  • "My friend and I both choose entree salads from the lunch men. I complimented mine with a glass of wine. The salads were fresh and enticing. The service was friendly and professional. I loved the backlit menus. Our bills were similar to what you would expect at a mid range restaurant but the atmosphere was so much nicer. I certainly recommend this restaurant for a girl friend luncheon or a night out. "

  • "We had a great server who rattled off the soup, risotto, and fish of the day with ease. Food was awesome as usual!"

  • "We had made a reservation for happy hour not knowing that it's bar only seating. We probably would have also ordered food if we'd been sat at one of the many open tables. I think the "bar only" happy hour model actually hurts them during slow hours, but the bar tender was nice. Also, the manager said they're not even ordering Oberon this season. Poor choices."

  • "We ordered prosecco and were not offered the 5 oz versus 8 oz and simply were given the 8oz. Felt taken advantage of after I realized and it was more than mom could drink. Otherwise food good. Got blue crab crostini a and misti appetizer Waiter's demeanor somewhat surly.....but hey"

  • "I had the sole with prettiest and my wife had tuna. The tuna was over cooked and she sent it back. The second one was perfect and tasty. The orzetti was tepid and tasteless. It was like it had sat in the water too long or had been reheated. The sole was mushy and overlooked. Server was very friendly."

  • "My husband and adult son came to dinner with me for a birthday dinner. We arrived early and sat at the bar and had a very friendly bartender who served up some great drinks. We were glad we made it to your happy hour. We had made reservations but were seated back near a serving area, which was very awkward and noisey. It was where the servers came to get the silverware, glasses etc. We asked to be changed and were seated at a much better location. Other than that it was a nice experience."

  • "It had been about a year since we last viisted Gratzi. We were brought in by an email special that caught my attention. Overall the dinner was good. I ordered the Sol special which was well proportioned and excellent. My wife ordered the pasta fettecini pomadorro with chicken. Both meal were served at excellent temperature which is always a sign we look for in a quality restaurant. The house salad was excellent, although the bread from zingermann's did not taste fresh in our opinion. We'd recommend Gratzi go back to serving a more traditional italian bread we recall them serving in the past -- hard to think the bread would be the biggest disappointment of the evening, but it was!"

  • "More than twenty years of special occaisions celebrated at the tables in Gratzi! We've never been diappointed. The service is always very good and the food speaks for itself as delicious and the right portion sizes. Last Sunday was no exception all the way around. As busy at Gratzi gets you never feel rushed. There is a great energy about the place and we always feel special. Thanks for years of great dining experiences!"

  • "My wife and I wanted to find a place that would work as our special occasion dinner setting. We definitely found it in Gratzi. The food was amazing, the tablets each customer receives describes all of the meals (complete with pictures), all of the suggestions from our waitress were spot-on, and it never hurts when Desmond Howard sits a table away from one trying to find a great place worth trying. Highly recommended."

  • "My family and I try and stop in Ann Arbor when we are traveling to the Airport for a meal just to try out a new place. I was getting ready for a Ironman Triathlon so I wanted Pasta. I had checked the reviews and there were both good and bad but we decided to give it a try since we liked the location. We were greeted promptly and take directly to our seats. The iPad style menu with the picture of the dished was a cool addition. The Calamari was probably the best I have ever had. There were 4 of us dining and everyone tried something different so we could share. The waitress was very helpful in selection process, when it came time for dessert we didn't have room the meals were very good and filling. WE WILL BE BACK!!!"

  • "The food & service are dependably good. I would like to have more vegetables, less pasta & butter. Offer leaner meals for those who are "trying". I think most meals are over-priced, but that may be most places Downtown. I always have a very nice time there and find the staff excellent. Great drinks."

  • "You can depend on great food cooked to perfection! Great place to celebrate a special event - especially birthdays! It is a quieter setting if you sit upstairs which we enjoy, especially if you get a window view of Main Street. You must try the Buratta appetizer - very delish!"

  • "Feels as though you are in the lobby of a grand old building in Venice or Rome: two stories plus high with balconies. Great old bar! Atmosphere warm and inviting. Service wonderful. Menu is on tablets with lots of detail. I am vegetarian and chef made risotto special so that it was vegetarian. Yummy! Beet and radicchio blood orange salad could have been balanced better if beet slices were thicker and the citrus in larger wedges with less radicchio. They may have been trying to fill the plate. Would have been better to have a smaller salad if ingredients not readily available. My dining companions enjoyed their entrees. The salmon entree with pasta was mixed - salmon was better than the pasta. We did not have dessert but cappuccino was good."

  • "This place is nicely decorated and the staff is very service oriented. The amazing thing is that the menus are on tablets like and iPad. You can see a photo of every menu item and a description of item contents. The wine list, dessert and drink menus are all available at your finger tips. The food is Northern Italian and the portions are offered in two versions for family style dining. The taste is, well, what can you say about Northern Italian - delicioso!"

  • "I always enjoy coming to Gratzi. It is the only one of the Main Street franchise that I frequent. The food is always good, the service is always top notch, and the place is cozy and perfect for a romantic date. You can also order smaller portions for those of us who eat a normal amount of food. Good wine list and affordable, overall."

  • "We were a group of 7 who chose Gratzi for its fine food (including gluten-free), service and ambience. Seating in the round was ideal for our purpose of talking as a group, but the noise level was both physically jarring and limited conversation to one-on-one talking at top volume. If I was talking to the person on my left, I had to repeat myself to the person on my right. Talking across the table was impossible. By the end of the evening, I was hoarse from shouting. The ambience had the unfortunate effect of diminishing my pleasure in the dishes that the chefs and servers worked so hard to present. I will gladly return to Gratzi for intimate dinners, but not in a group."

  • "First off, get ride of the tablets. Give me an old fashion menu any day. To see a description of the meal you have to click on each menu item. Then, altho our waiter was very attentive, we endured what felt like a 10 minute tutorial on how to use the tablet I've always loved Gratzi's but haven't been in a while. Got my favorite dish, the salmon. When it came it was not a nice thick piece as I remember getting in the past. It was a thin fillet, definitely cooked through, in fact given the slightly overcooked texture and the look of the sauce I think my meal had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while. It just wasn't worth the cost either. Four people, each one glass of wine, each an entree and a shared appetizer was $150.00."

  • "another "fancy" restaurant in ann arbor that doesn't deliver. there's nothing wrong with the food, it's just nothing special. for all the fancy looking decor, you'd expect the food to be better. the vegetable misti appetizer was bland and uninspired and the angel hair pasta with scallops was one note. the scallops were cooked very well, and that was great, but the pasta w/ spinach and leeks was a bit boring. the ambience is great, so it's nice for a date or whatever, but don't go there expecting a great meal as you will be disappointed."

  • "Our server appeared to be new, as her timing and efficiency was not to the usual Gratzi standard. We were upstairs, which is probably more of a challenge from a service point of view. We almost received our entrees before our soup/salad, and the sauce for my wife's pasta was not correct (wanted mix of red/pesto). Gratzi realized their mistakes and made up for it by giving us a free dessert, which was really tasty!"

  • "We were very late for our reso due to traffic. I thought we were going to have to miss dinner to make it to the concert on time. We got seated immediately and "Trek" paid close attention, got us our 3 course and got us through in time to make our show. Food was hot and appetizing and delicious! Going to come back when I have time to slow down to really enjoy more of the menu."

  • "I only go to Gratzi for special occasions as it's a little pricey for normal dinners. The food was really good as always. I had two children with me, and while Gratzi does not have a children's menu, they offered them a cheese pizza or a "build your own" pasta."

  • "Good food. We had very good service ... friendly and intuitive waitress (had a good sense of our needs). But out table was at a very busy location toward the back of the restaurant (stairs, bathrooms, kitchen) ... not a particularly nice area to eat. Suggest requesting a table at a different location. The menus are on tablets now, which was fine for us ... might be awkward for non-techies. Menu listings are in Italian, which is also fine, but would be nice if it also showed the translation into English without having to select each menu item separately. We've eaten at Gratzi a number of times since it's opening ... it's reliable, but doesn't quite make it to my top go-to A2 restaurant list."

  • "Went to Gratzi to celebrate my birthday and was not disappointed. As usual the service was attentive, the food superb and the atmosphere comfortable. Had one of their new seafood entree specials- lemon sole. It was delightful. Hope to return in the not too distant future."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our girl's night out last Saturday, with a lot of memorable food choices. First, we all loved the iPad menus! So easy to see, love the pics too! We all had different entrees like lamb, a shrimp pasta dish, and the seafood special. From appetizers, to dessert, we were pleasantly satiated! Service was perfect too!"

  • "If you are looking for authentic Italian food this is not it . The menu is very nice with full color pictures and descriptions of every dish which are all beautifully presented however the taste is bland and most of the dishes lacked basic seasoning such as salt, garlic , basil and oregano . The bread was more of a cake like consistency and not warm . The atmosphere is really cozy and very pretty so if you just want drinks this is a good place to go . Service was awesome. Our waitress was very attentive and provided for all our needs."

  • "Our experience at Gratzi was nothing short of excellent. From the ambiance, the wait staff, the menu selection and the food. It was the first time I had encountered IPad menus, but they made it a little more interesting. The restaurant was moderately busy, but still felt very intimate. The staff were great and went out of their way to make us feel special: the handwritten message, in chocolate, on our desert plate was an especially nice touch. It's been a while since we were there last, but we plan to frequent Gratzi a lot more often."

  • "Exceptional service, palate pleasing food, can't wait to visit this establishment again. Considering the cuisine, this establishment could very well charge a lot more."

  • "So it wasn't fantastic or an awesome experience -- and the food was pretty generic for someone who has worked in the industry. The menu has a wide array of items which should suite most peoples tastes. The service came with some pretty tthorough although inaccurate descriptions of the menu items to include rough translations of the Italian menu items. That being said the name of the restaurant is thank you in English... What were they thinking. Its like naming an american restaurant baseball because it sounds american. I digress; nothing really special kind of like a P.F. changs for people who don't know anything about Italian food."

  • "Though I had a great time with my date and the food was amazing, I felt very uncomfortable among the workers. I am an African American male and I dress in urban clothing. A male waiter, and the male greeter, looked at me as if I was about to rob the place or something. They made me feel like I was in the wrong place, like I had no right to be there. As our date went on, I could continuously see male waiters looking at me through a mirror near our table and it made me really uncomfortable. Our waitress was delightful, I had a special request for a gift to be brought out and she executed it perfectly, so I'm grateful for that. Other the issue of feeling like I was being judged, it was a perfect evening."

  • "Having lived in the Ann Arbor area for a long time, I've visited Gratzi a few times a year for many years. The Gratzi of today is missing some of the spark from the Gratzi of a decade ago. Nit picks are: Despite a reservation, we did not get seated until 15 minutes after our time. The server did not speak of any specials even though the menu referred that there were some available. Wine list is great Food was okay - heavy sauces on the scallopine and marsala - not enough sauce on the pizza. Caesar salad was good, as was the bread. New tablet style digital menus take a few minutes to get used to and may result in longer dining experience. It's nice to see photos of dishes, however."

  • "Like all Main Street Ventures Gratzi is a very professionally run restaurant. It has been an Ann Arbor staple since he beginning of time or so it seems. The menu offers a pretty wide choice of items and we found some interesting items. There was a nice wine list with good prices. Prices in general were somewhat upscale but not at all crazy. I was impressed with the service; for example, the waiter was truly knowledgeable about wine. The staff did not hover or bow and scrape but they got the food to us in a timely manner in the order we requested. We will definitely be back in the next few months."

  • "I am sorry but I do not like the tablet menus. First of all, I feel I need to wash my hands after handling it, even if it is true that they are disinfected between uses (something which I sincerely doubt!). Also, you would think these are up- to-date but the server still has to tell you the specials, soup of the day, etc. Being electronic, I would think that they always have the latest info. That aside, I think this restuarant is getting complacent. The foccaia bread is fair; the previous bread was much better. The entrees are also fair, nothing updated for a long, long time. Lastly, the service was very rote and cold. Main Street Ventures has gone down hill!"

  • "Very slow service. Long wait for waitress, no bread served to our table, drinks took forever. etc. One of our guests was served the wrong dish and instead of taking the dish away and bringing the correct one our waitress, after we were half way thru our meal, brought out the originally ordered dish and sets it next to the first dish, awkward! Our guest wasn't about to eat two meals in one sitting. And yet we were charged for the incorrect dish on our bill. We spoke up and the charge was reversed. The food was just ok and 3 of the 6 of us had upset tummies that night, one pretty severe. Can't say for sure it was the food but strangely enough all 3 had ordered the same dish. I don't think we will return to Gratzi any time soon :("

  • "Have been to Gratzi several times and each time is excellent. Menus are now on tablets for easy navigation and pictures. Food was presented nicely and flavors were fantastic. The bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer was very flavorful and perfectly cooked. Tables are snug but never felt 'too close'. Highly recommended."
