Diner Reviews
  • "We loved this place. Very authentic Greek food with an extensive menu. We were very pleased with our whole experience and I would definitely recommend it."

  • "Maria and Kaliopi (Popi) know how to cater to folks who want real Greek cuisine. Homemade food will appeal to those looking to duplicate the Greek experience. Lovely interior restaurant with muted tones that would replicate any upscale restaurant without the upscale prices. Floridian casual is the way to go although a quick stop for sandwiches or a nice salad is also welcomed. Could be a romantic spot as well. You won't be disappointed in the food as it is all cooked by "the Greeks"."

  • "Best flaming cheese in town. Family owned and operated."

  • "Wait staff was very friendly and helpful in explaining menu items listed in traditional Greek. The dip sampler for lunch only offers choice of one dip, however we were able to order the dinner app during the lunch hour, which allowed us to sample all 4 options- quite tasty, nice and garlicky! We each got the House salad that surprisingly did not not have any lettuce- cucumbers, tomatoes, some green peppers, feta, oil and vinegar, to which we each added lamb souvlaki (which was a little more cooked than we hoped, but still tender). The dessert tray is extremely tempting and we opted for the custard-filled phyllo pastry that was sitting in a sweet, cinnamony syrup. I'd go back."

  • "The food is always delicious as we have been several times. We also always enjoy friendly competent service. Their wine pours are generous. We always end up saying to each other...that was delicious but too expensive for what you get. They are rarely busy and believe it is mostly about the price, not the experience."

  • "Was in Orlando for work one week, then back for a long weekend the next week. I had found this restaurant on a previous trip, and had a great meal, so decided to try it again. Between the two trips, I had dinner here three times....and not one meal disappointed! The prices are very reasonable, and the quality is exceptional. The staff is well trained and very attentive....would highly suggest that you give this place a try if you like authentic greek food."

  • "Saganaki was good grilled calamari was very good. Entrees were veggie mousaka, seafood kabob, and lamb lion. My wife liked the mousaka and I loved the lamb loin. The Seafood kabob was delicious but there was only one which for the price there should be more. ( 3 shrimp and 3 scallops $26) The service was terrific and they had a nice variety of wine avail both by glass or bottle. Overall I would definitely recommend The Greek Flame."

  • "We were delighted with our first visit to Greek Flame Taverna. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our choices for appetizers, entrees and wine were delicious. We will definitely be returning - soon!"

  • "The food tasted like I was sitting in a Greek Mamma's kitchen. As an appetizer we had an assortment of 3 different homemade looking and tasting pies. The three were spinach, cheese, and ground beef. Our entres were a special of seafood stuffed grouper and pastitsio which were both delicious. Both came with a salad which was ample and had a homemade dressing on the side. We prefer a more traditional baklava so we skipped that and had a delicious Napoleon. The tea they serve is a cardamom tea. It was a Mediterranean flavor and a nice touch. "

  • "Was optimistic with the OpenTable reviews, but while the flaming cheese was delicious and the calamari fair, my scallops and shrimp with eggplant and spinach were floating in a relatively non-descript white "soup" that was marginal and soggy. The restaurant is in a strip mall about 8 minutes from the Hyatt Regency and Convention Center, but has a very nice neat and pleasant ambience. Our server was attentive and lovely."

  • "You don't have to be a Greek to love this place. Funny thing, I am a vegetarian and my husband doesn't like lamb but we love this place. The menu offers a host of options and the Flaming Cheese is amazing."

  • "A Constant problem we have encountered with this restaurant is the lack of help. We observed people seated and walking out because they do not get serviced on more that one occasion. It is a shame because this makes word of mouth advertising negative. Also, on many of our visits they seem to run out of lamb .Saturday night it was Slovakia, (by 8pm.) Makes it hard to recommend a good dish to friends.. We want this restaurant to succeed as there food is wonderful. Hire some help and buy more lamb.."

  • "We have eaten in Greek restaurants in Greek town in Chicago, this restaurant is every bit as good as the ones in Chicago. The rest is clean and has a great aroma of delicious food. We all ordered something different and all the meals came out perfectly cooked and prepared. The lamb and the Chicken was some of the best we have ever had. We can't wait to go back and try some of their other dishes. The staff is friendly and attentive and you feel like family while you are there."

  • "Terrible service after computers went down. We were left waiting & waiting with no reason or updates from staff. Never resolved.Greek salad wasn't up to par [less olives {1},feta,onions,mushy tomatoes]. Tasty lamb & still the best baklava."

  • "We completely enjoyed our night out to this restaurant. Delicious Greek food and the pastries are all home made and exceptional. Popi is such a great person!! Made the dinner out even better. We are from out of town and she remembered us from almost 2 years ago. Amazing memory!! Would recommend this restaurant to anyone that is looking for a night out for some authentic Greek food!"

  • "Greek Flame Taverna provides outstanding food with excellent service for very good prices. For starters don't miss out on the authentic feta cheese. Once you have their grilled calamari you will never want the breaded, deep-fried version ever again. Be sure to try the saganaki which is flambé'd table side with a healthy dose of "opa!" You can't miss on any of the fish, chicken or lamb dishes. Don't forget to try any of the delicious home-made desserts."

  • "Was in Orlando for business and wanted to get away from convention center area. Just a few mins drive to this place, which was nice and bright. Not a quiet, romantic place; rather a place where you can converse with a very lively feel. Service was excellent and food was very good. Reasonably priced bottles of wine, as well. Will go back when in Orlando--either for business or with my family."

  • "The Flaming Cheese is the BEST ever! This was our second time visiting and we brought guests. The service was fair and last lustered. We will however go back for the cheese and request a different wait staff."

  • "This was our first time at this restaurant and will definitely not be our last. The food was the best Greek we have had in town. In fact it was as good as the food we had in Greece. The service was prompt and courteous but never intrusive."

  • "On vacation, my wife and I have a Greek night. The Greek Flame Taverna was one of our best experiences. My wife had the sea bass special that was outstanding. I had the rack of lamb that was excellent. Our service was excellent and the evening offset a cold, rainy day in Orlando."

  • "Absolutely the BEST Saganaki ever. We even found a great wine to pair with it. We were slightly disappointed with the general menu. We wish that their were more vegetarian entrees for the wife and more beef entrees for the Man. We will definitely go back for the wine and cheese."

  • "Food was good but not great. Mousakkah was fair, layers were thick and not particularly flavorful. Gyro was good. Prices were reasonable. Service was OK."

  • "The Greek Flame Taverna truely is the best Greek in town. They don't rely on flamboyance to sell the food. It's a simple, honest, family run restaraunt that serves up extraordinary Greek cuisine. They have a great wine list, their menu covers the bases well, and they have excellent specials. We have eaten here many times and have never left disappointed. Their staff is hardworking and polite so don't forget to thank them!"

  • "Appetizers came out one at a time. The last one came out a half hour after the one before it. By the time my main course arrived I had lost my appetite (everyone else in our party had already finished). Our waitress ran out of the restaurant crying before my main was served - apparently some problem with the kitchen. The food - when it came - was good, but the poor service would keep me from going back."

  • "Wonderful Greek food. I have trouble avoiding the lamb dishes. They are terrific. The Greek and Cypriot wines are unique and very good especially the Cavina (semi-sweet red)."

  • "The food and service were outstanding. This was our first time at this restaurant and we would not hesitate to stop in again. The service was very attentive and personable and our waitress was very helpful in explaining the various items on the menu. Even though the restaurant was busy, our group of six never had to wait for any of our courses to arrive at the table. Be sure to leave room for dessert!"

  • "We went there on a family dinner on Dec-27th after a long international trip. As appetizers, we ordered grilled octopus and calamaris. The calamaris was delicious. For the main course we ordered lamb shank and fish. The fish was good. The lamb was only OK. I've eaten better lamb before. The atmosphere is pretty good. The waiter was very polite and efficient. The dessert was the best part of our dinner."
