  • "Tried Grange last Friday for my boyfriend's birthday, 6:30 table. Setting is very nice - rustic beams - he loved it. Food was excellent. We shared the crab cake starter- he had the duck and I had a wonderful scallops special. Consensus was the crab was the best we've ever had. I would have given them more stars if not for the service. I understand they need to turn tables and we were not about to linger as we had later plans. But right from the start we were rushed. The server was on our backs to order as soon as we got the menu - I had to slow her down twice. Still the starter came out almost immediately and then the entrees were not far behind. We were out before 8- and they didn't even have a full second seating - let people dine."

  • "The Grange is a very small (35 ppl) restaurant but absolutely a great find for those that like a chef that does not sit on an existing menu, and loves to change it up often. I recommend that a reservation is a must, as the restaurant will turn away people without reservations due to the size of the restaurant."

The head chef is very creative and uses exotic ingredients in her dishes that have an explosion of flavor! I will definitely be back and recommend to my friends."

  • "My wife and I had a great anniversary dinner at Grange. The appetizers were the deviled eggs and the crab cakes both of which were tasty and well portioned. For main courses we had the salmon which had a delicious glaze and was cooked perfectly. The pork loin special not only was prepared well but the sides (whipped sweet potatoes and cooked greens) were outstanding. For desert we had the sampler: an apple cobbler, blueberry "scooter pie", and chocolate mousse. It was the perfect end to a great meal. While my hats off to the chef, the service was excellent, warm, friendly and made the whole experience a joy. And a walk around the block to the theater too."

  • "There are simply few restaurants outside NYC that can compare with Grange. It is not just the quality of the food, but the style & sophistication of the whole experience. The food is creative, but not fussy. Delicious & beautiful on the plate. Different & interesting. Definitely not the New Jersey approach. The space is more of the same, stunning, intimate, warm & so comfortable. The only minor criticism is that service could be a tad smoother & more engaging, but it's a relatively new place & that will come with age. If we want more places like Grange in the area, we need to support the heck out of it. Try the retro-cool deviled eggs or fondue, but everything on the menu in my several trips there was outstanding. I'm definitely jealous."

  • "Menu could use a tweaking.The pickled goodies are not so good as are the deviled eggs. Time for a change. Hoping for Spring /Summer menu changes.The server needs to be more visible, rather than staying behind the partition, so that when service or a check is needed , he will SEE that we need to speak with him. It is a small space. It would be easy for him to scan to see if all diners are OK. It would be nice for him to look around occasionally to see if help is needed , once in a while. Also would be pleasant for him to engage the diners a bit more."

  • "Crab cakes were well prepared and tasty. Scallops were very good (although only 4 for $30 ish) but bass dish was a bit all over the place. Decor is very spartan. Would really benefit from a large vibrant artwork on the brick wall to provide some ambience and warmth. All hard services make it very noisy. Service very casual for a restaurant that positions itself as upmarket. With some improvements this could be a great restaurant."

  • "My husband and I enjoyed a great dinner at Grange. It was our first visit but we will definitely return. I got the devil eggs and my husband got the coconut shrip app, both were excellent. We chose two specials for dinner, I loved the scallops and rissotto and my husband had the pork special. Again both excellent. The specials were on the pricey side but its a BYOB so that brought down the cost. Great food, service and atmosphere. Highly recommend."

  • "After getting a number of 'likes' on Facebook about this restaurant, we decided to try it. When I first went to make reservations, I could not get a table for several weeks at a reasonable time. However, this past Sunday, on a lark, I tried to get a reservation on open table and one was available at 7:30. The restaurant is unassuming from the outside and very small inside. There was a birthday party at a large table that was very noisy, which took away from the experience, until the food came. The food was wonderful. While not our absolute favorite restaurant, it is definitely one of our top 5. The flavor mixes were fantastic and the different sauces were extremely tasty without detracting from the food. We will definitely return!!!!"

  • "Pros: Really enjoyed inventive menu. Desserts were excellent (all three). Enjoyed gobbler sandwich, thank you for providing a gravy! Feel free to add a turkey gravy to the dish. Cranberry mayo - out of this world. Waiter was funny and cool. Negs: The room was a bit chilly. Would have liked to have more warm drink options (i.e decaf tea or hot chocolate)."

Be prepared to be warmly welcomed by the owner and wowed by the chef! It proves that you do not have to drive across the bridge to dine on some of the best innovative food I have ever tasted!"

What gives this restaurant it's edge is the atmosphere - the small crew here seem to truly enjoy what they are doing, and that fun vibe radiates.   • "the food was terrific. my wife and I both ordered specials and we both cleaned our plates. My short rib entree was fantastic. There was a healthy portion of spinach in the entree, so I could see them adding a bit more meat if they're going to over compliment the dish with that much spinach. But hey, if thats the only feedback, it was a great dish. Our waiter was awesome. It was not his first rodeo as he managed our table and orders with ease and no errors. As we knew, it was a tight space, but we'll be back."

The room is very inviting and pleasantly small, but when every table is full the noise level is quite lively. The service was very good and then slipped a bit. In one respect it was very nice to be left to talk and without interruption. We will go back."

  • "Grange is a small restaurant. We had to wait awhile for our table . There is not much wiggle room between the reservations. That being said .we had a wonderful meal that was worth the wait.The restaurant brought us a complimentary dessert to apologize for the wait. The service was attentive ,but not intrusive. The winter salad was fabulous. The beet salad was alright. The salmon had a wonderful flavor and the accompaniments were spectacular. The hen was excellent as well. This is a foodie restaurant. The preparations are creative and delicious. if you like simple preparations this is really not the restaurant for you. The menu is limited. We will definitely return and bring our foodie friends."

  • "I have dined here twice and at the chef's previous location numerous times. I can honestly say that the food has always been worth the trip! I have yet to have a less-than stellar meal. Everything - from the 3 preparations of deviled eggs to the chocolate cake with milky way ganache - was done to perfection. Truly a terrific experience for anyone who doesn't mind a great dinner."

  • "Dined on Valentines Day. 5 Course Price Fixe menu (which was never mentioned when making or confirming reservations). And no price listed on menu either, only on the check (@$85pp!). Surprise! No special ambiance for Valentines Day in the restaurant, despite fully booked with couples. Music was too loud for a "romantic" dinner, felt like being in a bar. Server explained that music was "set" and could not be altered. (Does anyone really want to hear Van Halen & John Mellencamp 80s music when fine dining, and at that price?) Food tasted good, but the courses were hurried. Appetizers were very small. Was never asked if we would like coffee with our desert. Came to Grange with high expectations, but left a little wanting."

  • "After decades of languishing in the culinary wasteland that is Bergen County, we finally have a restaurant that is more than worthy of 4+ stars. I have eaten at Grange several times. Every time has been terrific. As a bonus, we get to take advantage of the BYO custom in NJ! Every dish I have had has been well presented, well seasoned and well served. If I had one criticism - the seared foie gras is a tiny portion for the price - I would not recommend it."

  • "The food was incredible as was the ambiance, however I made a dinner reservation for 4 on their website for 7pm and received confirmation via e-mail. I then received a phone call from the restaurant explaining that 7pm was not available. It was a software issue and I never should have received confirmation. My choice was 6:30pm or 8:30pm. I acquiesed and accepted the 6:30pm reservation. When our waiter came over and asked "if we could help him out. It was 8:30 and there was a party waiting for our table" we were stunned. To make matters worse, the waiter then watched us, waiting for us to leave, obviously needing to turn over our table. We were not advised of their 2 hour seating policy and finding out over dinner was appalling."

  • "We went for restaurant week. They had a great selection and did not skimp on the portions. I had the salmon (they substituted pecans for walnuts) and hubby had the meatloaf. Both were absolutely delicious - hubby wanted more mac & cheese for dessert! Only complaint was the weak coffee. Service was attentive. We'll keep returning!"

  • "We went for Westwood Restaurant Week and everything was amazing. Service was great and so was the food. We each got something different which included the salmon, meatloaf, and pork chop. I would go back and pick any one of them. It has such a nice relaxed atmosphere, very cozy. It would be nice if they always had one price fixe on the menu each week but will go back even without it."
