  • "Admittedly, I've never been to Gravy for dinner, so I don't know how that menu is. However, my wife and our friends were quite underwhelmed by their brunch. I think the biggest disappointment was the lack of seasoning or depth of flavor in the dishes we tried. The omelet seemed thrown together with little thought or care, and the cheesy polenta I ordered on the side was simply bland. My wife's fried chicken sandwich was only marginally better, though she had to cut off the edges of the breading because they were burnt. Perhaps the biggest insult of all was the 45-minute wait for our food when the restaurant was not even half full, which is why we didn't bother sending the food back. To their credit, the donuts were fairly tasty."

The food is delicious, the wait staff is always friendly and the rustic feel with the brick wall and overall look is quite soothing. I definitely suggest this place, the price is very affordable for an all out good time. Huzzah!"

  • "The food was good but not great. This restaurant rated very high on Trip Advisor so we expected something better than it was. The restaurant is small so reservations recommended. Parking on the street is tough, there is a parking deck across the street. The drinks were good and the service was also good. We were just somewhat disappointed in the food, we had the dish called Family Gravy, sausage and meatball small in size and sausage that is made in house was dry and lacked flavor. We have had much better Italian food elsewhere."

  • "Having moved to Raleigh from the NJ/NY area it's been painful finding excellent Italian food. We've only heard rave reviews about Gravy and how it's a must to go there. While the food was okay, it wasn't impressive, the food lacked seasoning, and even my chicken parm was slightly overcooked and was lacking the sauce and cheese. If your truly looking for an excellent Italian place you should check out Bella Monica the owners are from the Brooklyn NY area and they have the best Italian food in this area, a bonus their entire staff are certified Gluten/Celiac knowledgable and have a large GF menu."

  • "While on vacation in Raleigh a group of us went to Bolt and had a phenomenal experience! The food was out of this world, two of us had filets and the others had the rockfish special and loved both of them. The filet was the best steak I have ever eaten. The servers were super friendly and the venue was super modern and warm. The drinks were delicious as well. I will definitely go back the next time we visit and HIGHLY recommend Bolt!!!"

But it always comes down to the sauce (for me) - just. But too sweet. Would have liked a bit more garlic. Otherwise my chicken parm was great along with lasagna and eggplant.   • "We decided to dine at Gravy for my daughter's 14th birthday. We were seated in the basement which was quaint and a very cool atmosphere. Our daughter and two others in our group are vegetarian and there were plenty of choices for them. Overall, the food was amazing. The only negative thing that we experienced was that the server forgot to bring my husband the soup he ordered and it was too late for him to get in because the entrees arrived. Other than that, it was a great way to spend her birthday!!"

  • "The food was awesome----must have the donuts for dessert. Hubby had Huevos Jesus and it was different, but very, very good! I had the grilled chicken sandwich that I loved! We were there for Sunday Brunch and as the restaurant started to fill up, there was only 1 waitress which made the service less than top notch, although she was a delight and very helpful w/menu choices. We will go back!!!"

  • "I've been going to Gravy for the last three to four years...as it's overall my favorite restaurant in the triangle. I'm a transplant Northerner, and the food hearkens back to a more NY/New England style Italian. For what you pay for the food, can't get any better in the RDU/Chapel Hill area. Portion sizes are great, as any true Italian restaurant should serve. The house marinara, their "Gravy" is delectable. Reminds me of a hometown gem (Burlington VT) called Bove's...which has made an ever increasing enterprise in bottling their gourmet sauces. In addition, hands down best thing on the menu is the Gnocchi....served in a truffle, leek cream sauce. It will win anyone over. Only gripe is drink portions tend to be small..stay away $$"

  • "My son graduated from middle school and we said we would take him out eat wherever he chose. His only stipulation was really good Italian food. I researched on line some Italian restaurants in Raleigh and decided on Gravy. I have to say I mostly choose this restaurant because my Aunt in NY always called her Italian red sauce "Gravy" so I was thinking that this might be the "real thing"....We had a great evening, terrific food, the sauce was authentic "gravy" no bitterness to it like some other places I've tried...great wait staff, awesome garlic bread...all and all a wonderful experience. My husband even commented that he thought we should go back on one of our "date nights"."

  • "This seemed like a small restaurant but it had a very large off the street outdoor patio for dinning in warmer weather. It is open late in the downtown lively area. The food was creative and good but simply served. The waitstaff was friendly and accommodating. The only thing to watch out for is the loud noise level, especially when filled with customers. I feel noise levels like this should not be allowed because I am afraid such exposure could do long term damage to your hearing. It also makes it hard to converse with your fellow diners."

We stayed in Raleigh, NC to be with our daughter for the 70.3 Ironman Competition. We needed to change our reservations and the restaurant staff were only too happy to accommodate.   • "My wife &I frequent this downtown treasure because it's always good & always a bit different than the last visit with the exception of service which is always good. We shared the meat $ cheese board, sampled 2 red wine choices before making our selection, both ordered chicken parmigiana which we never do, but we were just in the mood. My wife had plenty to take home for lunch the next day. We then shared the Baldino, a tasty, unique dessert, which is very good. My only complaint is that Gravy seasonally removes their cannolis from the dessert menu. This is the one thing I'd like to know I can get every time I visit, first because they are outstanding and second because cannolis are to Italian food what hot dogs are to baseball games!"
