We had a great dinner. I had the lobster roll it was tender and delicious. The beer was great and we had the coconut cream pie in a cup for dessert. We split the dessert. Even the coffee was good. Joshua was our waiter and he was very nice. It was my husband's birthday, he had the special and was very happy. Nice place cost us about $100 with tip, not too bad for really excellent food. I will bring my parents here and my sister and her husband. I think they will all like it. Also the bar looks nice we did not go to the bar but we will try it out.

The warm lobster rolls are delicious. They are a bit expensive ($20) but worth the price and the calories. You could share one with a friend, but why would you? The lobster must come from the east coast as does the décor and the items in the museum. It is a great addition to the Carlsbad lunch selection!!

Green Dragon is unique in San Diego in their attempt to teach us something about key players in the American Revolution. Physical objects such as period clothing, home wares and weapons might make the museum more visually appealing. Most of the documents are tough to read. The food & beer was good, as was the service. I'll go back for the clam chowder.

We were at first concerned about previous reviews about the service. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch and the service was perfect. After finding out they have only been open less than a year I believe the bugs are worked out. We went again the following day since we were still in the area. Both times the good and service were great!

Sunday night, quiet. Nice walk around museum with our cocktails. Food excellent, service surprisingly slow (for the number of guests). Ordered bacon wrapped scallops as an appetizer but the waitress forgot to order it. She said she must have forgotten it and she would put the order in. They still had not arrived by the time we had our main course. As we were almost finished with our meal we told her to cancel the scallop order. No bread on the table while we were waiting. Waitress said there normally was but the kitchen was "kinda crazy" that night...surprising since there weren't too many people in the place. No candle on our table. Had to steal one from the bar below. So, the Green Dragon was actually dragging for us.

My husband and I were told about this place by our friends. We love trying out new restaurants. I'm a big fan of great atmosphere and I found it at the Green Dragon Tavern. I love the Colonial structure, the New England feel about the place. Their menu is not big but very good choices. I've had the Pork Chop before which was excellent, this time I ordered the chicken, it was a little tough but it was alright. We recommended this place to our friends who are from out of state to meet there for dinner, they liked it too. Our service was great except when the server forgot to bring a spoon for the soup. I wish they had a bigger selection on their menu. We will certainly go back, maybe try lunch next time.

We had dinner there Saturday night, the food was good, portions were big, the wait staff was attentive and helpful. It's a huge restaurant, they have a terrific museum attached/included that offers lots of Revolutionary War Era information, papers, documents, pictures and the like. I think their menu is fine, lots to choose from, seem a bit on the pricey side for what is often somewhat regular dish, but not overpriced. Appetizers were good, not great, salad, Caesar was excellent and the entrees were very good, cooked correctly and served hot. The waitress we had was great, very attentive and helpful

Went here with my wife for the first time this past Saturday. Not very busy. Hopefully because it is a new place that recently opened. The restaurant area was very classy looking. I had the Clam Chowder in the bread bowl. One of the best Clam Chowders I have had and they have free refills. For dinner I had the chicken. It was a bit dry and didn't have any flavor to it. My wife had the English pie which I never did care much for. She enjoyed it. I think that when they have been open a bit longer it will get better with time. Will go back again soon.

I took a friend there for her birthday. The best thing about the restaurant was the food was very good. There was not much ambulance. They had the fireplace burning however it was 90° outside so it was not appropriate. The tavern was very plain the chairs extremely uncomfortable. The menu was limited, but I will say the food was very good. I expected more of the museum as it was limited to documents only.

I took a friend to the Green Dragon, and while it was a good time, some things were lacking. First, the good: food was amazing, museum was neat, building was beautiful/spacious, and my friend got free cake for his birthday, complete with candle and song from our waitress. However, bar service in the tavern itself was horribly lacking (bartender just stood around with confused/spacy look on his face whole time and was super slow) and Bookstore/Gift Shop was disappointing (had great books, but no Green Dragon themed trinkets, like keychains or postcards to commemorate visit). Overall, great place though. I will be back (food was AMAZING) but it would be nice if Tavern had better/speedier service and Bookstore/Gift Shop had knick knacks too.

Appetizers and flat breads are the best. The entrees were ok, not bad , not great. Needless to say it is wonderful. Great service, great atmosphere (colonial) unlike most places in SD county. John, the Manager that evening stopped by and was interested in our meal and experience. All in all very good. Just stick with the apps and the flatbreads and salad, for now.....

Though we had reservations, we were left standing for more than 10 minutes while arrangements were being made for the larger group ahead of us--the dining room was nearly empty. We were told at the desk to wait in line. Finally the bartender told us it's open seating and we could sit anywhere we liked. Our server, Ashley, was wonderful. The food items we chose--lettuce wedge salad and margherita flat bread--were not as good as we've experienced in other restaurants. I must say the sandwich items being delivered to other tables did look delicious. The museum and bookstore were a little disappointing, we didn't spend nearly as much time browsing as we'd allowed. I think younger students studying American history will really enjoy it.

The chef suprised us with items not on the menu, the pastry chef is a genius with dessert and the wait staff was incredibly attentive. I never had an empty glass or had to ask for anything. It's like they were a step ahead of us. :) And the museum was very interesting. So rich with history, it reminds us where we started as a young country.

We were met graciously and welcomed. The menu was exciting and the food was great as was the service throughout the meal. We were there for our 25th anniversary and the event was acknowledged by everyone we dealt with, a really nice touch and in keeping with the total friendliness of the staff. The only drawback to the total enjoyment of the meal was the noise level. The dining room echo's badly and it was hard to hold a conversation in a normal voice due to the racket. We will come back and hope it will be quieter.

On this particular occasion we had dinner in the pub area as the dining room, which is more upscale did not open until 5pm. We had not had lunch so we went in at 4pm. The pub was busy as was the bar area. As the time passed the noise level was very loud and we were glad we were almost done with our dinner. The service that night was off..it's usually is much better. On our next visit for dinner we will go in the dining room. Food was excellent.

The food and service was excellent. They have an extensive wine and beer selection at very reasonable prices. We started with calamari and the clam chowder. Both were excellent but the clam chowder was the absolute best we've ever had anywhere - so yummy it's worth the trip there just for it alone. I had the Duck Confit and the Hubs had the Jidori Chicken. Both were superb.

If you like American history, it's a place to go. Would expect to see something like this on the east coast. The food was good, but the service was slow when we first arrived. Don't like waiting for menus, water, or waiters for more than 5 minutes. It took about 10 minutes before being noticed, but after that the service improved. It was not busy at the time we arrived, but I think the service would have been better if we had sat downstairs.

It took over 45 minutes for our food to get to us after we ordered. They messed up on one of our orders, so we had to wait at least another 10 minutes before the replacement arrived. Service was incredibly slow considering there were only 4-5 occupied tables. Our server was very slow on getting our drinks refilled. The food was mediocre, and not worth the 2 hour trip to the restaurant. I wouldn't recommend this place if you're crunched on time, and definitely not recommend if you're coming in during your lunch break. EEK!

This restaurant and historical theme is unique to the area. With just minor exceptions, the food was excellent; the booth seating very comfortable; the service was friendly and first class; the decor and architectural detail were outstanding. The wood flooring and hard ceiling and walls made the noise level a little irritating. The museum was a very welcome plus to round out an enjoyable evening. I will spread the word.

I was intrigued by the early North American tavern style that the restaurant website boosted, but its actual style did not capture that of an 18th century Boston tavern. The bar and dining room spaces resemble a country club. The exterior's neon lighting was a poor choice- too unauthentic. The restaurant entrance is not so obvious. I was impressed with the food (I had Jadori Chicken, asparagus soup, The Patriot, bacon wrapped scallops, S'more). Great flavors, but strong and too bold- lacking balance. Lunch and dinner menus are almost identical, unrefined, and scattered. The service was decent and the staff kind and patient. Will return to see what Hastings develops. Great theme, but lacking in definition. I want this place to succeed.

We celebrated my birthday with a little trip to New England, having only had to drive a few miles! The lobster roll and clam chowder were authentic East Coast for sure. The service was great. The Hitchcock Chair Company chairs added even more charm. Nicely appointed furnishings, including fireplaces. We will return again, without a doubt. Highly recommend!
