  • "We had an excellent luncheon experience at Granite Hill because our server, Michael, was outstanding. He paid attention to our special needs and went out of his way to accommodate us. The chef's cooperation helped also. This made all the difference in our dining experience."

  • "We consider the Art Museum to be a treasure and it's fine dining facility, Granit Hill is a big plus when visiting. The wait staff are very courteous and friendly, the food choices are creative and delicious and there are woke interesting cocktail and wine selections. No visit would ve compete without dining here."

  • "Granite Hill brunch has a wide variety of typical brunch foods and then some. Beautifully prepared and tasty. Our party of four all have different tastes and everyone was satisfied with their choices. Service is efficient and gracious. This is simply an excellent restaurant that adds to your overall enjoyment of the museum."

  • "The food was tasty but the selection was so limited. For a restaraunt in an art museum, it is very bland in atmosphere. I also don't understand why I could not earn open table points, though my reservation went through open table."

  • "The buffet lunch was wonderful: an abundant and varied selection of tasty meats, seafood, veggies, grains, and fruit. The grilled shrimp with curry was especially good. And the service was helpful and discreet. The lunch contributed to a pleasant experience at the museum, which on a Friday consisted not only of great art, but great jazz the evening as well."

  • "Superb buffet. Few selections but healthy, delicious, and a balanced meal."

  • "My wife and I went to Granite Hill for Sunday lunch and were surprised that it was a buffet. The food was mediocre, at best, and we were charged $95. (Only had one bloody Mary) Several of the dishes were over cooked (short ribs were boiling in a chaffing dish). No wonder there were very few people eating here."
    Dined on 7/13/2014
  • "Very pleasant Friday evening experience. Appetizers wonderful! Food very good but small portions. Our server was excellent, friendly, knowledgeable."
    Dined on 7/11/2014
  • "The day we were there, there were many empty tables. Obviously, not many patrons were expected, and the buffet was very skimpy. I have been there before when the buffet was sufficient. A la carte food was good."
    Dined on 7/11/2014
  • "Despite having a reservation and the restaurant being nearly empty, we were seated next to the ordering computer and had to listen to the server loudly tapping in his tables' orders throughout our meal."

  • "I had no idea that Stephen Starr had opened an upscale lunch place in the Art Museum. Cocktails & a la carte lunch were wonderful. One of our group had the buffet which was amazing. Service was just superb. They weren't very busy, but still stellar service."

  • "I always wanted to visit for brunch, I was told the food was good. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see the lunch menu was good as well. The food was delicious and service was great. I definitely have to stop by for brunch, since my lunch experience was so enjoyable."

  • "This was the second time my friend and I had gone here for lunch in the middle of the week. Everything about the place is excellent. What stands out especially is the high quality of the vegetables and salads - wonderful vibrant arugula. And you can't beat the setting, with it's view of the river."

  • "We enjoyed Granite Hill for lunch this week. The service was perfect, the ambience relaxing and elegant and the food was quite good. I am looking forward to returning. It would be a wonderful place for brunch or dinner as well and being right in the Museum there is never a question about the after dinner entertainment: ART."

  • "I have dinned at the Granite Hill many times ( usually with my husband) this time I took a guest with me. It was top notch as always and my guest was also very impressed, as this was the first time she had been there."

  • "Open table listed brunch at $30 per person and it was actually $50 per person. The buffet food was cold and that is with drinking water and no alcoholic beverages we paid $120 for a buffet that was like something you get at a roadside hotel breakfast buffet for $15. Very very disappointed and THE FOOD WAS COLD I HAD TO ASK THE COOKS TO LIGHT THE STERNOS AND BRING US SOME HOT FOOD FROM THE KITCHEN"

  • "We had an excellent dinner at Granite Hill. It was very quiet and although it was a limited menu, we enjoyed it very much. We wanted to see some of the Philadelphia Art Museum and having dinner there saved us sometime on our two day trip. The crab cakes were especially good and we liked the appetizer buffet as well. Our waiter was also very attentive. It was a very good experience for the three of us."

  • "My niece was visiting from Connecticut and had never visited the Art Museum. I made reservations at Granite Hill so we could maximize our time at the museum. The Maitre d and wait staff were so pleasant, attentive and knowledgeable. We started with the Franco-Vietnamese Spring Rolls accompanied by a wonderful peanut sauce, as well as the Parsnip-Pear soup with shavings of roasted pear and sorrell puree that was amazing. For the main course, I had a delightful assortment of marinated grilled shrimp, thin sliced filet, and a delicious choice of bread, vegetables, fruit and dessert! from the Chef's buffet and my niece had the Chicken Confit salad which she thoroughly enjoyed. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the museum."

  • "Years ago the PMA restaurant had a genius chef and the food was delightful. I particularly enjoyed the buffet in years past. This time, Sunday brunch was dreary, and, not surprisingly, poorly attended. Because the place was mostly empty, there was no problem with noise, but there was a problem with the food. It started out appropriately with a lukewarm kir royale with fizz-less champagne -- a sign of what was in store. The buffet table had many items that looked appealing, but aside from the cold asparagus and salmon rolls -- both nice, everything was tired, dry, and overcooked, as well as missing seasoning that could enliven the flavors. The servers were sweet and attentive. Too bad the kitchen seems to have lost the plot."

  • "We enjoyed the food, service, and ambiance when we were at Granite Hill for lunch less than a year ago, but the restaurant has gone downhill in all respects. The menu is more limited and pedestrian; the service we experience at lunch was inept, including bring a second glass of juice when the guest indicated she did not want another and submitting an incorrect bill; and the chairs have become wobbly."

  • "I once gave this place 5 stars. Now,management has cut staff & abandoned interest."

  • "This restaurant in the art museum had mixed reviews so I was hesitant but glad I tried it. We had the perfect day spending time at the museum, a delicious brunch, and a chance to walk outside on the river. The service was excellent and there was more than enough food. If a dish emptied, it was quickly replaced. The food was good quality and there were plenty of choices for both the vegetarians and the carnivores among us (I find buffets are never as good as freshly made dishes). If spending time at the museum I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a meal."

  • "Granite Hill put on a lovely Mother's Day brunch. It wasn't flawless. The seating times made sitting down a little confusing and the hostess looked like she was having a nightmare. Once we sat down things got better. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was pleasant. My mom was very satisfied and we enjoyed eating in the museum."

  • "Disorganized, some dishes unavailable when we arrived, food was cold. Not worth the cost."

  • "I had a party of 5 for the Mother's Day Brunch. Reservations were at 12. We arrived 10 mins early & waited 20 mins to be seated. Our table was already set-up and the restaurant far from full. Didn't understand the wait. The food was good, however, there was a small variety and you had to wait for empty stations to be replenished. The staff was GREAT. I have no clue about how the normal course of dining is, so I cannot speak on it. But the brunch is merely "ok." Parking was $12 which made no sense. Waterworks has free valet parking and the food variety is so much better and the price is the same. It was not a "bad" choice, but I have no reason to ever return. Restaurant itself was very nicely appointed."

  • "Once again this wonderful restaurant does not disappoint. Food & service were, as usual, excellent. Staff was courteous & attentive. Used dishes & utensils "disappeared" & napkins were quickly refolded. Food was, as always, outstanding. This is our 17th year that we have had Mother's Day brunch here & we intend to continue this tradition. I highly recommend it. After brunch, you can tour the museum. We've visited many museums (and their dining venues) in the US & Europe - Granite Hill is among the tops. As I mentioned to the Maître d ‘ (Christine) this Restaurant was better than the one at the Louvre & that's hard to beat. We had a gift certificate that expired, but the manager honored the certificate, without any hassle. "

  • "The buffet of appetizer was very poor at 8PM ... even as I asked it was filled again but a poor choice for the price. The preparation of the dish was nice and nicely tastefull."

  • "The food is expensive for what you get. We had hoped to eat Korean food preceding our visit to the KOrean exhibit. However the only Korean offerings were on the buffet table for a heafty price and there were only 3 Korean offernings. We were not impressed."

  • "Really enjoyed our brunch. We struck up a lively conversation with the chef cooking the omelets and when we commented on the delicious braised ribs and other dishes he brought out the head chef so we could tell him. The omelet station was manned by the chef who had also cooked the braised ribs with root vegetables. Great technique and personable too. The only thing that bothered me was that the trout was cold and a little dried out-am wondering if there is a way to keep it warm or bring out small warm portions at a time. "

  • "It is inside the museum and very convenient after the tour of special exhibition. Food was very good and place was very quiet for conversation. Will go again in the future if I go to museum on Friday evening or do lunch in weekdays."

  • "Even if you're not visiting the Philadelphia Art Museum, you can catch the free shuttle from the Rodin Museum (next to the Barnes) and have an elegant, restful break from a day in Philly. Make sure to make a reservation."

  • "Brunch on Easter seemed like a good idea, but the restaurant was crowded and noisy and the table service was hectic. The brunch did offer some variety, but little for vegetarians or people who don't eat pork (even the salad had bacon). Otherwise, the food was tasty."

  • "I visit the Philadelphia area often and love the wealth of great dining options but this is not one of them. This Easter visit was planned around a trip to the Museum. They did a brunch buffet and rescheduled us into one of 3 bizarre seatings that made for a mad feeding rush to the buffet tables that emptied fast as they could fill them. The room is small and claustrophobic. The furniture and decor could be in any hospital or university cafeteria. While there was a fair selection and they did keep refilling the tables the food was just ok, nothing memorable, not even deserts. Our server was outstanding. "

  • "Out of towner visiting student at college. Went for Easter Brunch, food and service were excellent, and many choices. Only downside, DO NOT use their parking garage. $32 for an hour lunch just to park. Apparently you are not a museum guest when you are just dining there and do not get the discounted parking. Pricey to park on top of a pricey brunch. "
