  • "Our group of four ate at Gravy recently. Everyone was very happy with their dinners. We all had a caesar salad to start which was very good. I had the chicken parmigiana which was very flavorful with a nice piece of chicken and a good tomatoey sauce. My sister loved her spaghetti Bolognese. I've eaten here twice and both times I've felt the garlic knot rolls were too doughy. The top part is good but the bottom just doesn't seem to be cooked enough. The other two in our group had the eggplant parmigiana and were happy with it as well. Our waitress was very prompt and we did not have to wait too long for anything."

They held it for us, and I appreciate that. Seamless customer service, from seating to serving to birthday dessert for my husband. Love the food! We'll be back, for sure."

  • "We have eaten at Gravy many times in the past and most of the time it has been very good. The problem seems to be that they can't be consistently very good. My husband's lasagna was great and piping hot, but my spaghetti was fair and lukewarm. The server has waited on us on a prior visit and was attentive and quick to respond to our requests, yet on this visit she was MIA most of the meal and we had to wait for things. They have also raised their prices considerably over the past year. I don't mind paying for a great meal and service, but as I said this was not great."

  • "I can't believe I haven't tried this place before! Everything from the food to the service to the ambience was outstanding. The cheeseboard appetizer and garlic rolls were a fantastic way to start the meal. We ended up splitting the Bolognese (which is plenty of food if you order an appetizer) and it was the best Bolognese I have ever had. Even my fiancé, who doesn't care for pasta, commented on how good it was. I can't wait to eat here again."

  • "I'm solely basing my review on the food. The risotto balls were good,however, the Spaghetti Carbonara was gross, I normally would say that something was just not very good but this was honestly just horrible hands down. It tasted like they cooked spaghetti noodles and dumped greasy, cream of mushroom soup on top and then put a fried, over cooked egg on top. Bad bad bad! The family gravy was not very good and the lasagna was burnt and dry, the lasagna noodles were hard, no ricotta, no bueno. Get this! The head chef made himself a plate of food and sat down at the bar for his break. Apparently he wasn't eating the same food my boyfriend and I were eating because he looked like he was enjoying it."

  • "We went here for dinner before a show early on a Saturday night. The food was amazing. The risotto balls were delicious, the perfect amount of crunchy outside and cheesy goodness inside. The homemade pasta was fresh, cooked perfectly, and with the bolognese it was a perfect dish. The only drawback is that it is a bit tight if you are seated at the tables between the bar and booths, so it may not be the best bet for large groups."

  • "We were seated shortly after our reservation and started our meal with risotto balls. They were fantastic! We shared the apple and chicory salad. It was delicious. We split the tagliatelle pasta with bolognese. From beginning to end, the food was superb! Gravy has the best Italian food in the area. I also had the raspberry limecello martini. It was so yummy I had two. The only complaint was the very cold air that blew in every time a patron entered or exited. The front of the restaurant became very chilly at times. I had to keep taking my jacket on and off. I think this could be alleviated by an entranceway covering or heat lamp. Other than that, we had a wonderful evening and will definitely be back. We'll just visit in warmer weather :)"

The food was wonderful and the service was great. My wife had the cheese ravioli and I had the Family Gravy. Our waitress, Jordan, was most helpful with our wine selection. The deserts sounded great but we we're too full. Maybe next time."

  • "Settled in to an early dinner at Gravy last night with my GF, who due to busy schedules we're just getting around to having our Valentine's Dinner out. Arrived at 5:15 a bit late and were promptly seated by Jesse who was also our waiter. Risotto Balls and Calamari were delicious, my GF who doesn't like calamari normally liked these b/c she thought the texture wasn't rubbery at all. Entrees were delicious and the best way to describe them is that they tasted homemade. Drinks were never allowed to get to half empty, and the pricing was fantastic. Would come back and bring family or friends anytime."

Also the service was great. Waitress recommended a great red wine. This is one of my favorite restaurants downtown. I recommend it to all my friends. The Eggplant Pie is also an awesome entree."

  • "We took our son and finance to Gravy for a celebration. The food was amazing. We really like the atmosphere. If you wish to have a conversation, ask for a table downstairs. Otherwise, upstairs is more of a party (louder) atmosphere...but great place! I recommend the Rosotto appetizer, to die for. I had the to die for...Gnudi with butternut squash. I would love to see a bit more choices for vegetarians, and more salad choices. I would Would also be kind of awesome to have some dipping olive oil and spices...just because I am an addict of dipping my bread in olive oil. Delicious. Highly recommend!"

  • "Enjoyed restaurant week and finished the week with Gravy. We liked the scene as soon as we stepped inside. The noise level was slightly above a normal dining experience. But still enjoyable. The Arugula and Caesar Salads were our favorite choices on the menu and were quite delicious. Our main meal selections were Lasagna and an angel hair chicken pasta. The lasagna was to die for. Very cheesy tasting, but the sauce was amazing (and super hot to the touch). And the pasta was "ok" in my opinion. I thought it needed more taste personally. But I ate it all and still felt like sharing half a chocolate torte. We both walked away satisfied."

Every time I have been there, the overall volume of the room was so loud that having a conversation at your my own table was difficult without raising your voice and adding to the 'wall O' noise".   • "We dined with another couple for dinner. To start we had wine and shared the salami board and risotto balls, which were all outstanding and we highly recommend. For dinner, my husband and I both had the herb roasted chicken, which came with risotto and Brussels sprouts. We both agreed that it was good, but nothing to rave about. The risotto was chewy and the Brussels sprouts were a little mushy, bit it still tasted good so we finished our plates. The chocolate sea salt mousse dessert was excellent. I should also note that the service was great; our waiter answered all of our questions and was very pleasant and attentive. A very enjoyable experience overall."

  • "I discovered gravy during college and took my girlfriend (now wife) there a couple times. we went back for her birthday this year and it was just as phenomenal as always. I had the baked ziti and it was superb. melty and cheesy and fabulous. My wife had chicken parm, which is one of my favorites and between the two of us, we cleared it all. The drink special that night was some sort of cocktail and it was great, but I can't begin to remember what it was. service was great and the atmosphere is just good. Love it. can't wait to be back in Raleigh and go back!"

We have consistently had professional, attentive wait staff that have seemed authentic in their appreciation of the food and of our dining experience. It really seems that the entire team at Gravy genuinely want guests to have delightful experience. Gravy, and her sister restaurant, are my go too places for a guaranteed nice evening."

  • "Sampled three dishes on the last visit and had a great spinach salad (special for the night). Their "gravy" and house-made pasta had an excellent, fresh taste. Eggplant dish - incredible! Service was also good - knowledgeable and friendly. Prices reasonable for most dishes, but wine, beer, cocktails is too pricey - and just doesn't have to be. Mediocre (and otherwise inexpensive) red wine by the glass at $8+...reduces the desire to go back on a more frequent basis."

  • "I was geared up for a better experience at Gravy. I had the gnocci in cream sauce. The sauce was absolutely delicious but there was barely a couple of tablespoons of it. That wouldn't have been a huge problem except that the gnocci is pretty dry! The garlic knots were delicious and the buodini was worth having as an after dinner treat. On the serving side I was somewhat disappointed in that our wine glasses were whisked away before they were empty (that happened twice) and our entrees arrived before we'd even come close to finishing our salads. There were only three of us so it wasn't as if we had multiple slow eaters. All in all, it was just decent. I don't know that I'd be super excited to return."
