"Not sure how I've missed this restaurant (perhaps I usually head to Catch 35 next door). It's on 2nd floor of Renaissance Hotel & has a fabulous enclosed view of the Chicago River between Dearborn & State. Downside was the decor is abused and tired: carpet is duct-taped & needs to be replaced. I greatly appreciated spacing of the tables so you are not crammed next to your nearest neighbor. No hostesses were around at noon when I arrived so had to stand a little too long. The wine list is underwhelming (Napa doesn't impress me) so I had a fun zingy Lake Shore Drive (shaken, not stirred) cocktail w/lunch of decent chicken salad. Companion's salmon very good. Baked Goat Chevre was fabulous. Good bread but butter too hard. Yet, worth a stop."

"Great Street is a great option for Loop theatre goers. The food is very good, service is excellent, and the atmosphere is pleasant and welcoming. The experience is especially enhanced by the large windows overlooking the Chicago River. While not a "hot spot," it is reliably good and comfortable and is only a few minutes walk from the theatre scene."

"My husband and I ate at Great Street Restaurant after going to a play on Saturday afternoon. Because of this, the restaurant was not busy when we got there..before the dinner crowd came. Our waitress was wonderful and attentive. I ordered the scallops and my husband ordered the short ribs. He raved over his meal. I can't rave over mine. I love scallops, but these were just OK. Maybe a bit under-done and the risotto that came with the dinner almost tasted like it came out of a box mix. We both ordered the bibb salad which, again, my husband enjoyed, but I felt there were too many types of lettuce thrown in and I didn't care for the blend. Maybe I was just having an "off" dinner day. The view was great, tho!"

"This restaurant, located in the Renaissance Hotel, has a beautiful corner location at State and Wacker, with wrap-around windows that overlook the Chicago River. The dinner menu is quite pricey, with limited selections. We like to dine here when we attend the Oriental Theater- an easy walk."
