for the price."

  • "Meh! Not so special. Stick to breakfast and brunch and you will be fine. But skip this place for dinner. It's basically a glorified Denny's."

  • "Having worked and lived in and around Pasadena for years, with the ever changing scene, it's great that the Green Street is still around and is a reliable standby for variety, quality of food and ambience. This latest dinner was with our son and girlfriend, who were on brief trip from NYC - and yes she appreciated eating out on the patio and our weather."

  • "This restaurant is so mixed up nothing much is good. The setting in the inside is characterless. The food seemed to me overpriced and not particularly well made, basically the AHI tuna burger was raw, not seared. We didn't even bother getting it recooked, even though this was offered and they did remove it from the bill. One of the wines brought to the table was corked and being sold at $12.50/glass. The server did not know about the wines or the beers and did not offer to bring someone over that would."

  • "Had a great potato hash with poached eggs on top. Restaurant had tons of options. Bit of an old timer spot - lots of older folks and families. "

  • "There's almost always a wait so make a reservation. A Pasadena staple. Big menu so there's something for everyone. The Diane salad is legendary, and for good reason."

  • "for the 1st time this place was quite nice and worthy of coming back.... the food was very tasty and fresh... i had the strip steak and my friend had the salad Dianne with steak filet... both were excellent....next we'd try the pastas and perhaps the sandwiches, which all looked good as we were looking around..."

  • "There places one goes to over and over again, often not because you expect a stupendous meal or a culinary surprise. We do it because we know--with a degree of certainty--that what you receive is what you have come to expect. The menu may change slightly, what with specials and the like. But the hallmark here is the consistency of the kitchen and a level of service that's had to find in restaurants at any price point. As they say in the South, these are good folks. And collectively, they do good work and offer a satisfying meal at a reasonable price. Reason enough to go with some regularity."

  • "Green Street never disappoints! Casual, very good food. Been coming here for years, now much more since The Hamlet closed. Recommend potato chips as an appetizer with drinks, sliders, & /or Dianne salad (now they have it in a small size)."

  • "This is our go-to place whenever my husband and I are able to have lunch together on a weekday. Friendly service and great food! We always take a loaf of zucchini bread home with us."

  • "Even on a busy holiday, the food quality was good. Our waitstaff was conscientious. The food took a while to come out and the waiters gave us extra zucchini and garlic bread because we were clearly starving. However, the host and front door staff was peevish and disorganized. I took into account that the date was one of those holidays that no one wants to work on. But it was difficult to make our moms feel special on their day with the host calling us in early by mistake, then making us stand around in the lobby while the table we were reserved to sat at was occupied by an earlier party. When the table ahead of us wouldn't leave, the host just shrugged and said something to the effect of well, too bad, there's nothing we can do. "

  • "We made reservations for 8 the night before for Mother's Day. We had no problem gettingn our table. It was packed because of holiday, which was great cuz my boys can be boisterous. Food was delicious and it came quickly. Everything was very good. Especially the mimosa. "

  • "Food was cold, steak was overcooked and the $6 kid's pasta had twice as much pasta than my $18 shrimp linguine! We were crammed into a busy area right near the bar. My kids had a great view of the bartender making drinks! The service was as bad as the food. Never did he re-fill our drinks without us flagging him down and he never stopped to ask how things were. I did express concern about the portion of the shrimp linguine and he said it's all pre-measured so that's how it is. What was once a decent restaurant is now one that we don't see ourselves going to anymore. "

  • "Casual, pleasant, nice service in mid-Pasadena spot tucked in Shoppers Lane, at Lake Avenue & Cordova. A very late lunch so we had that "put a handle on the kitchen" kind of hunger. Started by sharing the Homemade Potato Chips with Bleu cheese appetizer. (Oh my!!! Do it. Cancelled the fries on everything else). Had several very good salads and "comfort" dishes we all nibbled on. Tastes of the Chicken Club on grilled sourdough… Deeelish! Didn't need dinner!"

  • "we were placed at the very end of a curve wall. my husband and I barely have any room to move in and out because our chairs are literally touching the back of the chairs from the table behind us. yet, we cannot push our table outward because my kids would have been seating too far out on the walkway. in my opinion, our table should not even be placed there. it was a very uncomfortable seating arrangement. will not go back to the restaurant."

  • "The best feature was the waitress. She was friendly, helpful and not intrusive. The steak was very good that night. The Diane Salad was bland but I fixed it with a little of the blue cheese sauce from the excellent potato chips appetizer. Chicken was dry. Noise level was very high. They should consider taking what looks like tile off the ceiling. Great looking lamp fixtures. Maybe consider validating parking at the adjacent garage. Prices were reasonable. All in OK. We will return unless something better pops up in Pasadena."
