A word from GRANGE vin+bouffe
After a long day at work, after a good week-end morning walk in the Old Port, or simply to agreably cut the day in half, it feels good to find yourself in a warm and friendly place, where eating is good for the soul as much as it is for your taste buds and where the relaxed atmosphere allows you to leave your worries at the door. Such a place exists in Montreal, located in the heart of McGill Street in the Old Montreal.
A convivial and warm place, GRANGE vin+bouffe differentiates itself with its casual ambiance, “small plates” to share, and its wine card with a selection of over 100 bottles, most served by the glass. Cold cuts, cheeses and a raw bar complete the menu served in a chic-rustic setting. Whether you go for brunch on Saturday and Sunday, for lunch, for diner, or to spend a good time around the large bar after work during a 5 à 7, GRANGE is a must-experience place.

Diner Reviews
  • "Not much actual cooking actually going on -- they simply re-heat things. Unfortunately the microwave is the most used appliance. More importantly, the kitchen staff's hygienic practices were borderline nasty... cooks kept touching hair, face, and nibbling on food without washing their hands at all."

  • "We decided to try this place because we found a groupon deal. We were not happy with the experience at all. When we arrived for our reservation, the guy asked us (after sizing us up) if we were "coupon holders", we said yes and then he brought us all the way to the back of the restaurant - he also told us that we had to be done by 8pm (started at 6:15) because other reservations were coming in at that time. The waiter (also the guy that seated us), made us feel like we were cheapskates and when I spoke to him in English, he made little accommodating effort - then he gave us a different waiter. The food was good, but nothing extraordinary and took too long to get. I wouldn't go back. Even with the coupon, we spent close to $70."

  • "Had a great girls night out at GRANGE. Delicious food (their twist on the poutine was quite yummy and unique) & drinks were great. Loved the look of this place."

Nourriture tres bonne, belle presentation originale. Vous voules qqch de different, allez y !"

  • "Second time to this restaurant. The decor is pretty nice, the bar table very social. The salmon tartar was excellent and very fresh and the lamb was one of the best, if not the best, I had to far."

  • "Small restaurant with nice music, nice service but limited choices on menu with no Table d'Hote and a wine list limited for a restaurant named "vin + bouffe". Interesting choices of appetizers however and I recommend the mini-burgers."

  • "Was there with a group of friends and had the tasting menu suggested by the server. The food was amazing and the service was great! My friends and I loved it and will definitly go back...the salmon tartare is amazing!! Also the cheese selection is great as well as the beef tartare and the mac and cheese. Cheers to a great restaurant!"

  • "La Grange Resto review: AWESOME! the food is really delicious. Seriously. Go there if you like eating amazing food. Plus the atmosphere is nice and the booths are comfortable! All off the food we tried was delicious! I would definitely go again. What did I eat? Melon gazpacho, Beef Tartare with cognac, Lobster Salad (worth it! Cold lobster served with roquette, fennel, oranges, grapefruits, + the spring roll), The short rib (It was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. WOW!!!!!!) For dessert, the pudding chomeur, the house specialty, and the pistachio-nut sorbet which they called Nougat, which was fantastic. All was fantastic! Maybe a bit pricey (25-35$ for a main) but soooooooo worth it!"

  • "After so many great meals at GRANGE, we were disappointed this time. Nothing was bad but we did not feel the great vibe we had over our previous meals over there. We will probably go back to double-check. We felt like prices have gone up significantly over the past few months."

  • "Old Montreal has a lot to offer in terms for restaurants but very few can deliver as great food, great wine and above the avg. service as Grange Vin + Bouffe does. Nothing super fancy but what they do they do it well. Very well. A must in the hood."

  • "The decor was very nice, ambiance very relaxed and our waitress was very helpful."

  • "Would recommend serving baguette with the foie gras choice, as we had to ask for it. Also, suggest oferring steak knives for the lamb rack, as we only had regular knives and had to ask for proper ones. Otherwise great food and presentation, kudos to the chefs!"

  • "Great food, a bit on the pricey side, and the service was fast and courteous. Was dissapointed to see that the ribs dish I was looking for (served on a wooden platter) were replaced by another style of ribs, good on taste but nothing to tell your friends about it, really. The filet-mignon tartare was great, though!"

  • "A good experience overall. Bison burgers and desserts were delicious. The short ribs were a bit blah (maybe overcooked?). Would go back for a late night glass of wine with the burgers for sure. Service was very friendly and atmosphere was cozy."

  • "It was the first time we went here. we had purchased a "tuango" voucher. We LOVED the ambiance, beautiful looking & simple structured restaurant. we loved the "open" kitchen concept. the service was awesome. Our waiter (i cant remember his name) was very helpful, friendly and knew exactly what to recommend. we went as an anniversary date, we each had a tartare to start (myself salmon, and my fiance beef) they were both out of this world.we then had the baby back ribs and polenta & cabbage as a main, DELICIOUS isn't enough to describe the taste & flavours. we LOVE IT! for dessert, i had the creme caramel (not my favourite.. but that is just my personal taste) and my fiancé had pudding chomeur.. that was so yummy! the price is very reasonable"

  • "Mini-burgers are very cute, but they should be called macaron-burgers cause they are way too small... really a joke. I thought this type of French cuisine was a long-time revolute. Moderate portion is the way to go, but 5.50$ for such a ridiculous small bite is expensive."

  • "Great but tables too close together , conducive to chatting to the couples on either side. Not the place for romance or private conversations"

  • "Very cold even with the heat on during winter, extreme prejudice by adding 15% service charge for 2 persons without informing us before. Did not ask us if everything was okay during our meal ( no quality check). Casual smart dress code but most customers in blue jeans and also the servers wearing jeans. The lady manager which also our server told us tough luck using tuango coupons because you should have used it 4 months earlier and we told her it was imposible to book a place for the final month of promotion. She did not honor our voucher. Tuango later told us the restaurant will extend the deadline of the promotion."

  • "We were not impressed overall about this restaurant. The restaurant was pretty full on a Saturday night which we thought was a good sign. The ambiance is very good and it is a very relaxed place. The food however was not spectacular. We took the scallops and foie gras for the appetizers. The scallops were ok, the fois gras was good. As the main dish, we took the salmon tartar. It is mixed with roasted pecan and I thought it was original (although my wife did not like it so much). For the desert, we took the sweet and sour caramel pouding with popcorn which was interesting and the brownies which were very good as well but a bit too sweet."

  • "Wine description given by our waitress was very vague. She gave us our checks but we didn't ask for it."

  • "I went to the restaurant on a Saturday night with my boyfriend with a Tuango coupon. I noticed that they have placed all couples with coupons in the same spot (facing the kitchen). However, our waitress was very nice and explained to us clearly with all our choices. We ordered: Hot oyster trio, Foie Gras torchon (so smooth), baby back ribs (juicy and tender) and duck duo salad (loved the popped vinaigrette and delicious gnocchi but meat a bit overcooked). Everything was well prepared and the portion was huge!! The service was not fast but we didn't mind taking our time to enjoy our date. One of the down side was the place was way too warm that we need to constantly drink water!!"

  • "The food pretty good & servers good, waitress soso ! Good portions except for the sliders(coin size) & sausage trio which was a few THIN slices of sausage. Main dishes were nicely prepared & tasty."

  • "everything was excelent, the only thing is the music a little too loud, other then that everything was perfect, good for a date, a birthday, or just a really good diner...try the beef or salmon tartar, they are awsome"

  • "The restaurant is very warm and inviting, so is the food. Interesting menu and wine selection. The neighbourhood is beautiful, the restaurant is well located for guests to go for a walk after or before the meal. The service was a bit shaky.. It was the waiter's first week working there, he wasn't the most professional. The overall experience was amazing though. The restaurant is divided so the noise level stays moderate even though there are lots of tables. I recommend this place."
