GrangeGood food but noisyWe had a great waiter and the food was good, but it was very noisy.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMPork ChopThe Pork Chop was Fantastic. The best I have ever had. Ribs to start highly recommended. Great deserts. Overall a great experience-nice atmosphere. I would recommend this restaurant. Roger was outstanding with the service and his recommendations were spot on.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat overall mealThe entrees were fabulous (pork chop and halibut), the appetizer tuna tartare was one the of best we've had. Service was great both at the bar and the table. Our only disappointment were the sides - the waiter promised they were outstanding and we found them rather bland - we ordered a side of potatoes and a side of greens. We had the Ruhstaller Malt Custard for dessert and it beat expectations. We will be back!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMYum!What a special spot, great set up inside. Food was really stand out. The BF and I have been holed up at Seasons 52 when we come into town and they have set a high bar for us, but Grange was definitely on par.
We got the mole salami- fine for me, the BF not as enamored as I was, but we agree on the pickles, a tasty treat.
The lobster coconut soup was really nice.
The 7up ribs were killer, they came in odd numbers, so I only got one :(
Next was the artichoke salad with egg. OMG!
Then the salmon, didn't get any, but no complaints and a clean plate said it all.
My downer of the night was the beef fat roasted potatoes- could have used a bit more salt, but the horseradish sauce fantastic.
We will definitely go again. Plus 50% off bottles of wine6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent organic foodLove the creative menu. So many wonderful options it's hard to make a decision. Loved the artichoke starter and the veggie ragout as a side. The halibut and chicken were both delicious.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMImpressedThis was our first visit to Grange and we were impressed. The food, from the basket of bread to the appetizer to the main course was excellent. The service was very good and friendly, explaining all the food details patiently since he knew it was our first visit. the wine and drink list was very good as well although they did not have the root beer with bourbon available. we would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone and plan on visiting again.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightfulThis is a pricey restaurant (we spent close to $100 for lunch which included one glass of wine for each of us, two main course salads, an order of flatbread and one shared dessert plus tip) with good food that is worth a special treat. Kudos to our waiter.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFarm FreshWe had the good luck of dining on a Wednesday night when the chef featured a meal derived from purchases at the farmer's market in Cesar Chavez Square across the street that morning. My two fellow diners ordered that meal and declared it excellent. The only complaint was the portions on the salad were small and not up to the caliber of the rest of the meal. The dessert got especially high marks. My meal, which combined the Crane Lettuce Salad and the Del Rey Avacado/Quinoa was excellent.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMHonest excellenceThe work of an outstanding chef. And good to see some decent beers - though that list needs to be expanded to better balance the wine list.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGrazing at the GrangeSuperb service of locally produced products and a strong California wines offered make Grange a place to be checked out, enjoyed and returned to.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMPerhaps the choice of the downtownGiven the somewhat scattered and eclectic eating establishments in the downtown Sacramento corridor, Grange may offer the best venue and menu for any occasion....breakfast, lunch, cocktails and dinner. The dining room is large enough that you can find a table for almost any level of quietude or interaction with the bar scene, the service is absolutely superior and the slightly restricted menu offers delectable items and combinations. But, do wish their draft beer offering was a bit more diverse!6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome RestaurantHad a great time at the Grange, service was excellent, thanks Clint! Ambiance was perfect the night was fabulous. The food was delicious served at a reasonable pace with our hors d'œuvres served quickly and dinner soon after. Really the night was fun and would definitely go back.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of our favorite spotsOne of our favorite spots in Sacramento. The Grange is an energetic urban setting with excellent service and nice ambience. The menu is inventive and well presented. Would recommend the Amish chicken and the halibut as excellent choices for a main course.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperbOur entire experience was superb. From the delicious food to the impeccable service,we we were thoroughly impressed and look forward to returning.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMTry the wine flight! ExcellentTry the wine flight! Excellent food! Great service !5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic DinnerThis was our second time at The Grange, and the experience was fantastic. The menu is fresh and innovative. We were celebrating our son's 21st birthday with a couple of older teens along as well. They were a little worried about the "unusual" ingredients and preparations, but all found something to order and all gave a big thumbs up. It was fun to see them be adventurous. All adults were thrilled with their selections, from fresh fish to pork chops and chicken, all prepared perfectly. Starters were a hit as well, with the grilled yogurt flatbread and charcuterie plate with in-house cured meats. Service was attentive and knowledgable. Will definitely be back.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMEveryday GrangeGreat downtown location, historic building, comfortable industrial chic design, professional and friendly staff.
Fine enough for an occasion and easy enough for any ol' nite.
Will visit again when in the Sacramento area.
THANK YOU!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing. The grange has been my favorite restaurant for about 3 years. Even through the different chefs it remains an amazing gastronomic wonder in Sacramento. One complaint I had is that when carded at the bar one day I was told that I wasn't old enough to drink even though I was almost 22. It took 3 people to do the math to figure out that I wasn't lying. It even said 21 in 2012 on my card, and this was February 2013. But this last visit was amazing. Their beef was delicious and had an air of unctuousness that is so often missed on improperly marbled burgers. The only disappointment was that the Waygu beef and bacon burger with guacamole came with absolutely no guacamole. That said, it didn't stop me from horking it down and loving it.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect!Everything we got was excellent. Tim our waiter steered us in the right direction and was super friendly and personable. He talked me into getting chocolate decadence and he was right. My rib eye was absolutely the best steak ever, except for my dad's. My husband's halibut looked fantastic and fun and he loved it. Grange is really a special place. I believe they are in their groove right now.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and service.Excellent food and service. The appetizers (mussels and tuna tartare) were amazing.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was perfect except...Valet parking was a bit of a nightmare. Curb space was limited (to be expected) so they need staff at the curb to meet your car and get it out of traffic. We were there on a busy Friday night and there were two valet staff. One was manning the booth and the other was trying to unload four cars and move them. Other than that, the food was excellent (yummy halibut!) and Tim is a top-notch server. He also helped with excellent wine pairings.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat nightWent out with my wife for a wonderful meal. Great farm to fork food! Best burger I have eaten in my life.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMfriday dateI was familiar with the Grange as I had previously dined here. Took a friend there for our first date and the Grange did not disappoint. The service, food, and atmosphere were perfect and my date went well. Thanks for creating an environment for a couple to have a great time.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat BrunchDined at Grange for Mother's Day Brunch. Wonderful prix fixe menu with choices for first and entree course, served at your table (not buffet). Dessert bar was buffet style. Endless mimosas were lovely. Everyone was pleased with their meals--chilled avocado soup, green salad for starters, crab and asparagus omelette, steak sandwich and salad nicoise for entrees. Best nicoise I've ever had--seared ahi, baby greens, soft egg and a perfectly light champagne dressing. We were seated upstairs in a booth that made it easy for all of us to converse and hear eachother. Very pleasant experience, and I'd recommend this restaurant!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat bar, beautiful presentationWent for mother's day brunch-special menu so I can't really evaluate the regular menu, but overall presentation was very pretty. Service was a bit uneven. Will have to go back to try the usual menu.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGrange hits the markWe had a great meal at the Grange and the service was awesome. I found a rubber band in my greens and my waitress took care of it immediately. I assume the rubber band was missed when washing the greens and it really could have happened anywhere. What I admire is the way it was handled by the waitress and the manager on duty. Great job guys, I appreciate the good service!
The food was cooked perfectly and had unique flavors... I will definitely return!
Cheers - CT5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMInteresting menu..initialInteresting menu..initial concerns about overly "creative" dishes proved inaccurate..All were well done and still original5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Service in townHighly knowledgeable wait staff; seemed to know more about the food than the chef; friendly bartender with great food recommendations; staff always seemed to appear at just the right time; very professional but very easygoing; just an overall great experience; we're sorry we waited so long to dine there.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMA Cosmopilitan Gem in SacramentoThis was our first time dining in Sacramento and finding Grange reminded me of the restaurants I left behind in the larger cities on the east coast. Grange has a cosmopolitan flair with wait staff that was knowledgeable, professional, friendly, and worked like a well oiled machine. What brought me back to reality was the food. Served in manageable portions, which you can only find in decent restaurants, it was what I would expect when thinking "Californian"; eclectic, using the best of California at its base, with something for everyone including a foodie like me who enjoys experimenting. It is a must come back to place. If you go you must try the "122" at the bar.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic food. ExcellentFantastic food. Excellent service by all staff. Very accommodating menu. The steak and chicken entrees were exceptional. Wonderful place to spend an anniversary dinner.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect Birthday DinnerFood was great and the service was fantastic. Took my husband there for his birthday and they made it special for him... Just moved here from Brooklyn and this place reminds us of some of the Great spots in NYC.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Grange does not disappoint. The Grange does not disappoint. Food creativity and taste are top notch. Service is friendly and flawless.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was great. We hadThe food was great. We had the cheese plate, the halibut and pork ravioli and for dessert the apple and granola and flourless chocolate cake. Service was very nice and accomodating for a couple of friends catching up after several years! thanks so much a noce night!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot for Sunday dinnerGreat spot for a Sunday dinner as they are always in full service due to being part of the hotel. Apps and small plates were all very good. Nice wine list and wines "on tap". Service is always excellent, under stated yet knowledgeable and attentive.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMKenny, our waiter, was fantastic.Kenny, our waiter, was fantastic. Best waiter we have ever had here. Somehow, the food keeps getting better! How can that be? I had a chicken dish, and I hate chicken, but this was incredible! Husband had the rib eye---outstanding. Sides and preparations were interesting and plentiful. Dessert was fabulous tho hard to choose what to have because it all looked wonderful.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent restaurant. UrbanExcellent restaurant. Urban but comfortable atmosphere with very attentive servers that know the menu and how the food is prepared. All of our dishes were well prepared and nicely presented. The Amish chicken is unique and delicious.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Lunch & Dinner for Foodies! The Grange is great for foodies like me, with excellent lunch and dinner offerings. I dine there a couple times a month and have never been disappointed. Atmosphere is upscale, lots of windows and light, upscale crowd and surroundings, but very relaxing with great food and a great bar. Service is extremely attentive. Can't wait to go back.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is absolutely beyondThe food is absolutely beyond compare SO good. My husband & I were seated upstairs, which made for a much quieter experience than the main dining floor, & that was perfect for us that night (celebrating our third wedding anniversary & wanting to be able to hold a conversation). They even gave us our own menus with "Happy Anniversary" on the top, which the head chef signed for us! The drinks were fantastic, the food was completely amazing. The only thing that wasn't perfect was the length of time between courses. It may be standard for this restaurant but for me it was a bit long. We weren't really in any hurry, but 2.5-3 hours is longer than I typically expect for even this NICE a dinner.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFarm To Table ExcellenceFine dining in a airy room with abundant natural light owing to the expansive glassed-in addition to the restaurant. Table service by Clint was friendly, solicitous and efficient. The food choices were all appealing with the 3-course Spring-themed prix fix especially so.
Knowledgeable wine service from a well-chosen list is a plus. We'll go back soon.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMA combination of everything rightA real gem for Sacramento where so many places are unbearably noisy. At the grange you can actually have an adult conversation - meaning you don't have to shout . The food was extraordinary and our serve, Roger, a real professional . One of the region's finest.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGrange and its staff shouldGrange and its staff should be proud of the food that they serve - customers who happen to dine there will find some very tasty surprises in store for them as well. Would highly recommend dining there for any occasion and will return on my next visit to Sacramento.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways deliversSeasonal menu, local food, great wine. The Grange always delivers great meals and service. Servers are always very knowledgable about the wine list and appropriate pairings.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a Fine Restaurant Should BeThis was our fourth dinner at Grange, and I must say this is truly one of the three best restaurants in Sacramento & the surrounding area. Every bite of every dish is excellent. My husband's salmon and my chicken were both inventive, original and delicious. The tiny roasted carrots, a side dish, were slightly carmelized and very tasty. We shared the lemon meringue tart for dessert, which was also wonderful. The wine list is excellent, with choices for a variety of tastes and budgets. The atmosphere is wonderful--contemporary, but warm and inviting. The bartender makes an excellent Lemon Drop martini with the house vodka. We can't wait to go back!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMSalt cod fritters very good.Salt cod fritters very good. Good quality rib-eye. Service was friendly and prompt. Restaurant was quite packed on a Saturday evening.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMIncredible food! We had anIncredible food! We had an EXCELLENT server which means a lot to us! We will definitely return.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMClaudia CorralThis was by far one of the best dinners and service we had in a very long time! We seriously love the Grange and would like to thank them for the attention to detail and for making our 14 year anniversary a memorable one!3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFrom the moment we walkedFrom the moment we walked in we were treated TOP NOTCH! Special props to the manager for checking on our table and making sure we were treated exceptional. We definately will be back!3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFood, waiter, and the environmentFood, waiter, and the environment was all top notch.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a great place to beAlways a great place to be seen. More elderly, political types of Sacramento.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGive your review a title (optional)This was our 40th wedding anniversary and after spending Saturday night in San Francisco, we returned home for the last of our celebrations. My wife and I decided on The Grange and were not disappointed. Excellent food and service!3/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
