A natural terracotta tile wall highlights our downstairs dining and wine bar alongside bar height tables and comfortable corner booths. Upstairs affords a casual dining experience in a relaxed setting of beautiful walnut table banquettes, and the community table which seats up to 14, a great place for small groups or to just sit and make new acquaintances.

    Hosting a party or event? Upstairs is available for private parties with seating up to fifty for dinner, and eighty for cocktail receptions.

  • Parking Details: There is limited street parking on Emerson. Public parking lots located on Emerson St. across from the restaurant, and another public parking lot behind the restaurant off High Street with a walkway to Emerson. There is also a public parking structure with entrances on High and Alma between Hamilton and University and a second public parking garage under City Hall at Hamilton and Ramona.

  • "Gravity Bistro is a nice enough restaurant. Kind of stylish, very pleasant, decent food of its type (kind of trendy). Full of good-looking folks on a Thursday night. Energetic. Etc. What I'm having a little trouble with is that it really isn't much of a wine bar. Most of the people at the bar were drinking cocktails. Which looked nice. There is wine there, it's just a bit of an afterthought, and the short wine list doesn't have very many interesting things on it, and, well, we're in California so really good wine is not that hard to find. So I'm a little mystified as to why Gravity is marketing itself as a wine bar. It's a perfectly fine stylish restaurant with a somewhat misleading name."

All entrees were not enough for our table. one person had to send back the rabbit because it was inedible and too salty. The waiter was nice enough to try it and agreed with us. I think they need to re-taste their menu because I wouldnt go back to eat there."

  • "We met some friends for dinner and opted to dine upstairs to we could hear each other talk. Although downstairs wasn't too bad but we just needed to listen as we were meeting with our photographer for our wedding. Our server was excellent and made great cheese and meat reccos. Overall it was a great experience for our first time there. Definitely going back to eat and experience the downstairs area!"

  • "I tried this based upon the reviews listed in Open Table. We started with wine and appetizers - neither impressive. The selection was narrow and overpriced. As for the appetizers, the meatballs were tasty but the bruschetta was average. As for the main course, I did like the bucatini - good flavor and spice. My wife chose the risoto - not much flavor and she felt there could've been so much more potential. As for the service, it was disappointing to hear "snarky" comments made TO other guests ABOUT previous guests. the table next to us chose the wine flight to share - making derogatory comments about other guests as a means for making recommendations (or criticism..) was unbecoming."

  • "I've been to Gravity multiple times for either drinks, dinner or dinner and drinks. Each time has been a great experience with great service. However, this last time was disappointing and a cause for not going back. The service has truly declined, and for a $200 dinner - we truly deserved better. Between each course, we were waiting for approximately 30 minutes. So from oysters to cheese, there was a 30 minute wait. When we paid, we had asked him to split the bill between two credit cards, and he split the bill and just ran one card twice and didn't catch it.What should have been a fun dinner catching up with an old friend turned into a painful 3 hour dinner where we kept waiting for food and me apologizing for picking this restaurant."

  • "Went for an impromptu birthday party with party of 7. Great food, great service. One star off for service because we had to wait for 10 minutes for a simple order of a particular wine. Turned out they were out. On a positive note, the wines suggested by the waiter (or the sommelier that consulted the waiter) were excellent - and they were not the most expensive ones on the list (which is what usually happens when you ask your waiter to surprise you). Noise level was tolerable - a middle ground between a sports bar and a quiet restaurant. Music is noticeable but not loud."

  • "Following other reviews, my friend and I ordered a cheese plate to start. It was outstanding. They paired each cheese with a delicious compliment (for example, goat cheese with caramelized onions). For the entree, I ordered the scallops and my friend ordered the burger. Both were very tasty, as was all the food the restaurant served us. I loved the lighting, spacing and decor. I appreciated that the lighting created ambience, but was not so dim that you could not see the other person or your food; their windows also provided for beautiful natural light. The second floor had a cool lofted roof with wooden beams. These details seem minute, but put together, it was a beautiful dining experience!"

  • "Three of us ordered several appetizers before the food arrived, all were very good; the cheese plate (w/ five kinds of cheese), house marinated olives, and fritto misto (calamari & shrimp). The cheese plate was excellent! I ordered the risotto with cherry tomato/snap peas/white corn/pecorino and it was very tasty and quite filling. Others ordered roasted meatballs and French onion soup, and Bucatini pasta. Feedback was the food was excellent. The wine list was diverse w/a nice selection of international wines. We settled on Malbec (Lamadrid Reserva Malbec, Agrelo - Mendoza (2011) followed by Chateau Soucherie Anjou - appellation anjou rouge controlee (2008). Both were very nice and very drinkable with the food we had ordered. "

  • "In town for business and a local colleague recommended this place for dinner. Open Table reservation made online without a hitch at the time requested...I was quite surprised when we got to Gravity because it was super busy with a waiting line and lively bar population...but we were escorted right upstairs to our table. Seating was pretty cozy/tight leading to moderate noise level (translation...hearing the conversations all around us), but overall the ambiance was great. Menu selection was quite diverse, and wine selection was pretty good. Service was OUTSTANDING! This is a nice dining option for small party business dinners (not involving business discussions) or romantic getaways...I wouldn't recommend small children, however."

In addition to alley of fine dinning menu, there are make-your-own charcuterie or cheese plate, large or small. 4 different flights offered for fun seekers. Very much accessible. You will feel civilized."

  • "Not sure if it was an off night and a really inattentive waiter whom we needed to ask several times that we were ready to order, or needed the bread we requested several times - but seemed like the service had declined. I like the vibe and typically the food is very good. My dish needed salt, and know and really like their sister restaurants a lot, so was disappointed with our night out here. Hope they'll try to be more attentive as it is a nice spot."

  • "I had asked for a special occasion table, which I thought would make this date more congenial to conversation, but found that the whole place is very loud. We got a table near the bar, I forgot to ask if this was the requested table, but in any case; the whole restaurant seems very noisy and it only got worse. Low ceilings around the bar don't help matters at all."

I was dining with my wife and we're both used to eat tiny portions and usually skip the appetizer and dessert. However, after eating the entree we both felt that the portions were quite small indeed but very delicious and tasty. We did enjoy the wine list though and overall very nice experience."

Server or kitchen totally forgot about a bruschetta trio appetizer that never came out - but my BF and I forgot about it too until after we were already home (probably due to the several wine flights we drank). Would give 3.5 stars if I could - sommelier made up for totally forgotten app and slow to come out food. Waiter was also apologetic - place was packed. Pretty sure tables on either side of us turned twice."

  • "Wanted to try this place for a long time. Love their sister restaurants, Scratch, Peninsula Creamery and Resposado. Menu has some nice selections. I ordered the duck confit, and it was cooked nicely. The accompanying kale and potatoes were good. Entire thing was over salted, which was such a bummer. My friends had the short-ribs, and he said it was really good, but his portion of meat was very small. My other friend ordered the mussels, shrimp, pasta dish. The weird thing was the mussels, they were falling apart, and not staying together when she tried to pull them out of the shell, they just disintegrated. Mussels should pull off the shell fat and plump. These were small and thready. Food=decent, Service = Poor, inexperienced waiter."

  • "I've been to this restaurant several times and my past experiences is what brings me back. However, this particular night was just not up to par. We were seated in the middle of the upstairs dining room which was uncomfortable for one person in our party. And our server, oh I truly believe this was his first night or at least I hope so. He seemed really nervous, didn't seem familiar with the specials & we kept having to ask him to remove finished dishes from our table. He wasn't as attentive as I've known their servers to be & it just made for an awkward evening. The food was SPECTACULAR though so I'm sure I'll return, but this particular evening wasn't my best experience."

  • "My fellow diners and I liked the food at Gravity but the service needs improvement. The servers were attentive enough but the delivery was off. We ordered oysters 10 minutes before we ordered dinner but the servers came out with the salads before we had even seen an oyster. We had them hold the salads and bring the oysters but only half of that order came out and we had to correct them again. When the entrees arrived only 4 of 5 made it to the table, the risotto was missing in action for anther 7-10 minutes. We were dining with good friends and did not let the service keep us from enjoying the evening, we even laughed a bit because waiter had announced, as we browsed the menu, "everything is good here except the service!" Prophetic."

Bar area was also noisy, and we realized after we walked outside that we had been shouting all evening.   • "My wife and I visited the restaurant Friday evening for diinner and drinks, and I'd give this a slightly above average score. I've given ta "recommend" purely on the basis that there was nothing offensive about the place. Pick this bar if you want a decent glass of wine and some food on the average-good scale. The dessert was our highlight, the main courses were decent and the starter was quite poor. At $140 for two inc. tip, not too expensive, but the wine was more than 1/3 of the bill. The bar has a good selection of wine, but it priced accordingly. The decor/ambiance is fitting for the wine/bistro experience. If you want a quiet romantic meal, then ask for seating upstairs. We'd return for the wine..... perhaps not to eat."

  • "We see the potential and would like to see improvement in the upcoming future. 1) Calamari - too oily but seasoning was good 2) Pasta with Ragu sauce - ragu sauce tasted very good. pasta was over cooked thus too soft. Cook the pasta in lesser time and this will be a great dish 3) Duck confit - seasoning was solid. Duck leg needs to be really pan-seared to make it crispy. Dont be afraid to heat up the pan to make this dish fantastic 4) Burger - need to sear it outside. It was under cook and under seasoning a bit 5) Wine choice is wide. Cost is reasonable. Guilliams -Cab, Spring Mountain. '06 was good 6) Service needs improvement. Our waiter was not familiar with the menu, food portion, food preparation & wine list 7) Desert is not good"
