Granite Hill provides our family with the loveliest lunch and dinner venue in the City of Philadelphia with: close and safe parking; beautiful buffet and superb desserts; excellent wine list, esp. by the glass; unobtrusive and knowledgeable service; seasonal and farm to table menus; special occasion fixings; fine dining with REAL tablecloths!!!; and then, immediate access to a magnificent art collection through which we may work off all those calories after we have lunched so well! We impress all of our out of town guests by hosting them at the Artist's Table.

  • OVERPRICED!

Seek the alternate dining options in the Phila Art Museum. Granite Hill is overpriced, overpriced! Fish only was very good. Few beans on a plate and two mini cauliflower florets. THAT was the entree. No bread, no real salad, no soup included. The so-called included "appetizer bar" was a joke. A few loose lunchmeats and some stale flatbreads do NOT make an appetizer bar. I don't mind paying for something great at these prices but this was just a snooty rip-off.

After a tour at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, I dined alone at Granite Hill for lunch at 1:15 PM. I was seated at a table with a lovely window view of the fall foliage. I was given a great deal of attention by the staff throughout my visit, which enhanced the quality of the experience. My lunch choice was the buffet which was elegant and consisted of gourmet specialties, both hot and cold, with various choices which were attractively identified by small signs. Salads, seafood, lunch meats, steak, fruit, cheeses, and desserts were elegantly displayed and were delicious. The price was reasonable considering the fine quality and the opportunity for unlimited trips to the buffet area.

Waited approximately 25 minutes before hostess acknowledged us and sat us. It appeared she was also busing tables. Food was excellent. Price of brunch included an alcoholic beverage. However you had to mix the drink yourself. There was no bartender or ice. Service at the table was good. Coffee and juice was served and dishes were cleared as they were emptied.

Open table show a Sunday Menu for Granite Hill, but on Sundays, Granite Hill now does JUST a buffet for $35. I didn't see a whole egg at the omelet stand, instead the chef ladled egg liquid, thought it might be quick eggs. Hummmm. Stephen Starr's group should know better.

Granite Hill is in the Philadelphia Museum of Art, very convenient for visitors as well as a calm setting and a respite from the visual stimulation of the galleries. The restaurant is always included in my plans for any visit to the museum. The attractive buffet provides many choices of food not listed on the menu. A wide selection of teas is available. The food and service are reliably good.

Their Farm to Plate menu was delicious. My husband and I could not say enough about all the items on the Chef's table. The mussel salad was superb along with the other items. Our entries were excellent. The sirloin melted in your mouth. The scallops were perfect! The atmosphere was so romantic. We watch the sunset through the window from our table. Being able to walk around the museum after dinner topped off the night.

Very nice, especially for lunch. The prix-fixe buffet has an astonishing selection of great choices; it's a bit pricey for a lunch, just make sure it's your major meal of the day. There are also a la carte selections. For dinner, some nice choices but not a huge selection; the buffet table as appetizer is great and is included with the price of the entree. We enjoyed the evening's special dish, lamb meatballs. The crab cakes were also good. Great wine-by-the-glass selection. We came for dinner on a Friday evening when the museum is open late, and it made it a special occasion evening.

My daughter's burger was ordered "rare" and received well done. Our server had to notice that she hardly touched it, but no one ever asked if everything was okay. I ordered the buffet, which was also disappointing and cold. Things were never "refreshed" on the buffet as we were promised would happen. I think the food had been sitting out for several hours. Very disappointing. We love the Philadelphia Museum, but would advise other art lovers to find another place to eat that serves fresh food made to order. Not worth the money or our time.

The buffet lunch was wonderful: an abundant and varied selection of tasty meats, seafood, veggies, grains, and fruit. The grilled shrimp with curry was especially good. And the service was helpful and discreet. The lunch contributed to a pleasant experience at the museum, which on a Friday consisted not only of great art, but great jazz the evening as well.

My wife and I went to Granite Hill for Sunday lunch and were surprised that it was a buffet. The food was mediocre, at best, and we were charged $95. (Only had one bloody Mary) Several of the dishes were over cooked (short ribs were boiling in a chaffing dish). No wonder there were very few people eating here.
