A word from Grasso's
Celebrating her 18th year in Cold Spring Harbor, Gail Grasso and Exec. Chef Tony Canales will lead you in to yet another year of phenomenal food, jazz and just an overall feeling of “WOW”. Deemed “restless” in the past by Newsday, Gail has once again ventured into changing the décor of the restaurant. The addition of a dance floor in the jazz room gives Grasso’s, now more than ever, that real Manhattan feel. The food and service is incredible and if you’ve never been there before you will leave feeling as though you’ve been coming here forever. Grasso’s restaurant is a neighborhood gathering place where you almost always stand the chance of running into someone you know. Whether you’re a local or not, when you dine at Grasso’s you truly feel as though you have walked into Gail’s home. It’s been called the “Cheers” of Cold Spring Harbor. Grasso’s also offers a bar menu Sun-Fri evenings and an Al la Carte Sunday Jazz Brunch. Menus, Event and Music schedules are available on the website.Continued

  • "My first visit to this restaurant was very enjoyable. Service was great and food tasted amazing. We had the jumbo shrimp and filet mignon, both were served perfectly. In addition to the food, live music being played provided a cool and relaxing atmosphere. Very busy Saturday evening crowd did not prevent staff from doing a wonderful job. Check this place out and you won't be let down."

  • "We enjoy the food. The service is great. We enjoy listening to the music while we eat. Unfortunately, we found the restaurant noisier than usual."

  • "Our server Ryan was really great! He explained the menu well and was very attentive without being invasive. Our dishes were timed well ( he even asked if we were ready for the next course or if we wanted to sip our wine a bit) Our table was de- crumbed between courses. The new Sunday throwback menu is great with lots of choices. We will be back soon!"

  • "We had the pleasure of having brunch there this past weekend. The service was wonderful, the food fantastic and the jazz music was the perfect touch to a great meal. The staff was attentive but not overwhelming. We were able to leisurely enjoy our meal over the course of three hours without every feeling like we were being rushed. I'm already looking forward to having brunch there again!"

  • ""I loved the combination of great food, sophisticated music, and the cozy/ intimate ambiance. Our party had the Mediterranean branzino, Monk fish special, sauteed scallops, and the steak with blue cheese sauce. Each dish was pleasing to the eye and palate. We led off with fresh oysters and the gratis humus & flat bread appetizer. We finished up with divine tiramisu and espresso. The wine (ordered by the glass) was good, yet affordable; the service prompt and professional. Best of all, we were seated in the same room as the venue, yet we could still talk and hear each other, while seeing the musicians up close and personal! I would highly recommend this for a special nite out, and let the music venue determine which room to sit in."

  • "2 tired music teachers went to relax at Grasso's after the NYSSMA festival. There was a terrific jazz band performing, and the food was A+! I had the seafood risotto which was so delicious. My friend and I shared the beet salad, which was split in half in the kitchen for us! After a couple glasses of wine we were so relaxed. I even got a special rendition of "Happy Birthday" from the singer! I'd been there before, and was not disapointed! Good food, good music, good times!"

  • "My boyfriend and I used to go to Grasso's quite a bit during the week. Unfortunately, our schedules do not allow us to venture there so much. This past saturday we made reservations to meet another couple and we had a great time. Our waiter was extremely attentive and informative of the dishes. Was able to readily recommend his choice of dishes and intricately describe the others. We all went with his suggestions as he was on mark. This was actually the second time after 8pm that we had gone that the fish was no longer available.I do wish they prepared a few more fish dishes to choose from. would also love to see a few more pasta dishes. Other than that it was a lovely evening. Drinks and desserts were well done as well. Thank you!"

  • "The duck was outstanding as usual. The only speed bump was the fish had too many bones in it when it was supposed to be filet. However, they made up for it by giving us free desserts. That is how you keep a customer!"

  • "Inviting neighborhood gem with great live jazz, warm and friendly service and consistently good cuisine. Nice variety on the menu. Great place to catch up with friends over a great meal and bottle of wine - I feel like I'm in my living room listening to great music and someone else is doing all the work!"

  • "Grasso's is one of my favorite restaurants, and it probably always will be, BUT this time I was disappointed in the size of the Portobello Mushroom appetizer...although it tasted great -- and the service. The waiter was slow and we had to ask another waiter for my food which came much later than my companion's did. In fact the "other" waiter was delightful and very helpful...the young man who took our orders was not as capable. Although the restaurant was busy, there were empty tables and noone waiting as far as I could see which might have otherwise explained things. I was there to hear the band; the piano player is a friend."

  • "Grasso's was good but not great which disappointed us since our expectations were high from these reviews. We had seafood dishes which were ok but rather bland due to a lack of seasoning. The service was uneven in that the hostess was very hospitable, but the waitress was largely absent and then there was difficulty getting attention to receive our coats. The menu and wine list were small. It's more a neighborhood gem as opposed to a special occassion place unless the addition of live jazz for you makes it a special occassion. Jazz was great but it will kill any convo since it's a small place. So, be warned. In the end, Grasso's is likely the liveliest nightlife in a rather sleepy town. It's good but not sure we'd return."

  • "It was our wedding anniversary so we wanted something a little different and Grassos did not disappoint!!! Food was excellent and staff couldn't have been more accommodating. We dined on Shrove Tuesday evening so we enjoyed a lively four piece jazz band and a very festive New Orleans Mardi Gras atmosphere.. We will return!"

  • "This is the closest thing we'll ever get to the Café Carlyle. Very good food, outstanding service, and that great background sound of live jazz. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for....."

  • "Had a late dinner on Valentine's Day. Expected it to be crowded which is was. There is not much room to wait and we were packed a bit tight. We waited almost 30mins past our reservation time. Nicely decorated. Live music including a woman singing who was very good. Nice atmosphere. Sat in the dining room. Tables not on top of each other so you could talk without hearing the table next to you. Service was good for a busy night. The food was good, not great. Prepared nicely and cooked well. Example was the Duck I had. Overall cooked perfect, but the sauce was too sweet and overpowering. Overall I thought it was a bit expensive but still very good for a romantic dinner or special occasion."

  • "Our experience at this place was mixed at best. After 10 minute wait, we were escorted to small table that was at center of back and forth traffic for servers, Small table was also rocking, which, to be fair, was fixed by our server. Our service was attentive, but food was not so much. My Duck was over-cooked and rather tasteless as were vegetables. My wife's chicken dish was also ordinary. Our appetizer of oysters was great, but how hard is it to do oysters right? Live music of jazz trio and vocalist was a nice addition which made ambience better. My suggestion is they need to pay much more attention to quality of the food they serve, especially since the prices are significantly high."

  • "A totally relaxed Sunday brunch with another couple we needed to catch up with. Live music was great & not overpowering. We all had a different dish, which all enjoyed. Service was excellent, we sat, talked for some time and we weren't rushed out. I would highly recommend. Great food, good music & reasonably priced. Desert - Bread pudding's a winner!!"

  • "I've always loved Grassos for the jazz music, the overall ambience and the excellent friendly and warm service. However, the food has been inconsistent in the past and this last time was very disappointing. From the so so oysters to the overcooked and tasteless pasta to the veal chop, branzzino, vegetables and the desserts.... everything was just bland and mediocre. At over $150 per couple (without wine ) I cannot express how disappointed we all were. Why hadn't we been to Grassos in over a year? We remember now. We will confine our jazz and fine food adventures to NYC from now on."

  • "I loved how intimate the restaurant was. You did not feel like another table was on top of you at all. The food was absolutely delicious especially their homemade Tiramisu (it melts into your mouth) and their scallops for an appetizer was extremely small but had such wonderful flavor and was not over or undercooked. Everything was cooked to perfection. After a certain time, probably around 8 pm they had a jazz group perform which was nice for a change. I truly enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant and our server made this such a pleasant experience."

  • "So we were 4 of maybe 10 patrons. The food was great as was the service. My son and his girlfriend had the scallop appetizer and steaks for main course. Both were excellent . My husband and I had 2 different salads, he had chicken ( which he enjoyed) I had pasta both were tasty but the kids clearly " won" best meal. This restaurant is truly a gem...need to return more often"

  • "We had a wonderful dining experience at Grasso's for Sunday brunch. The wait staff could not have been more helpful, particularly with adapting the menu to the food allergies of one of the guests. The service in itself was spot on and the food was delicious. And, of course, the live music was just icing on the cake. Grasso's is a fabulous place to go for great food, attentive service and beautiful music."

  • "The servers are cheery and knowledgeable, the food is delicious, and the jazz is great to listen too. The restaurant does get a bit noisy but that is our biggest complaint. We had chicken, duck, fish, and calamari. All very good and tasty."
