  • "I live in Hampden. This was my first time at Grano. My guests drove 5 hours to see me and I wanted to give them good food in a cozy setting. We were offered a table upstairs but it didn't offer ambience so we asked to be seated downstairs. Grando did not disappoint. The main floor was perfect!! The food was delicious!! "

  • "well prepared fresh food, home italian cooking - not "restaurant" food."

  • "The food we ordered was great....branzini. It was a pleasure to be in a restaurant that wasn't noisy....we were there around 7pm so don't know if noise level differs when it gets later. The waiter was great. Definitely will go back."

  • "Great evening out. My wife and I have dined here previously. It does not disappoint. Pasta is home made and phenomenal. Good wine list."

  • "Had a party of 7 Saturday night for a friend's b-day. This was the first time any of us had been there. We all had a great time and both the service and food were very good! I highly recommend the mushroom ravioli. 2 friends had the chicken with asparagus dish and it was also good. One had the spaghetti and meatballs and we complimented the chef. Definitely a special occasion place, would recommend to others."

  • "The restaurant was very cozy and comfortable. Good place to relax and enjoy a quiet dinner at the end of a nice stroll and shopping in Hampden. Food was well-prepared. Somehow our order of an appetizer slipped through the cracks, but when the meal hit the table instead--we forgot about the olives. Dessert was awesome and the wine went perfectly with it."

  • "Although the service was slow the food was excellent. All 6 of us enjoyed our dinners. All the pastas were excellent and the red and white sauces were very good. The rockfish was very good and so was the shrimp dish. We will definitely come back."

  • "I am italian. The food was real italian. No disappointement, my grandma would have approved it all! The ambient and decor and good service of this place justify the slightly-pricy dishes. We were a small group and got a table in a very private area, very quiet. All the food I've tried was very interesting. I will go back for sure, need to try some more ;)"

  • "I really liked the feel of the restaurant. I had the mushroom ravioli(made on site) with truffle butter - the dish was excellent- the best out of the four. The other dishes were lasagna - pasta sheets were very light but the dish was a little bland; zuppa de seafood - very fresh and was tasty; & seafood ravioli - we all found this pasta to be a little fishy and the was not a favorite. The fresh pasta is the way to go so ask your server what is made at the restaurant./ The service was just average but with good company all went well!"

  • "My wife and I were visiting my son and brought his family to Grano. Outstanding! The resturant is beautiful, the staff efficient and friendly, and most importantly, the food outstanding. All the pasta dishes were excellent, my wife's chicken was a standout. It was our 2nd time there and we will most certainly be back in the future."

  • "We have been hearing about Grano Emporio for years and finally got there for dinner. They have a limited bar but we had margaritas made with fresh juice (just the way I like them). The wine list was very nice. The appetizer plate was delicious and varied. I had house made raviolis with mushrooms. Absolutely fabulous. We will go back!"

  • "Food pretty uninspired for a $22 shrimp on linguine (that turned out to be spaghetti). Nice for a quiet conversation but certainly not to special occasion level. I always have high expectations for this restaurant because of its reputation but have been disappointed several times."

  • "Saturday night dinner with high expectations which were not completely met. We waited for our drinks, food far too long. The staff seemed to be confused and not well managed, but friendly and polite. The food was very good. They could go lighter on the cream sauce on the mushroom ravioli. The flavor ot the mushrooms was great but overwhelmed by the gloppy sauce. Grano is a charming place and should do better ."

  • "Had a great experience for Valentines day. Chocolats at the table already, The service was great and the food was out of this world! I havent tried the pasta bar but it looked really cool. It was the closet thing I've had to food from my visit to Italy!"

  • "If you are looking for a normal, decent, cheap dinner, then this place is quite fine: the service is very good, the place is quiet and nicely decorated, and food is average. But if you are looking for a great dinner, then the quality of the food is just not where it should be. I had a bruschetta, risotto and cannoli, and tried the ossobuco and the flan. The only thing I would recommend are the cannoli and the flan. The risotto didn't seem to be made with arborio rice, was undercooked, and the presentation was simply a mountain of rice, nothing particularly elegant or tasty. The ossobuco was tender, but pretty much tasteless. The bruschetta was quite fine. I liked it."

  • "We had read reviews in local magazines and had friends recommend Grano with great praise. The food and desserts were excellent. The wine list is adequate. We are looking forward to our next trip to Grano."

  • "Picked grano Emporio on a whim, based on Open Table and Yelp reviews. Everything was a success: quiet/calm restaurant (we were upstairs and it was so quiet we could hear other diner's conversations) very good service (not too pushy, no hovering, just right due to a very attentive young man Travis). Simple but solid wine selection at decent prices. Starters: The cow milk home-made mozzarella and order of mussels were perfect. POsta mains were right on: Orecchiette con Friarielli & Salsiccia was excellent--not overly spicy) sausage and orecchiette pasta were perfect. Her Ravioli ai Funghi Selvatici was perfect also. Tiramisu and french press coffee rounded out a perfect evening. Even the chairs were comfortable. We will be back."

  • "Terrance is a horrible waiter. We didn't have a single drink the entire meal, not even water. Thanks for ruining my birthday dinner. And thanks to the owner who supposedly was picking out a wine for us for over an hour that never showed up to our table. I will NEVER got back to this place!! Thanks for the worst birthday dinner ever!"

  • "We saw previous reviews of this restaurant were mediocre- but we had a great experience here! The dining room is small so make a reservation. The food was excellent! They had a reasonable drink list and we had good selections in both wine and beer made by our waiter. For entrees... our group had the mushroom ravioli, the shrimp santa lucia, the bucattini bellini, and another dish and they were all very good. We also had dessert and would recommend the coconut flan. The restaurant was a great place for conversation and we found it to be very comfortable. Service was excellent. Overall, I will return here again soon!!!"

  • "Our dinners at Grano's were excellent, but the service was not so good. We had to ask for bread and the waitress brought a plate with one piece for each. After our entrees were served we requested some Parmesan cheese. She brought us 2 individual cups of the cheese. We requested 2 more for the rest of the party and she seemed not too happy to go downstairs for more. She seemed to have a bad attitude ."

  • "Grano has been my favorite Itlalian restaurant for a long time. They do all pasta dishes very well. I think that the clam dish is the best around. I have not tried the specials very often, but I am sure it would be great. All of the salads are excellent. This time we had the bruschetta and it was very good. The service was fair, waiter never brought the bread or did not ask. I have had better service in the past when Lisa was there."

  • "Even though the chef is from New Jersey, the food tastes like native Italian. In a city where generic sauces, overcooked dishes and amateurish cooking pass for Italian, Grano Emporio is outstanding-- and has greatly improved over the last two years. Home made ravioli with wild mushrooms and truffle oil in a creamy bechamel were delicious, and the shrimp in another dish were perfectly cooked. Don't neglect the spiced olive oil that comes with the bread either. Service was prompt, friendly and knowledgeable. My only wish is that they had a choice of better wines by the glass. My partner's question as we left was: "when are we coming back?""

  • "good experience overall. service was swift and the food was very good. the only thing I had a beef with was when I got the bill, our waitress handwrote a message saying "appreciate tip in cash", which I was weirded out by. Other than that everything was peachy"

  • "Only a few paces away from the magical Christmas lights enlivening 34th Street in Hampden is Grano Emporio, a cute and modest Italian restaurant. There is nothing ground-breaking about it, but the food is nice and the service quick and polite. Definitely a good place to take someone special!"

  • "Food was excellent. Service was good, the staff were all very friendly. We did get sat at a very tiny table (I am 6' and my knees hit the bottom of the table) but other than that the experience was excellent!"

  • "This was a business lunch, but it turned into a delightful experience. Minestrone soup was out of this world and Prosciutto da Parma was excellent. We found it easy to discuss business and the staff was very attentive. I will definitely be back for lunch and will try Grano for dinner as well."

  • "My wife and I had been to the smaller Grano Pasta Bar down the street, usually for lunch, a number of times and had enjoyed it thoroughly every time. My father was visiting this past weekend so we deiced to try out the restaurant for dinner. I honestly haven;t had a more perfect restaurant experience for a long time. The service was wonderful. Our waiter was knowledgeable and funny. Every dish was amazing. Their home made pastas are just about perfect. And even though we had arrived late and they were obviously closing we didn't feel rushed at all as we lingered over coffee."

  • "My brother and I took our father there for his birthday. The service was friendly and not rushed so we could linger over our conversation and food. Each of our dishes had a beautiful presentation and were made with fresh ingredients. Everything was delicious."

  • "I wasn't sure what to expect as I thought we were going to the pasta bar. But what we discovered was a comfortable even cozy environment...great wine, all dinners (4) were delicious. Appetizer Muscles were excellent. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Gluten free optio for pasta was appreciated. Reasonable prices ...choose the house wine, and food quality was excellent. A great neiborhood gem! Will be back!"

  • "The small main dining room is the only place to enjoy Grano's good food. Other spaces are loud, with rude diners when I've been there. On two occasions we've been seated at terrible tables and had to request disruptive moves after being served drinks. Conversation was impossible. The recovery in both cases was good, but never should have happened for a restaurant with high quality food and prices to match."

  • "This is an italian restaurant without pretention. The food is well prepared, not fussy, but tasty and consistently so. Think of it as going to a friends house for dinner and they really know how to cook."
