Green Street RestaurantGreat food but noisy gardenerIve always loved Green Street, especially the zucchini bread. We made a reservation for Saturday morning because we knew Sunday (fathers day) would be nuts. Everything was great but someone should tell the landscapers that they should finish before the restaurant opens .
Also, the no do on patio policy is appreciated (I am a dog owner/lover) but when people can just show up and claim that their lap dog is a service dog it defeats the purpose. We always come here for dinner first and have never been unhappy. Last night we got there before 6:30 and ordered from the happy hour menu. The sliders with sweet potato fries were delicious and only $5 each. We ordered 2 hamburger sliders and 1 hot dog. I was the only one out of the 3 of us that liked the hot dogs, but the hamburger sliders were fantastic. One of our group made a selection they found difficult to eat due to the recipe, but the restaurant quickly replaced it with another item with no question. We really appreciated their willingness to go the extra mile to make our visit pleasant and delicious. We arrived at 11:00 a.m., so as to be seated and served before the lunch crowd; therefore, his behavior, or lack of it, cannot be attributed to a rush of customers. He never greeted us, never smiled, and served us in a most perfunctory manner. We had to ask for water, a refill of coffee, and tin foil in which to take home the leftover zucchini bread. This is the first time this has happened, but, if it were to happen again, I would be inclined not to give it another visit. I was impressed with their shareable appetizers. We ordered the deviled egg spread with toast and the hot nuts. So delicious!! Plenty for 2 or 3. My mom ordered the shrimp cocktail as her main dish since the appetizers were so filling. Only four shrimp, but they were HUGE and grilled. Perfect amount. I ordered the penne pasta with asparagus and spinach. Ordered the Dr. Bob's carmel rubble ice cream for dessert. Soooo good! The restaurant is an hour from my house, but I'd go back just for the ice cream!! Very reasonably priced. While a bit pricey for breakfast--most meals were about $10 or so--the food was very well-prepared and the service very good. We also enjoyed sitting outside, which was quite relaxing. People waiting for a table seem to always block the entry way.
